Depends what you play on really. Console or vanilla game on PC, Session 100%, but if you wanna mod the game on PC, XL mods carry hard. Session is the better game as an actual out the box game, but SXL modded is technically still a better experience.
It's funny because they both use earth gravity 9.8 or whatever value but it translates different in both games😅 you can get mid pop but the crouching doesnt match appropriately. Its ok to revert as long as its with sticks, not double tapping 😊 this map is the one of the only maps i casually skate around vs skating one spot repeatedly
Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Session has better official maps and the ability to walk and constant updates, but the skate animations look so bad and stiff, no style. XL has better animations and board control but Easy Day has to start working on the game more. It's unbelievable how bad the modding community it carrying that game. I personally love SkaterXL way more though.
Anyone ever deleted their character on accident and boning ollies doesn’t work anymore? Just did that on accident a couple nights ago and hadda reset my settings and everything feels weird now…if anyone knows how to fix it lemme know
Even Shredders added somewhat of a menu to mess with some stats. Skate XL died looooong ago on console. If you play skater XL on console still, you got cognitive dissonance. They gave up on you within the first year of the game being out.
i knew session was diff the 1st time i played it , i basically had to get off the board and walk to the spots until i learned how to stand on the board and turn lol .
I know what you mean. I’ve played all the skate series and modded xl but I spent days on Session just learning the timing. Skating around nyc popping onto curbs and over cracks. I still warm up that way after 200hrs
Session.. Night and day Add npc Objects dropper Stat menu A handful of maps Constantly upgrading when they can. Skater Xl Console dead Pc moded to enjoyed it.
I think it would be cool to eliminate the stats menu and just have skate style options like Skate 3… (Hunched, standing straighter ) Maybe the ability to start out as a shitty skater, and throughout the game you level up your abilities and hone your tricks. A stats menu is fine but I think it should be more like Pro skater and build your characters stats to how you play. Rank up that tre flip and rank up that bs crook, then when you do the Nac it feels like more of a accomplishment
Yeah already how it is with session though. If you played session you'd know it's extremely hard to land trick especially with manual catch. You literally got from am to pro just be learning to get better at the game
My biggest gripe with Session, is that it feels so stiff and clunky. Tricks tend to look very similar as far as animations go(lack of style), and riding around can feel awkward and unresponsive. Tho mods Im sure can help to remedy these things, but I still personally prefer XL modded. Lots of mods to tweak just about everything at a granular level to get it where you want. Like arm, leg and feet movement or just fine tuning board control with flips and grinds. Problem with this however, is that it takes A LOT of trial and error to get things where you want, especially when some mods are finnicky. Out of the box Id say Session but, if you like to tinker, then XL. Session has much better maps too imo
The greatest SXL problem no one talks about is that their input module interface is GARBAGE. They simply ignored all steam guidelines and 50% of the controllers won't work. Some of them require you to unplug all usb devices so you can play. SkaterXL is not a game, is a tech demo to this day
Not everyone on PC wants to mod the game though. I play on PC and prefer Session, there's too many mods to be bothered with for XL, you're not even playing Skater XL at that point, you're playing a community remake of the game.
Session sucks man. Terrible controls, terrible animations modded Skater XL is just superior in every way. Only thing session has is graphics while the rest of the game is pure trash
Facts. Session is the least fun, most clunky laggy dogshit skateboarding game ever made. Even after 1000 hrs when you can do any trick smooth on command, the game never feels good or rewarding. Always feels horrendously terrible forever.
No moon gravity is why Session feels better to me tbh. Funny tho. Also didn't the SkaterXL devs say they don't want a stats menu in the game? Like they made it like that on purpose?
at a minimum, xl needs to drop all those things they said they would drop for 2023. im not getting hopes up for a stats menu before they even drop their 2023 intended drops. but i hope this sparks something up for xl
It's also still the least fun, most clunky laggy dogshit skateboarding game ever made that hasn't received a meaningful update in several years. Session does literally NOTHING well.
Anything to keep the devs engaged. I love it. Can’t comprehend being upset over a cheap paid dlc. Whatever I can do to keep Session going in the direction that they have been.
skater xl never had animation problems..people not even talking about that and having so much hate for the game, game can be really realistic if you set your modded stats right. im having a blast on skater xl after 1000 hours still
I hope the switch to Unreal Engine 5 finally adds a proper goofy stance. It's ridiculous that a "skate sim" could be missing something so basic for all these years
@rendzen3586 Not a skill issue .. It's to do with animation or friction of the wheels to the environment in the game. It's hard to explain.. It almost feels like a skateboard on ice when making micro adjustments. Or better still feels like you are powersliding the board to make micro adjustments.
@@CR3WL1FE it is skill and settings issue. Moon gravity on base xl game is shit ass issue, just as bounce glitch on session. But as far as SIM, session wins. SXL is a arcade game, great arcade game and its closer to skate 3 than session. The fact that XL still have drag board glitch, moon gravity, ghost catch on core game proves that its a casual. as much as i dont like session im about to try it again just bc of how bad XL handles everything. they didnt even release what they previewed last year
Lol so if EDS did a vid on transition then did a indy grab down a 20 stair and said " imagine a sim that doesn't allow this". Creature might have the market now but they should keep their mouths shut. They have too many things from 2019 that still have not been updated... Ironic that both games use earths gravity and both messed it up. XL is obvious. Session messed up the velocity that you fall at. You fall the same speed, hit the ground, bend your knees & back the same amount doing a 5 stair vs a 15 stair. That's bad gravity. Please make a clip of irl vs session g upload it before you tell me I'm wrong. 👍 I wonder how many people hyping session realize that with Creatures move to UE5 will mean some of them will not be able to play. No more ps4 support or Xbox one.. I guess being an original early access Xbox supporter, that literally got Creature the cash to try and keep session up with XL, at the time session was dead in comparison. This channels videos are proof... We, skaters primarily, who helped Creature back then were promised things that still are unfinished & we lose the game because they want to go to a new game engine when the game looks beautiful already? Now the session kids will say the people with ps4 or Xbox one don't deserve to be allowed to play the game they defend so hard, I guess?
Session itself hasn't received a meaningful update to anything whatsoever since 2019. Several overpriced map releases though. Worst devs in the business.
I thought about trying skater xl but the push animation looks dumb either way his T. rex arm hunch thing lol and when I seen you Ollie with only 1 foot and you auto grind lol. I play my session left foot right and manual everything and i wish session had more features like vert and stuff but XL just looks more like another arcade skating game and I want realism
I feel like both games have their qualities and their flaws. I have played both games when they came out on console. Skater xl just does not come close to Session. I get lots of clean lines and get clean tricks. You have almost endless possibilities because of the stats menu. No mods needed.
You should judge the games from their vanilla stand point. Judging modded versions of these games just doesn’t make sense because it’s not the developers making these mods. They need to make their games better.
I don't know why, but the animations on session just look terrible (in my eyes). That said, for me at least. Nothing compares to modded XL. The amount you can tweak to find your own very personal style is of the charts. However, I get that not everyone wants to learn how to mod or let alone learn the mods in game. Xl definitely needs to do a better job to provide such tools. A simple stats tweaker would be a good start.

