  • High Grading is a non-professional type of timber harvesting that removes the best, most valuable trees and degrades forests. It is practiced under several names including: diameter cutting, select, or selective cutting.

    High grading gets a low grade. Smaller clear cuts are what I’ve seen the best response from.

    Hahaha! I agree but this information is not wanted by the timber barons.
    Take the lower grades and leave most of the high grade that will reseed the vacancies. When these young trees are established then maybe high value. Like always with each tree it all depends on the variables.
    But hey, I have no credentials so I can think what I want!
