I always wondered what they looked like on the inside. Also, why didn't you guys weld that joint considering you had an oxy torch? I would've used bolts but that's just because I don't have much experience doing welding although, somehow, I have more experience using oxyacetylene welding than arc welding.
The main reason we didn't weld it was because the bolts allow us to easily detach the tower from the legs, so we can lay the tower down if the need ever arises! The other reason is we only carry bronze on the rig, which can make a strong weld but not near enough to keep a tower up!
Seems like it was a fantastic week of well drilling 🤩
It was!
I’ve been waiting 32 years for this, finally, I have reached nirvana.🌫️
Really cool video! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Where did the blades go?
They got scattered all over the place when they broke off! If you look around the rig when I'm up on the tower, you can see some of them!
Nice work!
Thank you!!

Voice reveal!!!
what sort of oil do you run in these? We're gonna try n put ours up this summer
We use drip oil, but really, any thicker oil will do fine. They're not picky as long as you keep them oiled!
Exmoor once again welcomes, the little train to lynton
What size is the angle iron that the tower is made of , thinking of building one here in Ireland , great video .
It's 2"×2" 3/16 thickness, we use Inch a quarter angle iron for the small cross beams, same thickness
Appreciate the support, too! Good luck with your build!
How tall of a tower would you make with that 2x2 3/16?
@@theozarkhillbilly9040 25or 30 ft at least to catch the wind , with an 8 ft wheel .
That all depends on where it's going. If it's on a flat valley, even 10ft would be enough, but pulling rods 20-25 is much nicer!

What is the Gear ratio, and what is the number of teeth on big gear and small gear.
Thanks in advance 😊
That's a great question that I honestly don't have the answer to! I'll have to count some time!