Yet Session treats theirs even worse with no updates in 3 years yet still pumping out AWFUL shallow empty overpriced DLC maps.

New viewer here. Where can i get your settings / stats for session?
As far as I can remember. Skater XL won't get a stats menu, because they are into doing the e sports gaming. And need to keep things equal and fair throughout. But in real life we all have different styles, ways of skateboarding. Pop height etc.
No one needed to see or read this... You probably think mongo pushing is acceptable to do as well...
@@KniefChief damn man. You really this much of a loser?

Yes
I’m still waiting for grabs 😢 and new animations , and feel like the sounds need updating
Sounds are fine and recently updated. Don't know why people are so eager to cry about animations in physics bases game.
Skater xl added ghost catches, auto lock ins etc just to make game more fluid, but at what cost? That game is same as skate3 - arcady shit where you can't almost bail a trick

Depends what you play on really. Console or vanilla game on PC, Session 100%, but if you wanna mod the game on PC, XL mods carry hard. Session is the better game as an actual out the box game, but SXL modded is technically still a better experience.
Modded SXL , but Sessions on console.
When you're the best skate game at the moment you can do some of those
I love session
🔥
Stupid question, have they added hair for when you’re wearing hats? Lol
Nope. Still look like a cancer patient.
Just wait til the skate 4 play test becomes more widely available. it will blow minds

I’ve played 200 hours plus on both, Skater Xl had a lot more to offer but Session is the smoothest skating sim ever made in my opinion!
When you turn Gravity down in Session to the lowest it should say Extra Large Gravity
Session..
Night and day
Add npc
Objects dropper
Stat menu
A handful of maps
Constantly upgrading when they can.
Skater Xl
Console dead
Pc moded to enjoyed it.
Water. No Gatorade. ......water. no Gatorade
Session has much better maps too imo
session has no mods to fix any of those issues. thats why it sucks so much
The greatest SXL problem no one talks about is that their input module interface is GARBAGE. They simply ignored all steam guidelines and 50% of the controllers won't work. Some of them require you to unplug all usb devices so you can play. SkaterXL is not a game, is a tech demo to this day
I would play XL again if it got a stats menu. But for now I'll play session.
SKATER XL IS BETTER ON PC SESSION IS BETTER ON CONSOLES just had to let that be known
Session is for the people to poor to afford a pc
I have a maxed out pc and I still prefer session on console over sxl vanilla and modded on PC. Goofy comment
Not everyone on PC wants to mod the game though. I play on PC and prefer Session, there's too many mods to be bothered with for XL, you're not even playing Skater XL at that point, you're playing a community remake of the game.

Agreed. It seems like you have to go too slow before you start to tic tac (unsure if that term is still used) making carving impossible
Skill and settings issue
@rendzen3586 Not a skill issue .. It's to do with animation or friction of the wheels to the environment in the game. It's hard to explain.. It almost feels like a skateboard on ice when making micro adjustments. Or better still feels like you are powersliding the board to make micro adjustments.

2:59 Skater XL is better ;))
as much as i dont like session im about to try it again just bc of how bad XL handles everything. they didnt even release what they previewed last year
Lol so if EDS did a vid on transition then did a indy grab down a 20 stair and said " imagine a sim that doesn't allow this".
I wonder how many people hyping session realize that with Creatures move to UE5 will mean some of them will not be able to play.
