im a manga reader and i've been anticipating this episode since like season 5, they did it SO MUCH justice, it's even better in the anime than the manga imo

@@jasmine9581 yes!! the dull color in his eyes was heartbreaking, they made him look even more dead here than In the manga, not to mention how fluid the animation was during his fight and his walking sequence (where the blood dropped onto the grass), and the MUSIC and sounds design.
the wound made the nitroglycerin to run into his heart and his own quirk made his heart explode. shigaraki probably did cause a fatal wound but bakugo killed himself with his own quirk thats what caused the explosion. The author said this and comfirmed it. If you search up the question the amswer is quoted similar to how i said it😅

Shigiraki shot out spikes, bakugo went flying, there's a hole through his chest to his heart.....shiggy killed him. Saying he killed himself just seems stupid and extra.

You guys are the first people I've seen reacting to this episode who immediately got that he blew his heart up. In the manga they had a much more in-depth explanation of what happened; he had his quirk awakening and basically the nitroglycerin was flooding his blood vessels, that last impact was too much for his heart to take. (This is not spoilers, the anime just didn't do a great job portraying what happened in that moment)
