About Hold My Hands, in my mind it is very likely the queer coding is intentionally there, not just in the song and the music video, but also in the live performance. One of the outfits he uses for his solo is a shirt inspired by Nana (a female character from a music/romance anime) and he runs around on stage while rainbow confetti come flying out. And there is the bi flag colors in the animation of the music video. Also the more visible make up in the music video for the rockstar persona, and the short/skirt thing he is wearing. These people can't even say "They don't know what that means, it's just a rainbow", because I have seen a video that talks about Stray Kids messages/solidarity for the queer community over the years and it mentioned they once went to NYC pride. Plus there is the fact on stage he holds Lee Know's hand at the end of his solo during the transition to Youth. And in the Japan tour dates (3 days in total) he actually changed the last Hold My Hand now to say Lee Know Hyung Hold My Hand Now in two of those days and he Lee Know Hyung baby Hold My Hand Now in the last one. Like the minsung stuff (holding hands on stage during the transition) could be fanservice. But I don't think Stray Kids are the type to just insert things in their music and videos just to do fanservice. There have been tons of artists that have put signifier of queerness in their art without ever being able to come out. The all "don't assume other people sexuality" refrain kpop fans use whenever the possibilty that a kpop idol might be queer, is nice in theory except everyone that says that is assuming straightness as a defeault. And it's telling you to not assume queerness. Sorry for the super long comment.
Nah it’s totally queer coded af. Now if that is just his way of showing support or sending a message of his own life 🤷🏻♀️ It makes me feel very seen and happy though so whatever it is, I love it
12:17 Felix has mentioned several times that this is inspired by Beauty and the Beast but there have been some pretty wild theories so he politely but firmly set boundaries on Instagram with “I’m only going to say this once. Unfair was inspired by watching the Disney film Beauty and the beast. I wrote this song as if I was the beast, seeing from his POV. Enjoy :)”
I don’t even know, but Han always makes such queer coded videos/music and I Love that. Unsure if that is the intention (I was still screaming at his rainbow confetti in the live), but my gay little heart is always so happy with his music 😂
Han dedicated the song to himself, rejoices in his transformation from an alien to a real person Han even told what the song is dedicated to Han gives a hand to past self, is proud of his path Reactor can make any interpretation of the song if he sees a different image
Han talks about the song and MV : I'm going to save myself in the past. I hope that I'm saved from the past. I believe that I from the future can really help me from the past.. "If you try, you will become who you are now. Cheer up and don't give up! It won't be easy for you, but you have to go through all the difficulties to become yourself" - that's the message.. There's nothing special to add.
If you ever watched the Beauty and the Beast, you would understand the flower. Gaston has to find true love before the flowers last peddle falls from it, and the rose dies. If he doesn't find true love, he stays a beast forever. He found Belle and fell in love, but he had to let her go so she could save her sick dad. Something happens, and he has to save her, but he dies. When she cried over him, he magically returned and as a human. Lol, that is the Disney version. Felix is the Beast. You see him in one shot having dinner with someone for just a second, and the outline is blurred, but it alludes to it being Belle. Felix's song is his interpretation of the movie, and for him to make you feel those emotions of the beast is amazing and a masterpiece. It is my favorite song out of all of the 8 solos, and i love all them. The kids are true musical artists.❤
While I do agree that Hold My Hand is queer anthem vibes, I believe it is more a story of self-acceptance than one of romance. The 2 versions of Han in the mv, his current self is reaching back to his past self through music to comfort the boy he was back then. I think the person who dropped the pick was meant to be himself or a sign from the universe that music was his path. I really love the mv and song. Go Hannie my little rockstar!
My top 4 are: 1. Ultra-Changbin(not bc he's my ult) 2. Unfair-Felix 3. Railway-BangChan 4. Han-Han(Anybody else says, "Lee Know Hyung, Hold My Hand now at the end)
My favourite solo tracks from the album are Hold My Hand, Hallucination and So Good tied for 1st place, closely followed by Railway and As We Are (which I started loving more after the MV dropped) but I love the other members' songs too
"Hold my hand is very queer coded, was definitely coded by a queer" my favorite part of this reaction. Speak your truth
