    It was 1971 or 1972. A friend and I were covering a Raiders concert for a university student newspaper. We ended up in a hotel room with Paul Revere and Mark Lindsay all night talking religion and politics. Both are extremely bright and well versed on current affairs.

    I was privileged to see Paul perform in Marion, Ohio in April, 2014. He used a cane, and his son had to help him on and off stage, but his wit and showmanship were still strong. He was a professional until the end, and I'll miss him.

I can't count how many times we went to his shows. We'd talk with him after the shows, run into him on the streets, at restaurants, the Mall...he was always friendly, funny...I'll miss him!

    It was a dark day when this Rock'n' Roll icon passed form this earth to the Home in Heaven. We will miss his great music and his fun personality, but Heaven will be richer for it.
    He is there now entertaining those whom have gone before us, and he will be there to entertain us once again someday. I was there from the beginning, have all of the original band's albums and have loved them from day one. Their music, their fun on stage; and, if you have ever been one of the lucky ones who had one of his three-cornered hats sent flying out to you from stage AND still have that hat, you have truly been blessed for it! Their music was always so fun to dance to also. RIP Paul and hope to see you on the other side someday. God bless you for the legacy you have left us.

    Forgot how funny and what a pro performer Paul Revere (RIP) was and how he & Mark Lindsey could make “corny” look cool. I got to hang with him & wife Sidney Revere often in Honolulu at their “Legends In Concert” Tribute Show in Waikiki while working on Easter Seals TV Telethon each year. She played Marilyn Monroe very well. They owned the Vegas version of that show also.

    I saw Paul Revere & The Raiders last year at the Acadia Theater in St. Charles Illinois. Paul has hired some young guns to knock out the Raider songs, and they are pretty good. Even his Son was on stage, in the rear playing guitar. Paul introduced him later in the show. They put on a great show. Paul is really funny on stage. At this concert he had his arm in a sling, so he was limited to what he could play on the keyboards. I admit that Dave Marko is a good singer, but Mark spoiled us with his great vocals. I wasn't going to go to this concert, but I'm glad I did. Paul passed away from cancer a couple of months after this concert. A real trooper. Even though he knew he was dying, he still loved his fans and played until the end. I also saw Mark in Waukegan, Illinois at the Genessee Theater. He was on the Happy Together Tour with Flo & Eddie (The Turtles), The Association, and The Grass Roots. As much as I liked the vocals that Mark laid down on the Raider records, he has just a fraction of the vocal power he had. Father time has not been kind to Mark's voice.

    • @4branson
      @4branson 7 років тому +1

      Not really hired guns. Doug Heath (guitar) has been with Paul since 1973, Ron Foos (bass) has been with Paul since 1975, and Danny Krause (keyboards) since 1980, and his son Jamie Revere has been with the band on and off since 1990. Darren Dowler is the current lead singer and has been since 2008 so that is probably who you saw. He is great as is Carl Driggs in this video. Doug, Ron, Danny, Jamie, Darren, & Tommy Scheckel (drums) are still rockin' as Paul Revere's Raiders.

    • @kenny4504
      @kenny4504 7 років тому

      Gary, thanks for your reply. I had no idea that his band mates were with him that long. I kind of lost track of them after Mark left. With all the bands that tour now, it seems as if there is no loyalty. Once the tour ends, the band leader, usually the lead vocalist fires the guys, then rehires them or new ones for the next tout. I must say that they are very good musicians and entertainers. I'm glad that I saw Paul before he passed away.

    • @4branson
      @4branson 7 років тому

      You are very welcome. Paul was one of kind that I got to be around plus interview. Just a great man and that's why band members stayed with him so long! Go see Paul Revere's Raiders if they come to your town, it will be the same band you saw and they are great!

It was the first time she actually really heard of them and before they were even halfway through the show I was having more fun watching her laughing and dancing around than looking at the stage. She got embarrassed though when Paul noticed her and pointed at us and said "that guys getting laid tonight!!!! " She wanted to crawl in a hole when everyone started clapping and cheering. LOL.

    This "performance" is one of the primary reasons Mark left the Raiders. He wanted the band to develop a more serious approach to music and Revere wanted a "novelty act". Hell, the Raiders (especially Paul) stopped playing on their recordings around 1967 because session musicians were better. Even here, Revere really doesn't play on stage. He was too busy being a clown, and not a funny one.
