Yes, Vinny - they are variable speed controlled slot cars. Driven with a standard type of slot car hand throttle. Only difference is that the digital hand throttles have a button on the back of them and when you press it, a signal is send to the digital chip and it actuates the plunger which pushes down the small rod in the middle of the guide pin. At the bottom of the small rod it then extends down into the slot and the digital path along the slot recognises that the 'flag' part of the rod is down and the 'flipper' in the cross-over piece allows it to change lanes. Quite ingenious actually !
not really too sure - I got the basic digital 3 car edition, then added some extra pieces - then bought too much, so sold the stuff I didn't need ! All the scenery I did with stuff that I already had lying around. I guess if I had to start from scratch, and had to buy it all - around $800 i suppose.

How much did your track cost to build?
