Same things happens to my super 3 NASCAR car. I’ll be watching your design choices, as mine is sitting due to the clip. Thank you for the video. Very insightful.
Hey Mark, thanks for that tip, didn't know about the magnets! So, I got a super III, it's called a 'round II', doesn't have that rear clip, on E-bay, mainly cause it had awesome aluminum rims, beautiful blue Ford body, and, yeah, was a dog at first! Noisy, slow, but it looks like a Tyco crown gear and axle, so, first replaced the rear tires, they were super hard, made big difference, still super slow, so , put in a 3.5 ohm arm, ran much better, still, needed something, so put in a new pinion gear, I think from a Wizzard project, and WOW fast as a scolded dog now! But, hard to keep on track, gonna try that mag reversal.
Well, this one just says "round 2 " on the inside of the chassis, and, yes i've heard of the gear mesh problems , but, it's difficult to say, cause like I stated, got it used, crown gear was Tyco, i believe, pinion was prob though, could have been stock AW gear@@marksslotcargarage
I just looked at mine and it also says Round 2 right on the clip that keeps falling off. I guess yours is the same, the 2nd gen car. Are you sure it does not have that clip on top of the magnets and the rear bushing?
LOL, yeah I was wrong, it was a while ago I upgraded it, it DOES have that clip, my has ever fallen off, although, it's so fast now with the mags in i guess the low down force position, comes off the track sometimes and back axle pops off! And, I must confess, just got back into slot's like, maybe half a year ago, so no pro at modding them!!@@marksslotcargarage
Alright fellas, here is my take on this. The super 3 deluxe pit kit at hobby lobby is around $20.00. This makes it about half the price of a viper or a wizzard storm. For around $10.00 more you can swap the motor for a Tyco X3 motor,(these are all over ebay) a set of a f x G plus gears and Marks high down force magnet flip. Although the quality is not up to everybodys standards. Autoworld is keeping the aurora concept alive. I have to give them credit for that. Stick with them. Your comments to them have made them better over the years. Believe me, I have stuff since day 1. As far as the clip hold down issue, i havent wrecked one hard enough to pop it off. if that happens, i will le.t you know how i fix it. Sorry if i bored you and thanks Mark for another great video!
Thanks Tim, not boring at all. I may not be be a fan of Auto World but I am not really the target audience for their product. Auto World fills the budget space and there is nothing wrong with that, if their product improves with time even better. I actually enjoy running the Super III once you get it tweaked properly, the clip issue I do hope they fix, it just comes off way too easy.
Yeah Mark I glued my clip in I have five Super 3 and all five of my crash and they all popped out thanks for the video mark keep up the good work did you do good on your race
Thanks Shawn, I figured most guys would just glue it in, it's a shame we even have to do that, very poor design. I actually did pretty good yesterday, I will talk more about the Vero race tomorrow on Dan's Monday night show when I do my give away.
I have the same issues with this Super III Deluxe Pit Kit, I'm glad I'm not alone. The Super III Indy Car on the other hand is the fastest car I own, it does 4.4-4.5 second laps on the SoCal GP like you have. Auto World quality can be really hit or miss on their cars.
I bought the kit and am having trouble getting it to even run. I get nothing. Not sure how the springs engage the pickup shoes. Maybe you can point me to a video but the instructions don’t even mention the springs because they’re already in place. But my shoes have no spring.
The pickup shoes go through the middle of the spring then wrap around the brush barrel, the little black plastic parts go over the top of the pickup shoe kind of on top of the barrel and the clip hold the black plastic caps on and the top of the front bushing. The directions do stink that come with the kit. I hope that helps, sorry I don't know of a build video and I have only built one. I don't really use the super III much.
Grind the traction magnets? I don't see why you would need to do that since you can adjust the height of the magnets by pushing them up or down so if you could explain that would be great. Thanks.
I guess that will work but you should not have to glue it. The problem is the magnet is not notched properly. Check out my other video on the fix to get the clip to sit flat and lock into place.
Hey Mark I know I’m a newbie but I have some Autoworld cars and I think they are in lack of a better word crap .....give me a AFX Car any day of the week... I Won’t even waste my money buying one of those cars...
You won't get any argument from me...lol I don't run Auto World cars, I only have this Super III because a friend gave it to me. I stay away from AW specially their chassis at all cost, They do have some nice bodies.
Not the traction magnet I’m talking about the motor magnet. I took my Dremel i took off 2 or 3 mm Off the top of the motor Magnets where the traction magnet rear armature bushing retainer clip snaps in….never pops off snaps right in
Ah, I thought the clip was not laying flat. Actually the magnets already have a notch, I had one in backwards. I turned it around and now the clip fits better. Thanks for the tip. I will do a follow up video with that info.
Mark, To be honest I really don’t like the engineering of these cars. So I ended up taking the magnets back out again And after looking at both of them. They are both miss matched. That’s why I ended up grinding one the top of the magnet down A couple of millimeters. Now the retainer clips on perfect. Glad I could help..
@@Jasonslotcarguy Yup, I see what you mean, one magnet has the notch correctly but the 2nd one you have to do your own notch. I just did a quick video on it. Thanks!
Wow 🤯 Perfect example of doing something just barely enough to work...so sad 😔. Thank you for the tips and pointing out another design flaw. 😉👍🏁🏎
Yeah it was pretty bad how often that clip came off I felt I had to point it out. Thanks Scott.
Same things happens to my super 3 NASCAR car. I’ll be watching your design choices, as mine is sitting due to the clip. Thank you for the video. Very insightful.
Thanks Matt, yeah I am not sure yet the best way to secure that clip. If I come up with something good that works I will let you know.
Good stuff, more reasons why I don’t run AW. Have a good one, SCFL!
Thanks SCLOC, yeah it was pretty sad how often the clip came off, I had to point it out.

I do know the first round of Super III cars had problems with the gears. Is the the one you are talking about? Thanks.

I wonder if someone glued your clip? Are you able to take it off if you wanted to?

Thanks mark l am learning a lot lots of changes sense early 60s appreciate your knowledge time joe😊😊😊
Thanks Johnny!
Hey Mark, would you do a video clip showing how you check your magnets. Thanks .
Sure thing, I will get a video posted soon on the magnet flip.
Yeah all three pit kits had the issue, clad to hear your Indy car runs well.
Glue it. you can still get at the pinion, thats what I ended up doing
Yeah I probably will, thanks Dan.

Mark, You have to grind one of the magnets down so it looks like the other one. So they both look like a little shelf.
I’ll try to send a picture

I use rubber glue to keep the retainer in place.
I guess that will work but you should not have to glue it. The problem is the magnet is not notched properly. Check out my other video on the fix to get the clip to sit flat and lock into place.
Good video about this problem!I don't use those chassis maybe try motor mount clip from afx? EAGLE RACEWAY.
Thanks Kevin, yeah I don't really run the Super III either and don't plan to. Thanks for the suggestions.

Auto world cars are terrible!!
Yeah I am not a fan but some people like them, they are cheap and they have some decent bodies. Thanks!
I’m really liking your videos, I just got back into slot cars about two years ago, it’s my favorite hobby!!!
Thanks! I appreciate that.
