I think the reason why when we see a homestuck fan irl they're our immediate best friend is because... Homestuck fans are so hard to find, for me at least, and you share an interest with that person. Even when our ships, theories, and headcanons are different, we still shed those tears and we still love the comic just the same. I still haven't found one though
homestuck brings people together. I actually met my girlfriend at a convention were i was Tavros and she was Gamzee. After a lot of talking we got together and even cosplay married. We are very happy together.
I like the music in homestuck, I love and hate all the characters. The Plot and story is so unique and different I can't relate it to anyting else. Its so original.I think its the best webcomic ever XD
About an hour ago, I was having so much fun chatting with a stranger online about my interests but once I mentioned Homestuck they signed off, not saying anything
I remember the _very_ first time I was introduced to Homestuck, I was at a con and one of the people I was with said I should try to count the trolls. I, in my former gullibility, didn't know what a troll was, so she explained that they were gray teenagers with orange horns. I immediately started to notice some. I didn't know this at the time, but the very first cosplay I saw was of Equius. I think they were with someone dressed as Nepeta as well. Wandering around the con, I noticed several trolls I now recognise as Karkat, Kanaya, Terezi, and others. Now, fast forward several months, I'm really into Undertale, and Toby Fox's music. So, of course, I'm reintroduced into Homestuck. At first I was confused, and my only thoughts were, "Where are the dam trolls?" But, I persevered, and only skipped the intermission (I know, I'm a sinner). I haven't finished Homestuck yet, and I'm not actually sure if I ever will, but I _do_ know I will always enjoy it.
The thing I personally love about Homestuck is that the characters, despite all of their differences, truly are a family. Even through the death, and the sad parts, they were stuck together and that really speaks to me.
It's so hard to find other Homestuck fans for me too and I only have like 15/16 friends online who like homestuck too, I mean they taught me about Homestuck, they showed me one gif video and i loved it XD.
+Claire and Terezi “The Scalemate Queen” AJ Yea, and in real life it's hard two ;^: I only found ONE PERSON at my school that likes Homestuck and we just became best friends ;V;
The thing that really drew me into Homestuck Would be three things One the characters There are so many different characters With such a vast variety of personality types And disabilities Which really gives everybody something to relate to And makes every type of person a hero II would be the storyline Just all the shenanigans and just how is brought togetherAnd if the insanity of the idea in general 3 would be the fandom It was actually my friend Abby who made me start reading Homestuck One day
I love homestuck. It's interactive, and somehow falls together even though it's WAY random. Our friends enjoy constant cosplay, and we have been obsessing over it in every way. I think that the best thing about Homestuck is that it sort of reaches everyone's interests. It's not just science fiction; It's also comedy and romance, and other things that people have interest, and the characters are so much like people in reality that you can actually relate to them in some moments. You know, honestly, till you just mentioned that, it didn't occur to me that there were no male interviewees. I'll keep that in mind if we do a Part 2 :)
Male cosplayers in general are usually swept under the rug... But it seems in like almost all of the big fandoms right now that there is a major infestation of the squealing pre-teen fangirls.
At first I only kept reading Homestuck because I wanted to see how the trolls would be incorporated into the story, but what made me love it so much was that it really made me feel. They are so many emotions that get to you reading this and you really start to connect and fall in love with the characters. You start to care about them and want to see what they'll do next and how things will work out for them. This hiatus is driving me crazy and I just really want to see what happens, so that's why I really like Homestuck. cliffnotes version: the feels man
A year later and can relate to this. 1st time I read the first 5 acts, it was to get to the trolls and I wasn't enjoying it. I try again a couple years later, but with a mindset of I wonder what these characters are about, what events unfold. I was actually looking foward to the whole story vs just the humor from the trolls. I gotta say, I like Jade and Especially Rose a lot more because of it. Rose is a smart ass and I tend to think those types of characters are funny. And Andrew Hussie somehow made me feel for even the characters that seemed unlikable like Karkat and Vriska. How the hell he made me love a troll who gets stressed out too easily and a troll who lied a lot in the past. Now I'm on act 2 of Act 5 and kind of am where I left off. This 2nd read through I enjoyed the vast majority of.
This was AMAZING! The Doctor coming along at the end too...Dude, that was too cool! I just loved how the questions were posed and everything was amazingly unbiased! I loved it! :3
I think what got me and many other people were all the characters in Homestuck. So much stuff to cosplay, roleplay, and share that you never really get tired of it. And because of the many characters its almost inevitable that you find at least one you can relate to.
A big part of reading Homestuck is that it is up to a reader's interpretation and it allows you to use your imagination. In fact, it encourages you to. The long texts can be daunting but as as person who is reading the comic a second time, you really do connect with the characters. The fandom is pretty accepting when it comes to different headcanons and pairings. What I love most about it is that we are all inspired to participate, whether it is throuh music, art, cosplay, or writing.
oh gog feeling jams...oh my gosh i do love the fandom!! and no one should ever worry about whether or not they'll be accepted because all the people i've met have been amazing and everyone accepts you prettymuch no matter what . and yes the animations and music are just amazing!!! really everything is.... :)
this video is amazing at how well some people make their points. its also entertaining if you watch in the background whats going on. when the interveiw with nepeta and hero of hearts equius was going on there was a docter cosplay in the background running around and i just thought that was amazing.
