The Alpstein is a subgroup of the Appenzell Alps and belongs to the Swiss cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and St. Gallen.
The Berggasthaus Aescher-Wildkirchli (also: Berggasthaus Äscher) was built in one of the caves of the Wildkirchli below the Ebenalp (1640 m above sea level). The mountain inn has existed since 1846, making it one of the oldest mountain inns in Switzerland. The current building was erected in 1860 in place of a rock shelter for hermit monks. It is under monument protection.
You can reach the mountain inn with the Wasserauen-Ebenalp cable car from Wasserauen. It can be reached in a 15-minute walk from the Ebenalp via a hiking trail that leads through several caves.
In the immediate vicinity is the Wildkirchli Museum, where prehistoric finds from the caves are exhibited. In the neighboring cave there is a small cave chapel. The mountain inn is only open in summer, usually from the beginning of May to the end of October.
In the 2010s, the mountain inn became a world-renowned travel destination. In 2015 National Geographic called it the “most beautiful place on earth”. A photo of the mountain inn is featured on the cover of Destinations of a Lifetime, published the same year. The approximately 200,000 visitors a year increasingly overburdened the building and infrastructure. Overnight stays used to be offered. But the rush was too great, so that the hostel had to be closed between 2017 and 2021.
Against a breathtaking mountain backdrop with beautiful landscapes. Curved paths lead through a fantastic mountain world and open up breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Seascape, babbling brooks and alpine roses everywhere you look. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the run.

In 2015 National Geographic called it the “most beautiful place on earth”. I hope you like this unique run and please subscribe to my channel and forward it. I look forward to many comments :-)
Stunning thank you thank you this is exactly what I need to follow when I run on my treadmill in flat pancake dry gray Kuwait😂
Thanks Abeer Al-Qattan and greetings to Kuwait :-)
🥰🥰
Thanks :-)
This is just beautiful! The views, oh my!
Thanks 🙂🇨🇭
pratim dok vozim sobni bicikl, predivana priroda, super video!
Pozdrav iz Srbije🏃🏃🏃❤
Many thanks and best wishes to Servien :-) Andi
Wow! That was beautiful....I can't believe how steep those trails are. You are brave! :)
Thank you for your comment. The steep trails are more for climbers than runners. They are dangerous and require knowledge and experience. So please do not imitate without the experience and security. Before I became a runner, I spent a lot of time in the mountains. My highest climbs were 7000 meters above sea level...
Breathtaking! Hope I can see this for myself one day! Excellent video work!
Thank you for your comment and enjoy my videos🙂🇨🇭
Amazing ❤️
Thank you Stanislava, welcome to my channel. Andi🙂🇨🇭

Hallo Serge, natürlich, bitte sende mir deine Mailadresse an: running ät shared-files.de
Wow.. just wow
Thanks Rok Run😁🇨🇭
I want to go running there one day
@@rokrun 👍
I've never seen this kind of video before...very pretty and so dangerous. I'm walking on the treadmill and in suspense to see whare you're going next...
Thanks :-)
What scenery!! keep on thinking about the fall off on some of the slopes!! They look serious, think I would run with a harness and line. How do they make those types of tracks? No access for machinery so carved by hand? Love the lake towards the end. What sort of temperature is it at the time of running?
Tony
Yes, the Alpstein, as this mountain range is called, is really uniquely beautiful. The paths have all been created by hand about 100 years ago. No machine fits up there. The mountains are very steep, but not very high, about 2000 meters above sea level. Thus it was warm in the summer also approx. 25 degrees Celsius. Greetings Andi😁🇨🇭
What are you using to record your videos? They are so smooth compared to other virtual run videos I have watched.
Gopro 🙂
This is first time I took the treadmill into the Swiss Alps, narrow fit. 😅
enjoy Switzerland :-)
Lg Andreas
Minute 6:05 Chihiro-vibe. :)))
😅
I wish the music was quieter.
Thanks for your feedback, yes I know.... all newer videos are without music. Also I have a playlist with the name "no music". Andi🙂🇨🇭
You can always turn the volume down and play music in your headphones using a different device! That’s what I do!
Hello good afternoon!
¿Would you be interested in selling your youtube channel?
I would like to buy it.
I will wait for your answer,
greetings!! ❤️
thank you for your comment. A hobby cannot be sold...
I didn't like this, in fact I cut my treadmill time because of it. For me, first it was more walking speed than running and second why even have metrics when they're not even remotely relative to the user's experience. I give it a D minus. I use treadmill running videos a lot during my injury recovery. Not this one again, though. Bonne chance...
Hello Patrick. I have over 100 videos on my channel. Very few are trail runs. And with the mountains it's like this: it goes up slowly (walking), but down faster. So just take a straight ahead video such as ua-cam.com/video/nCVvTOl6Km0/v-deo.html and don't get excited about speed changes on the treadmill. And the measured values are 100 percent correct. Because the video was recorded without a single cut. Good luck on the treadmill, Andi
