ah yes a nice addittion to War Thunder!
with the next update we will have a comparison between the M60 AMBT and the M60 120S
It is in warthunder I belive
It is true that it’s being added next update but If you look in the gijin marketplace there is a tank called, wait it’s completely gone entirely did they remove it to re add it?
naaaaaa
It’s honestly gonna be pretty op, over 500mm of pen and gen 2 thermals at 10.0
It might happen in Taiwan in the future, just like the M48 was combined with the M60, which resulted in the CM-11.
Nice way to prolong the life of the M60s they have. Also fill in the gaps they have until they can get their hands on Abrams. Last I checked they were getting some of those.
@@farhanzulkiflee6598 Yeah, we are getting Abrams.
Technically, the CM11 is an M60. Uses the M60 hull with the first version of the M60 turret, only difference is it use the "sunken" commanders cupola
@@Dovahkiin520 It also has some technology utilized in the Abrams.
Same with the Magach series before getting full fledge M60’s.
One downside is the high clearance between the hull and turret when the turret is facing forward. Looks like one hell of a shot trap
Shot traps aren’t nearly as much of a concern anymore because ATGMs, HEAT-FS and APFSDS, and FPV drones are the main threats to tanks in the modern battlefield. APFSDS shatters, it doesn’t bounce, and modern shaped charges detonate before they even hit the target because of standoff distance.
APHE and AP shells are pretty much a relic of the past. Sure, there might be some places those are still used but it’s not at all common.
APFSDS shells don’t withstand ricochets very well so i don’t think it would be a major issue, maybe it would jam the turret ring but that’s the only problem i could maybe see happening
@@loganb7059i am not sure even t-55/54 using groups are still using full bore ap.
If the shot trap is that exposed, the tank is already in a shitty situation
@@loganb7059BUT IN WAR THUNDER….
Ah yes , the M1 Funko Pop
Honestly for a company this isn’t a bad idea especially for countries that can afford the Abrams
Or for countries where heavier tanks won't perform as well. High altitude mountain ranges, for example.
@@hewhoplugwalkskid
I always see it as a chubby smaller abrams
Honestly man. I was looking at it and was like it looks smaller but also after at the same time.
Abrams at home:
General dynamics is actually really smart, by giving the Abrams a m60 hull they moved the vehicle down to 10.0 instead of the 11.0 of the normal abrams
Ooh look a turret ring
Seeing an M1 Abrams with an M60 engine block feels unnatural and cursed. I feel the need to arrest whoever came up with the blueprint
US army literally had a hybrid new turret + old hull on every step of their tank evolution, since M2 Light.
Ya, unless you know how much maintenance a turbine engine needs.
I smell a snail around this video
me2
i need a therapist i just spend 200 bucks on snail
@sturmmorser_on_blitz the holy snail......
This tank gives me hope for the F-16XL and the F-15 active coming to war thunder with subsequent classified leaks to follow.
F16 XL would be so awesome
First saw this thing in war thunder and went "holy turret ring batman". I know british tanks have "necks" now and then but damn
Aka what Taiwan should have had since 1990's!
P.S.: if I recall right, C&C Generals calls this tank Crusader, where it's treated as expendable alternative to deploying M1A1.
Because they are not allowed to export the abrams with the secret composite armor.
Pretty sure they make a new turret armour or smt, there were no problem with the turret armour while trying to export, but I think there's no county interested in getting this upgrade so that's why it didn't succeed
it was meant for an upgrade to already existing M60's as a cheaper option than just buying an abrams
The secret composite armour is British, Abram’s was the first production tank to use Chobham armour.
@@sparky4878 Yep. And it has changed a lot since then.
It's also ridiculously aesthetic.
The 60 was a good defensive tank, and WAY more comfortable than an Abrams. I was always on an Abrams, but we played with a couple Guard 60's at Knox...
This reminds me of the early Challenger tanks which were basically just a slightly modified Chieftain hull with a newly designed turret on top. Ironically, the M-60 had a new hull, but used turret off the previous M-48 for it's first model, just the opposite of this concept. I'm guessing General Dynamics was trying to stretch out the lifespan of the old chassis/hull as far as they could to get more use/money out of it? While on the longevity subject, the South African army Olifant Mk II running on a Centurion hull designed 80 years ago is just absolutely insane compared with any other modernized cold war MBT.
