I remember the Dogs in space poster in a video shop near the north balwyn pools. The thing i love about that film and Ollie Olsen and Roland S howard is they are quintessential iconic Melbourne. And each one of them transcended the suburbs and etched their art and passions into the vast human collective. As vast as the world is knowing about you all makes me proud to have grown up in the same environment looking for magic. Thanks Richard you have had a huge influence on me and many of my friends over the years. Good on you man. Respect.
Who's still pissed at the record label suppressed such a great act of Max Q and didn't bother promoting it properly? Thank you for uploading the memorial.
A scene I never got to walk within (just too young, alas), but I hold dearly to this day. Thanks Oliie for all the swooning tunes. And Richard - for your continued art, immortalising the Melbourne post punk scene. We've been lucky to have you both doing your thing.
For years, I thought the lyrics were, "so many used balloons". Anyway. I remember being disappointed by Max Q on television - The Cure had just released Lullaby and Ollie and Hutch were just so out of the moment. They kind of laughed at hair and makeup. It was shit. In retrospect, they were dismissing their future. Disintegration was too weird, INXS too expected. Neither Oliie nor Hutch wrote more.
Still listening to MaxQ, after 35 years. Good noise and important message. RIP fella,

Great tribute Richard. Many thanks
😮. Looooved Max Q. An extremely underrated/ unrecognised album that’s still timeless. RIP & enjoy your reunion with Micheal ✌🏼
Oliie was a lion of Australian pop and roll. May his memory be a blessing.
Everything musical from OO was genius but between No! and Max Q (both ends of the OO Musical spectrum) are the work of a master of his craft.
Creative Genius 🏴☠️❤️
R.I.P. Great Man. ❤
RIP Ollie. Sad to see you go.
RIP legend
Embarrassed to say I only knew his name… what a warm human tribute
Its a shame so young so talented
RIP OO
Funny guy!
