At one time major airlines paid their staff very well as they attempted to get the best staff into ground roles they had to tempt them away from other jobs in customer facing and baggage/loading roles. But the airlines used the pandemic as a way to get rid of those experienced staff and replace them with very young minimum payment candidates. This backfired badly on many of them causing delays and cancelled services as they couldn’t recruit sufficient staff willing to work the hours/shifts needed.. if you tell a young girl planning a night out on the town that she then has to forgo her social life to work a delayed flight it’s not going to be long before she gets a job outside the airline. And that’s what was happening. The major airlines of countries where seen as a career for life and at times you could see fathers and daughters working together which was a sign that the airline was fostering a family atmosphere and brand loyalty. But as I said airlines got greedy and despite huge Gov handouts etc to keep them afloat they have hiked their prices up at the same time as cutting down onboard services and food. In this case it’s Lufthansa and they will pay out the rises because airlines are making huge profits and strikes hemorrhage money
Avelo flys to more obscure and secondary airports. The airline itself is unremarkable and I don’t live in a city that Avelo serves. Their route network is not very big and I think that they serve smaller cities & suburbs. They also fly into cities that have no airline service. I never thought that they would make it this far, for so long. :-)
I will never understand why a union would bring an airline to its knees. I would think that Lufthansa is an essential part of Germany and elsewhere. Why upset your customers that you serve? An unreliable airline is a bad choice for travelers. Thanks DJ!
Because that’s exactly what unions are for. It’s bad enough these big Airlines, especially Lufthansa come up with new airlines every 5 years to lower the payroll of their employees. And I’m saying that as a German who loves Lufthansa.
When you grow older and having experienced the harsh reality of the real world while trying to earn a living where companies only care about the bottom line and brutally lack of empathy from shareholders (that is you, me, and everyone else), you'll understand why union is so important since its inception. There was a time I felt the same way about unions, now I have an appreciation for its existence.
@@Paul_Sleepingexactly. I once did a mandatory school Internship at the Hamburg Airport. And for one week I was following around the Groundwork crew. Those guys work so hard and are absolutely crucial for these billion dollar companies, yet they get paid barely over the minimum wage. These strikes just highlight how important these guys really are.
@@Paul_Sleeping I fully support unions. I think that they mostly benefit employees however, I think that national airlines are essential to the lives of many travelers and should operate uninterrupted. Also, I’m not a youngster, far from it. I’ve seen and experienced many, many things in my life. I’ve also seen unions that nearly destroy a company. That is not of benefit to its working staff. Thanks for your response. :-)
Finally a recap where Boeing isn’t the main story
He milked the Boeing stuff cuz of the algorithm
Good to hear some Avelo news
Ty dj!!
Chorundoe. ? Aanacheviyan. Arikkomban.
Asiana Airlines designation is "OZ" spooky...
Good news with asiana I don’t understand why Sydney has so many flights to Korea, multiple a day and Melbourne has like none.
Asiana resumed its seasonal service back to Melbourne on the A350
Which is still nothing compared to the multiple flights a day Sydney gets. Even Brisbane gets more flights to Korea.@@kinqxx1
Do you know when the strike will be in FRA starting week of Feb 26th ? Thks for the help
Great video and info
A new flight coming to me home airport of MHT is always good news.
Lufsthansa strike overall good for aviation workers, which is good in general all around.

Looks like economic situation in Germany is soooo good...
And I thought Asiana’s big story is that another regulating body has approved the KAL merger
Lufthansa should listen to theirs employees for me benefits 😊
AVELO: I had never heard of them until today.

Asiana like Vistara will be gone soon.

Corporations need to take care of their employees not the lazy ass stockholders. They just want more money for doing nothing.
