    Not necessarily. Thiamine deficiency, Warburg effect, excess Beta agonists, medications, liver disease, etc, raise lactate. You see alot of nonseptic lactates these days are these braniacs are ordering lactates on everything that farts.

      Correct. It's common in metabolic patients too. I need to be on a dextrose IV during surgery due to my metabolic disorder, and I had one doctor who didn't understand why the dextrose IV increasing caused an increase in lactate. In other words the biochemist didn't understand basic glycolysis