Wasn't the "early Challenger",the "Khalid"?
@@stevenbreach2561I believe it was the Shir 2. Khalid was a development of the Chieftain for Jordan.
Shir was a planned Chieftain variant for Iran. That fell through with Shir 1’s becoming Khalids and Shir 2’s reworked to become Challenger 1.
Tank was supposed get a 1200hp engine. Warthunder nah f that just put the standard 750hp engine in. Can't have the US have nice things.
What’s the difference between the M60 2000 and M60 120S?
They’re both the same thing
Different names for the same project. My full video goes into it more in detail
@@ConeOfArcThey aren’t the same project. The M60-2000 was a separate upgrade program that retained the 105mm gun in an uparmored M60 turret with a new FCS.
The M60 2000 kept the M60 turret and 105mm gun, upgrading it with additional turret armor and a new FCS. The 120S is the tank in the video, an entire M1A1 turret installed on an M60 hull.
There was a development of the M-60 retaining the M-60 Turret, but up-gunned to 120mm and new electronics and power package. It did not go anywhere
What happened was that potential customers went with a less capable but cheaper Israeli upgrade to the M60 or they went with actual M1 Abrams of their own.
Funny thing about this, for the movie American Sniper they CG’ed an older tank to look like an Abrams but they didn’t bother for some of the shots where it’s in the background of a close up, which made me think that they somehow got the one of these tanks that was made to film that movie for a while
Don’t forget the Turkish M60 modernization project which looks like a T-90M turret placed on a M60 with additional ERA.
not a t90 turret but okay
why the hell are we not doing this this is a great option and would be far less expensive for customers
we could make a better version with a much stronger hull that isnt from 1960
Sherman + Pershing = Shershing
Patton + Abrams = Pabrams? Patrams?
We already got this. The CM-11.
imagine if they mounted the turret onto a toyota
now that's one hell of a technical
also hello WW2 tank destroyer abomination, nice to see you again
Turkey fields a lot of converted m60s, although their turrets weren't completely replaced.
I wonder if it’s possible to purchase the engine and transmission that powers an Abrams?
I don’t think there’s enough room in the engine compartment to fit the Abrams engine
Too expensive if an export model
I want to see the reverse
the boys just casually aiming at eachother like hey bro
Economic Abrams. I don't see why it won't works, especially for the countries who already owned M60.
These tanks need an automated loading system doing away with the manual loader.
And I wont be suprised if they continue to modernise the M60
I’m still surprised that they didn’t bother offering the vehicle upgrade to Taiwan as Taiwan has a shit ton of M60 chassis.
When you want buy Abrams but not enough budget
CHIBI ABRAMS
I would call it the M1 light
The M1 Lite
Whenever a military contractor realizes they made a useless product, they always pivot to, “….Well we could always sell it to another country”
Did you know that if you are a driver in abrams you slowly die, it is because abrams armor is made of a little bit of uranium.
Depleted Uranium is not very radioactive.
Your ignorance shines brighter than the Uranium
O Brasil deveria ter comprado essa ideia.
Modernizar os M 60 .😊
I’m calling this the atton abrams + patton
10.0
I think this is specially made for taiwan, because you know aside from oil what US also really loves, are those sweet sweet microchip
Good as an oven
I have seen the m1 abrams that is shown at the start in real life
Ah yes a nice addition to World Of Tianks.
*Yes i pronounce it ti-ank.*
POV: legos when you take M60 turret out on M1 hull and m1 turret and put on m60 or like my friend did and put a tiger to H turret and put it on a MAUS hull and maus turret on tiger 2 hull
I want this on WT now
It is dumbass
The Real tonk XD
an M60/Abrams would be easier to make than another Abrams, simply put: you only need to produce a new turret and engine for a fleet of retired tanks that are in your backyard, very efficient in wartime production
We turks have m60 with t90 turret
cool frankentank
not a t90 turret
@@JulietteWhiskey something between Leo and strv actually its more ugly
@@JulietteWhiskey roketsan mzk turret looks like a russian tank turret

ur OC is so cute now❤❤❤
Frankenstein
Просто когда вы ставите на телегу башню в 2 раза тяжелее чем была расчитанна, то телега неменуемо умирает.
