  • The Minolta Maxxum QTsi introduced the Maxxum lineup to cameras designed to be almost as minimalist as possible. The QTsi was a program-mode-only interchangeable-lens 35mm film SLR that had select scene modes for some subject specificity and control. This tutorial walkthrough series provides a complete rundown on how to use the Minolta Maxxum QTsi.

I have a few of these. One is brand new in the box. I must be lucky in that, so far, none of mine have developed the mirror degradation problem. For what they are, these plastic Minoltas are actually quite good in my opinion.

These are definitely good for the cost and as easily carried and lightweight options, no doubt. I've always suspected that the mirror tarnish issue has to do with storage conditions, though I don't have any evidence to support that (other than when I was buying and reselling cameras the ones of these from the south where there's high humidity seemed to have worse tarnish, but that's anecdotal evidence at best.)

@@DavidHancockyes storage conditions are very important with any film gear. I have tried to keep everything in cool, dry areas, mostly in camera bags with dessicant packets if lenses are included. And I make sure to keep them stored without tension on shutters or batteries installed. It’s been working fine for well over 15 or 20 years.. 🤞!

I can see these as being amateur cameras that are often left in cars, garages, beach bags. Better than a point and shoot, but not enough features for a hobbiest and above who understand maintainence.@@DavidHancock

Those were a step or two up, I forget which. Good cameras, too. Surprisingly, they used to sell used for less than these.
