Great review! I'm working on mine currently, and for me while I understand and see the flaws of the game, at the end of the day what matters to me most in a video game is whether a game is fun or not, and Veilguard is incredibly fun. I agree that the dialogue is badly written, I thought the characters didn't have the complexity that's standard for Dragon Age games, and the roleplaying aspects were massively toned down. But after 100 hours in the game and multiple playthroughs, I still enjoyed the combat system, and Act 3 will remain with me for a long time. The lows are very low, but the highs are peak in the franchise. Nothing in DA2 or DAI reminded me of the Siege of Ostagar, or the final battle in Denerim. Nothing, except the WHOLE of the last act in DAV, and for that I thought this game was worth it.
Okay so I haven't quite beaten it yet but I'm about 60 hours in. And overall it's probably my second favorite in this franchise. All of the stupid woke arguments are really dumb this franchise has always been that way so has Mass effect now let's move on. The game isn't perfect I wish I can communicate with my party members at any point not just when they wanted to talk to me I wish that some of the RPG mechanics were deeper they're a bit too streamlined. That does not mean it's not still definitely an RPG it's there. There are still choice and consequence those big decisions are still there. People talking about how there's no conflict within the group clearly haven't played it very far in because conflict does show up especially in the second act which tells me most people aren't getting that far. Also there are moments in this that are some of the coolest in this franchise easy this is basically a dragon age game through the lens of Mass effect 2 which some will not like I get that but Mass effect 2 is my favorite BioWare game so I'm not bothered by those changes that much. The exploration is very old school BioWare how the world is built is very much similar to Kotor where it's kind of these open levels that wind in and out on itself. People complaining about not being able to be evil I'm sorry outside of dragon age origins you're not really able to be that much of a jerk since the introduction of the dialogue wheel it is more variations on the same comment. The game is not perfect But I do think it has the unfortunate place of being the first major Western fantasy RPG to be released since Baldur's gate 3 which is an impossible task to live up to. Between that And the anti-woke mouth breathers it's always had an uphill battle. I don't put numbers on things but if I would and it would be like a four out of five or 8 out of 10 something like that. It's probably my personal game of the year but it's also been a fairly weak year for me.
I'm tired of the fact that every time I go to UA-cam my home page is flooded with hate videos about DAV. It's too much. The game is receiving more hate than it really deserves. Finally I find a positive video about The Veilguard. I also enjoyed it very much. Good review brother. I agree with many of the negative points that most users mention but this game also has many positive points that are worth highlighting.
Im a long time Dragon Age fan, and actually think this is among the best in the series. I see a lot of your choices dont matter, but thats incorrect. You fuck over either Mintathous or Treviso. To whichever you doom to an Archdeamon Attack, youre pretty evil. You kill either Davrin or Harding. You may kill more companions, you can also do this willingly by not doing their missions. Your dialogue is much more limited. BioWare games are Cinematic RPGs. Theyre more like playable movies than people tend to see them as. The dialogue needs to fit this movie theyre showing you. They very much could have ended at Weishaupt. You kill the Archdemon, kill Davrin/Rook and sell the rest as a sequel/DLC. Instead, they told the full story of you kill the gods, and wrap up a decade long story really well. With almost no bugs. Its quite remarkable. Also you can definitely finish out all the side quests in one run. It took me 85-90 hours for my first run. Thanks for such a positive review. Its been hard to find. So many people are focusing on the negative.
Right and those people haven't even played the freaking thing. It's not a perfect game it's great but not a masterpiece that's fine not everything has to be and masterpiece to be good or Worth your time. There are very valid complaints but those valid complaints are very difficult to really have an intelligent conversation when you have a bunch of Neanderthals screaming woke.
@@maryi685 I would definitely recommend playing all DA games as you can import your saves across from origins to inquisition you also tend to get the older DA games for cheaper than veilgaurd
Great game , great fun combat and story, don’t listen to so called you tubers who hate this game, play for yourself because you might enjoy it as much as I do, I think half the people who hate the game never even played it
