You point out that fuel would come out at the point you disconnected it. It didn't because it was empty. What if you do have gas in the system? How do you keep it from draining your entire tank. Crimp it? put some sort of cap on it? thanks in advance!

Yeah you would crimp it on the line going from the fuel tank to the filter or you could cork the end of the line