The 2 minutes!
still a better tank then the scorpion my country have for decades
I meeeeaan, didn't general dynamics is already pushing their M60 upgrade kits, looks more efficient for the budget than just slapping an M1 turret.
Frankenstein tank
US offered this tank to Turkey
Well it's no surprise of tanks happen to be made up of conversions pf two tanks.
120 mm = 460 damage
By wot
400, 460 is 128mm
130@@SquallHornet
T-90 if it was American
Searchin my country got M60 or M48s. Sadly we only have Soviet junks (i mean T54 good but it so rusted, BEGGIN FOR RETIRE)
cone where u from? I saw that u are on the WT LATAM PROJECT, there's an old gameplay on ur channel with u playing with some Brazilians
Abrams Avenue?
What’s the song cone?
Nah man, no need for upgrades, just slap some ERA on it and call it good
Predecessor??? Didn't m60 came before the abrams?
What do you get? Gaijin being lazy as hell. That's what.
While the former Warsaw Pact countries are dumping their old Soviet Era armored vehicles and tanks, they will be replaced with these POSs.
Does it have a ejecting turret to compete against Russian tanks it has to have the ejecting turret and how many cosmonauts does it take to man it
Prem tank in WT?
M1 Abrams has A 105mm not a 120mm🤨
M1a1 has 120mm gun. Only the original Abrams had 105
@@ht8520brother, i never said anything about the M1a1 abrams im talking about the M1 Abrams
@@Zarqpickford I had entirely forgotten about that model until I looked it up honestly. You just always hear "120mm smoothbore" in reference to abrahms.
It was an 105 mm gun not 120mm
The 120S used a 120mm gun.
Did it keep the piss hatch??
Gaijin when?
Wheres the video
M61?
Mine know
The M-60A3 & the M-60A5 are very good tanks and I would love to see them in action in Ukraine!
Wow so there is a back up if US losses tanks in war
( unlike Sherman's in WW2, Abrahams are hard produce, special in war time)
it wouldnt be that good though, the m60s hull is from the 1960s and its armor is baisically paper, the only good part is the turret
Where full video? >:(
If you look towards the bottom of the short there should be a link. You can also go to my cursed by design playlist and find it in there
@@ConeOfArcyoutube layout doesnt show where is full video properly
Gayjin when?
Cool
It looks like a baby Abrams
a future burning hulk
No one uses them 😂
it was a prototype and was never even thought of being use for combat retard. there is litteraly zero use of putting the turret on a hull with like 20 times less armor
Ok sir yapalot
Another example of the U.S. taking a step backwards, combining new and old.
.... anyone remember the joke that was called the Sgt. York???
That is what happens when you use "off the shelf parts" to Jerry rig a weapon into existence, as well as using an AIRCRAFT radar system instead of taking the L and getting a licensed version of the Gepard radar system to make life easier, if somewhat more expensive.
I saw this in the opening scene of American Sniper and thought it was just a Hollywood thing of making an older tank (which is cheaper to get) to look like the modern tank.
Mine?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
These should have been sent to Ukraine not our Abrams tanks. We still have m60 tanks in reserve.
Quite sure the m60 is obsolete, it was made to face T-72s but without the ERA
Есть
Poor m60s like "just let me fucking retire!" 😂
Tank warfare is obsolete.
Absolutely not. NLAW and Fpv drones are kicking bass but could very easily be countered by APS systems and ai targeting when systems like those become more common
@@iwyrilja google 'last great tank battle'
squished abrams
huge shot trap
*spaced armor. Look it up on google
Also, modern tank ammo doesnt ricochet half as much as a ww2 era shell would. Perhaps some projectiles could ricochet into the hull, but no modern vehicles would have that kinda ammo onboard and a ww2 vehicle firing those kinds of shells would be dealt with from kilometers away
When will they create an Abram’s with an M60 turret? You may be asking “why would they EVER do that?” And my answer is just cus