Thought the game was trash. I'm glad you had fun with it, at least. To me, it's very generic and milktoast. The roleplaying aspects are limited, to say the least. You can't be "evil" at all, and you're pretty much the hero from beginning to end. The insufferable identity politics they forced in take away all immeraion and already make the game feel dated. The side characters overall are some of the worst written ever, and they look terrible, too. The combat again is incredibly generic and safe. It seems like they were going after the casual audience because they played it super safe with almost all parts of this game. Boring world with nothing interesting to really see or do made worse by the cartoonish art style, which makes it feel like a fortnite or overwatch dlc. There's zero sense of danger and progress the whole game. It's an empty and soulless experience, and im not sure who it was made for. The "modern audience" I guess.
That's a sub. Good review that didn't try to pretend this it wasn't your own subjective opinion and didn't faII for the ragebait of "woke" that so many are faIIing face first into. AIso if you Iike RPGs that are heavy on story and pIayer agency, that Iet you be eviI or a dick or a saint to a fauIt, I highIy suggest OwIcats' Rogue Trader 40k. This game has devoured my time. It respects the pIayer for better or for worst. And it doesn't require that you know 40k Iore or be into the tabIe top to enjoy it.
i like the game a lot on my 2nd run. that being said i think its a horrible dragon age game, when you read whats going on in the south from the inquisitor that sounds like the game we should be playing. Seems way worse in the south but we are dealing with 2 gods and the blight and their situation sounds a lot more dire, feels a lot more like a god of war game then a dragon age game
I dislike the game due to its retcons and the fact that all the classes feel the same. They all look and play like a mage, basically. With warriors and rogues summoning and teleporting etc. Also there are tons of plotholes and the pacing isn't very good. They do too much tell not show. While I hear the ending is decent. The rest of the game and it's characters are seemingly quite boring. And for me anyways. Why I continue to replay origins. Is my love of the characters.
I actually really like it too, but it is the worst dragon age game. my favorite thing about the Dragon age/Mass Effect series is your choices and this game really doesn’t have that, that just 3 different ways to be nice. So I understand why people are so mad. But the gameplay is actually really fun.
no, just no, its pushing a political idealogy, you cant be evil, its not an RPG, its not Dragon Age, I like to play as a cold hearted SOB, can i be this in this game...NO
You can't really be cold-hearted in any BioWare game since the dialogue wheel was introduced you can sometimes be a dick but not evil even renegade Shepherd's still a good guy. Also they've always been progressive dragon age and Mass effect are very progressive in nature have been the entire time. I don't know man it just feels like this parented talking point It's really invalid if you've played the rest of the series. Don't get me wrong it's not a perfect game But the stupid anti-woke army are spending too much time huffing their own farts to actually pay attention to the game and have valid criticisms. They're there for sure But the durr it's woke argument is just asinine. It's impossible to have any kind of real constructive conversation about the game if that's where you start. Because the game isn't perfect it's great it's not a masterpiece there's a reason it's not a masterpiece what you said is not why.
@@johnnyflannigan136well is it DEi slip. Not just because the writing is atrocious and self inserts. There are no real choices which means it is not an RPG. Also all the villains are mostly white males. As if not of the other races aren’t enticed and corrupted by power. Veilgard is to DA what Andromeda was to ME. Not a real sequel and worse writing.
L take. I'm very anti-woke but it's obvious the uploader just likes the game for the game, and not because of ideology. You aren't helping anyone or anything by slinging insults. But maybe you're like 15, I dunno.
Its ok......... but its not a dragon age game. They ruined the game with the trans bs........ you can have a trans character but dont force the ideology on me...... i should have the choice to diagree with tash and her bad attitude.
You have to be trolling on this right. At the very lowest level it is a beautiful looking game that runs well. Are tons of games that aren't even those things. The game is not flawless but it is far from the worst game ever made unless the only game you've ever played is Baldur's gate 3 and Witcher 3
Unacceptable! You must choose an ideological side and align yourself accordingly! Judging based on experience only is forbidden.

The hate is definitely overblown. I bought it and tried for about an hour. Need to finish Metaphor first before diving into this one.

Def picking it up after the backlog early next year. Wanna complete the first Dragon Age as well.
Hell yea man! Thanks for watching bro
Try Dragon Age Origins. Its mass Effect 1 of them. Honestly, the only true rpg out of 4, youll love it.
Will do !

funny how the vast majority of these dislikes haven't posted objective reasons for why this game is bad, nor reasons at all.
Amazing video 👏🐐bro never miss
Thank you bro !!
Thy did not allow for bigger chests or buts because they would have to do more work to make it compatible with the other armors
Honestly that’s what I thought as well
