Maybe Gibson should make their normal overly expensive 335's good enough (this goes for the other models too) to justify the price in the first place, instead of having to invent 'Murphy lab' editions to create the quality expected from the get go, and charge even more.
I bought myself one of those German 335 imitations that we don't talk about here on this channel and WOW! What a fantastic guitar for very little money.
I have to agree. The quality to price ratio for Gibson USA guitars is way off considering how inconsistent their QC is. Yes, you can get a great Gibson, but you're going to have to play a few to get a good one; I would never buy one sight unseen. For around the same money, you can get a PRS Core model which are consistently great. Gibson needs to take note of what they're doing in Maryland and up their QC game to justify their prices.
I only played solid body guitars like Fender Strat and Gibson SG and I considered the semi-acoustic good only for historical blues or jazz, but one day I found myself in front of a wonderful 'beauty blue' ES-345 and a friend told me: "this is one of those really nice"... That argument at about 6:50 is just incorrect; yes, any guitar makes noise when you strum it, but pickups aren't just "amplifying that noise". That might be how acoustic pickups work, but the PUs on an electric don't care what acoustic sounds are coming from the guitar, it's 100% just the vibration of metal strings over the magnetic pickups. People argue things like this all the time, but there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that shows pretty conclusively that body materials and composition have very little effect on the sound of an electric guitar. They might affect sustain, but as far as the sound, that comes down to electronics.

It wsa comfortable, light, and it sounded as good (with generic Alnico humbuckers) as my brother's LP Studio. The 339 is smaller than the 355 & 335 (and fits into a standard gig bag!) & has the cable output on the bottom, not the front of the body. The only drawback to all semi-hollows, is it's a bit tougher to reach the upper frets. After owning the Epi 339 for a month or so, I bought a Gibson 339 for CDN $1900. The '57 pickups are still the best pickups I've heard (very close second are the Shawbuckers on my Tele, then the P90s on my Noventa Strat). Maybe someday I'll be able to tell the difference between the tone of a 335 over a 339, but it's not yet, so the 339 is the best for price, weight, comfort, sound & size. I'm in love with this Watermelon color but I'm not interested in aging. All due respect to Murphy Labs, my fangs are coming in regarding aging, but coughing up $7500 US for a unique color is pretty steep. Better include a Calton case. If Gibson released a Watermelon ES-339, the $3k US price isn't so bad.
I wish you showed how the 335 can rock it out! It was nice that you showed a kind of a bluesy jazz style which supremely sings out, also but these ES-335s can rock,,, With Les Paul's but bit more easier to catch a great "Sustainable feedback, "Sweet Sustains": Great Guitar's & nice video!!!
I’ve got an early ‘83 custom shop with Tim shaws and a flame top like no other I’ve ever seen and it cost me half of what these Murphy lab es-335’s are going for
I don’t love 3 string to a guitar side much in general. Much more of a Strat guy. Make this semi hollow Tele and I might agree with you. But I need a tummy cut on my T-style guitar too.
I love my 2008 ES-335 in black but the 2016 limited edition Gibson ES-335 premieré figured faded light burst, must be the best and most beautiful 335 ever made so far... And, ALL 335s' should have block or split block inlays. That is the only drawback with my 335 thar have dot inlays...

Joe Bonamassa did call em The burst killer, got a killer one In black from The 60s fantastic guitar :)
Ok. The final jam was the bomb.
Captain coming on leaps and bounds. He works so well With Pete
nice jam lads!!
I love how relic jobs have evolved into a phase where you almost need a magnifying glass to see that the guitar is in fact actually reliced.
You get the opportunity to pay custom shop prices for that barely perceptible service. Gibson, the forefront of charging extra for "prestige".
My favourite guitar ever.
No shame in Dots. My Gibson ES-335 '90 Reissue has them.
@@Dogheadj no, no shame, but it does not look as good...
Hey lee ! You put the mayer gshock instead of your beloved explorer ?! First video without it since 10 years maybe ! Just a day before the New john mayer single .... strange....
