Singapore Istana's Change of Guards Ceremony is back on the first Sunday of every month! [小毅世界]
Hi everyone, today we will go to the Istana to watch once a month changing of the guard ceremony. This tradition dates back to 1959, when the late Yusof Ishak was the head of state. At that time the Presidential Palace was guarded by the Singapore 1st Battalion Infantry Regiment.
But in 1968, with the creation of the Singapore Armed Forces, the use of combat troops to guard the Istana ceased. Replaced by Singapore Armed Forces Military Police 20 personnel to guard the Presidential Palace.
The format of the ceremony is based on the changing of the guard ceremony held at Buckingham Palace in England.
At 5.45pm the new batch of guards will march from Orchard Road to meet the outgoing guards at the main gate of the Istana.

At first was 1SIR, then 1Gds (1968 to 1980) and Provost Unit in 1980, which changed its name to Military Police Command. There is an information board on display during the COG event day. Thanks for sharing.

Can we scrap these MP performing these silly Taiwan Mailiary style drills. we should follow the US silent drill style. Should wear No: 1 dress instead of these silly looking outfit. Shouldnt the Guards unit involve instead of the MP.
