  • As part of the push for all harbour craft and pleasure craft to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 to be in line with Singapore’s national net-zero ambitions, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore will require all new harbour craft to be fully electric, use cleaner biofuels or be compatible with net-zero fuels by 2030.
Electrification of the harbour craft fleet is a key strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our maritime sector, and our SMI-funded maritime research projects are enablers in this transition. From identifying optimal charging infrastructure locations, exploring charging solutions, to developing advanced data-driven simulation models, our research partners from the Institute of High Performance Computing, A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University, Energy Research Institute @ NTU and Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine, Singapore, are paving the way for a sustainable future.
