It should be in the contract if you use sick time during the pay period then any extra hours would be regular pay and not overtime pay that would stop this from happening

But don’t these guys have supervisors, managers and no one noticed until the chief retired I think that’s BS this has been happening for a long time and it happen under the chief watch he should be held accountable too.
@@bostongirl3507 Mam, you said put them back on 8hr shifts. I asked you, when were they on 8hr shifts? Every Fire Dept Department works either 24hr. , 48 hour, 2-10hr followed by 2-14hr shifts. Also if they were to do that, that would entail pretty much all of the FDs in the USA, would have to nearly double their number of firefighters to fill 8hr shifts. I’m not quite sure why you think 8 hour shifts would solve this issue.

guy i used to work with would call in sick some one would take his shift at overtime he would take that guys shift at overtime ect ect
That's illegal.
Work shift overtime is on a rotating system, not for “anyone individual” to get all or a “custom” OT shift, so your person you work with is lying.