Another thing to add about why lots of people love the fandom is the journey that some characters go on. Some characters never change, like Mituna is always spazzy and Eridan never really turns his life around, but others really grow. Karkat, for example, goes from being a grumpy shut-in to a strong leader. Dave slowly but surely breaks from his "cool kid" image to help his friends. Tavros' confidence grows dramatically, and Jadesprite finds her worth. In addition, the overcoming of disabilities is a key factor. Terezi's lack of sight doesn't seem to hinder her at all, Latula is still "rad" without a sense of smell, and Meulin stays as happy as ever though without hearing.
I WANT TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO THE SOLLUX BECAUSE OF HIS REPLY!! There are cases where there have been actual Tavros cosplayers who really can't walk and Homestuck gives them something to coslpay that makes them feel better! I know of a Terezi cosplayer who is ACTUALLY blind and coslpaying as Terezi makes her feel much better about maybe tripping, bumping into people and things, etc. Everyone can relate to a character in some way and it just makes us all happy to be able to relate to them.
The whole thiing ii2 a metaphor for growiing up and because iit ii2 mo2tly teen2 that read Homestuck we can relate 2 the character2 be2t. We fiind iit very iintere2tiing becau2e we fiind a character we can relate 2 (usually our patron troll or one of the four human2.)
The reason HS is so popular is because it's very innovative i n the sense of story-telling. But why it's so GOOOOOD is because the story is completely original. It kinda falls into the Science Fiction, Space Opera, or Epic genres, but it has so many new concepts (which are the base for good sci fi) like the different types of time travel, the whole "paradox space" shit, the fact that the end of the Earth's civilization is such a small event in the history of the universe, the amazing back story for every single character, world and thing, the frequency with which the "this-is-awful-but-it's-for-the-greater-good" thing is used and all the different personalities makes homestuck's story simply BEAUTIFULLY EPIC. Thnx for reading the whole thing.
Whenever you find someone who has the same classpect as you, you feel like you have a connection. Just knowing what theirs is tells you a bit about who they are and it's so cool.
Personally, my reason for liking Homestuck is because of not only the story itself, but the way the characters react to their surroundings, their reactions reach from stoic passiveness to sheer panic, and every one is either incredibly hilarious of ridiculously terrifying, and I love every minute of it.
Homestucks just flock togheter we mannaged to get about 20 of us at my local (and very new and fairly small) convention and well i met my new girlfreind in that group so god am i glad to be in such an amazing fandom
I remember first entering the fandom. :) I was up late one night watching Hetalia, and then suddenly I saw someone post a homestuck picture on my tumblr dashboard. Out of curiosity, I looked it up. Been reading ever since. The cosplaying is really fun. X3 And It helps me meet some really cool people
I have been a part of many fandoms, Kingdom Hearts, Black Butler, Hetalia and Homestuck and i couldn't say i have a favorite. I think certain ones really focus on certain parts(voice dubs, cosplay, fan art, different characters ) that make one ultimate fandom. Homestuck and Hetalia come very close to making an ultimate fandom in my opinion and that's why both of them became so popular so fast(Sorry to include Hetalia in Homestuck comments i know it may get people angry so please NO DRAMA :] )
I think it's also because there is so much freedom with the character's and environment in Homestuck. The character's can be any race you choose, there is a lot of character development for all characters to show many sides of their personalities, there are so many canon ships that it's weird to say one ship ISN'T canon, that's what I like about it at least. Also it keeps you interested even if you don't know what the hell is going on.
The characters are amazing. The story is amazing. The concepts are amazing. The art is amazing. The animations are amazing. The flash game segments are amazing. The presentation is amazing. The music is amazing. The author is amazing. The fandom is amazing. HOMESTUCK IS AMAZING.
It took me sometime and a ton of hesitation later to get into it. Act one, yes, it was slow, but then I kept reading, and some days later, I'm now on Act 5 when the story of the trolls come in.
I usually get into something because of ships , that 's probably one reason why I 'm reading and in the fandom xD Aside from the long constant pesterlogs it _is_ a good comic , with random shits for giggles . And them fanarts & cosplays tho , it 's amazing how far people go with it .
There is a significant difference between what attendees wear--which is NOT what I am talking about!--and what conventions include in their programming. Conventions have control over what is sold in their dealer's room and artist's alley. They have control over their panels and events. Those are the "finite resources" of which I speak, particularly at cons that draw < 10K. That's where I say "conventions should decide if they are anime cons or multimedia cons." Not by what attendees are wearing.
The thing about Homestuck is, once you get past a certain point in the comic, you're trapped and you can't stop reading. It was weird at first, but I eventually came to enjoy this hold it had on me. And that's why it's so awesome.
Alot of people who like homestuck like other "nerdy" things like anime, gaming etc. aswell, including me. Besides, most conventions are about more then just one specific thing, because it would often attract too few customers with only one genre. For instance, all of the conventions I've been to have been for fans of anime, asian music, video games, board games, sci-fi, and fantasy stories all at once.

I liked how the Sollux cosplayer spoke with a lisp.
Its weird that this was 7 years ago

Cries because Homestucks are kinda extinct in 2021
yeah
Not really, maybe on Tumblr but really TikTok, Insta, Reddit, all still active. Not as active as before but still very much alive.
Dat Doctor Who in the background
A big part of reading Homestuck is that it is up to a reader's interpretation and it allows you to use your imagination. In fact, it encourages you to. The long texts can be daunting but as as person who is reading the comic a second time, you really do connect with the characters. The fandom is pretty accepting when it comes to different headcanons and pairings. What I love most about it is that we are all inspired to participate, whether it is throuh music, art, cosplay, or writing.

this video is amazing at how well some people make their points. its also entertaining if you watch in the background whats going on. when the interveiw with nepeta and hero of hearts equius was going on there was a docter cosplay in the background running around and i just thought that was amazing.
