    Hello everyone !
It's been quite a long time but I'm back with some tutorials for you !
In this video, I'm exploring some steps that I try to do while I record lead doubles, backing vocals etc.
This should give you new ideas and directions for your future rehearsal or recording !
Be sure to comment if you have any feedback, comments or suggestions for more videos like this !
    THANKS FOR WATCHING :)

A great rendition of the end of the Singers Unlimited's "Indian Summer"! Puerling and company must have done something similar to what you're describing to get that huge sound. Glad to see you back here again :)

    where were you, man!
your subscribers have missed you a lot!
    you make such amazing music.
Any recommended reads for someone who wants to start making A Capella arrangements?
Also, do you post or sell your arrangements anywhere?
I love to have some of them, how do we get in touch with you?

I was very skeptical about the lower third being more 'important' than the upper one, but wowwww the difference that lower third makes to the quality of the chord is unreal. It sounds like a chorus of 50 singers with it added

I agree. I was taught not to put 3rds in the lower register because it would sound muddy. Not the case here!

Agreed, I think the best example of this is Antonio Lotti's Crucifixus. At the very end he doubles the third in the lower register and it really lets the last chord ring so much more: ua-cam.com/video/89shqLBkDvw/v-deo.html

I can't sing for the life of me but have applied these principals to MIDI, super cool to have my theories verified by actual musicians. What's your favourite type of major chord JB? If it had any amount of notes.

      I'd say 1 5 3 or 5 1 3 for close position

Great lesson J.B.! Thank you for sharing. There are a few things though that are bothering me and I have to ask. I assume that what you are talking about is tuning chords with "just" or "perfect" intervals (based on the overtone series) to make them sound better. My second assumption is that when you record your first part (in this case the top voice), you sing it with equal tempered intervals (to avoid pitch drifting) and then you tune all the other parts to that one. Are any of these assumptions wrong? If not: How do you tune some intervals in chords that are quite far away in the harmonic series (not the fifth and the major third) in complex jazz chords? By what feels/sounds right? Do you combine perfect intervals with equal tempered intervals for some chords? I hope I am making sense - these questions definitely arise from my limited understanding of the topic but I want to learn more. :) If anyone else chimes in to answer them, I'll appreciate it as well.

Perso , je préfère quand tu ne répètes pas la tierce en bas. Déjà on l'entend par sympathie avec les quintes justes.
