It's all very well you catching up with an update, but I've got loads and loads of orchid videos from many people to catch up with (teehee). I WILL get round to watching more. This is a good update, some 'history' and some expectations.
Thank you for the update and thank you so much for mentioning my site! Looks like everything is doing wonderfully with your greenhouse. I see that not only are your plants flowering well, they are growing well! Love ya!
Love the Dragoon that is a cool flower and the George king cross is amazingly beautiful. wades plants are fantastic always in great shape and grow very well ! Your grow space looks great !
A super update. Thank you. I love your choice in plants. As for the happy sap, I have a little anecdote about what happens in my climate. I usually get lots of happy sap on new cattleya growths and it never bothered me but last summer there was a spathe of videos about happy sap and I suddenly took the notion of pouring water on my new growths, when watering, to wash it off. Well, although it was summer, I ended up rotting two new growths on C. lobata as I think the water went in between the very tight folds. I won't be trying that again :D Thanks for sharing.
yeah I don't know happy sap doesn't seem to bother me as much as it does other growers. I leave it alone, but when I'm watering it does get washed off a bit. So do you just leave the sap alone now? I remember when you posted the video about your rotted bulbs! I really try not to splash water around when I water, but with so many plants its sometimes inevitable. I just try to increase air flow more after a water by using 2 fans and my overhead fan.
+Holy City Orchids I just leave the sap alone now, Brittany - which I'd always done before and it was always fine. I don't have any fans anywhere (I open the windows indoors for 10 minutes a day) and a more humid climate than yours. I thought I would be okay washing the sap off in summer but, no! Anyway, different methods for different climates!
Looks great! took me a whole day to finish this video watched one part at 6 and another. At noon now finally done at 2... :p lovely collection you need to get a few benches in there! Happy growing!🌱🌺
Almost like here (north Italy), but during night we are already going under 0°C... I hope the heating sistem of my little green house keeps doing its job!
Congrats on the paph. I haven't bothered trying the terrestrial orchids. Great update! your collection is amazing. Also, nails are looking on POINT. :)
My vandas have roots like yours (there is no bucket large enough to dunk it into besides a bathtub), so I use the bathtub in the wintertime. I do not soak it, but I turn the shower head on and leave them in there for 10 minutes or so. I do this with both vandas at the same time as well as an extremely large cattleya (Jose Marti 'Mother's Favorite').
The 'Romeo' looks good. My example recently bloomed (previous bloom 10 Feb) with virtually no red on the lips. I was reading where an older plant sometimes does this; pushing out a speck of red and even no red at all, just a solid yellow bloom.
+Holy City Orchids My blooms were short-lived this time; lasting less than two weeks with nothing else going on with the plant. Fingers crossed that your guy will do well.
Hello Brittany, that is the D. alexandrae x hodgkinsonii that had the spider mites infestation last year, isn't it? Did you get rid of them completely by treating it with neem oil solution (I don't remember if you mentioned it in another video)? And is it right that you haven't had any other infected plants after that one Dendrobium? I hate to use poison on my orchids... Putting your Vanda in a basket could be tricky, but I would say: Go for it! It's so much more convenient than bare roots. And the last thing on my list: I really enjoy your update videos.
Nice video! Hey Brittany, I noticed at the end of the video, there was a very high frequency sound screaming at my ears. (for me) it was as loud as your voice was, haha. I don't know if you can do anything about that, but I thought I would let you know! :) Gosh your plants are so pretty!
My C. dowiana is dying/sulking too. It got black rot in the new bulb this summer and I had to hack it off. :( I don't have any plans to replace it though because they are SO EXPENSIVE! Maybe in 30 years when I have a greenhouse and more experience I'll take the plunge and get another one. xD How long have you had yours? Do you have a video of when you first got it? I see that you got it from Odoms, I love their plants. I got mine from ebay.
Hi, what exactly is that huge one at 15:47. You say something, but I was not able to understand it. I just do not know what it could be... I think it looks pretty interesting :) Thank you for your nice video.
Thanks for the update! I always enjoy watching your collection. You have so many interesting orchids.
So many blooms!
Its been an excellent year for my Cattleyas!

Lots of spikes and lots of bloom! They are enjoying the porch for sure!!
I love the Blc green dragoon, wonderful shape!! :)
Thank you! They really are thriving out there which makes me a happy orchid mom :D
How much the temperature decrease outside?
+Orchidaholic last night was 32F outside while inside the enclosure was 60F

Oops..! Everything looks good.. :)
I was so confused by this plant this year. I will be so disappointed if the buds have blasted and that's why its making the new growths.

+John Benedict ORCHIDS both of our plants need to get their shit together it sounds like lmao.
love ur green cattleya, BLC green ...,it's a shame doesn't have a fragrance! thanks for the update.
Blc Green Dragoon. Yeah I have seen it used several times in other crosses. it has excellent shape and substance!
bonjour c est très beau tout çà
you should do an update of your ENTIRE catasetum collection! I'd definitely love that!

Wow thats a lot of plants, I bet you don't water in the bath lol. So many in bloom, well done:-)
i actually use my garden hose as much as possible. With colder weather setting in I need to invest in a hose warmer. God that sounds wrong....
+Holy City Orchids Not wrong just hilarious, I could crochet you a super long willy warmer Hahaha
+Rosemary457 oooh hurry up and trademark that before someone else gets the idea to use willy warmer Hahahah!
+Holy City Orchids If nothing else it would help keep your hand warm on that freezing cold hose lol

Concerning lava rock medium, the Cat.D at the end, do u have spag moss only on top?
Yes for added humidity and moisture. Trying to encourage new root growth.
