The first finger is fine but it’s impossible to do the next without slipping into either a back or front loop and everything gets too tight to insert a hook. If you want to continue without throwing away the arm…..crochet around after completing the finger and keep crocheting until you make a palm with the original finger becoming a thumb. Decrease to finish off.
This is such an amazing technique to make hands! I'm sure I will need a few tries before getting it right but it's totally worth it. I think it's going to make my doll look amazing 😊

Hi Kaz, Thanks for your lovely comment. We don't have a video for the basic hand, but it is much easier and uses basic shaping which can be found in other videos. The chain start is used to begin (just as for the advanced hand) and then once you reach the hand section there are a few rounds of increasing and then decreasing to create the shape. If you are confident making the legs and body then the basic hands will be a breeze. If you get stuck though please send us an email on help@toftuk.com and we can help out. I bought one of the books and I was sooooo confused because of this. I have read the pattern, it says "DC" then checked the pictures whith clearly SCs, so I came here to check which one shall I use. 😂
