That refusal to consent to sex would result in rape/murder. The joke was hilarious because of what this revealed about one of the characters, as well as the strained interaction between the two characters in the scene as it is unfolding, but both literally and technically, rape was the punchline of that joke.

17:53 "No rape as a punchline" is so shortsighted. I've actually met someone who said the same "as long as rape isn't the punchline" thing. This same person loved It's Always Funny in Philadelphia. One of the funniest scenes in that show features the punchline "because of the implications". What were the 'implications', hinted to in that punchline? That refusal to consent to sex would result in rape/murder. The joke was hilarious because of what this revealed about one of the characters, as well as the strained interaction between the two characters in the scene as it is unfolding, but both literally and technically, rape was the punchline of that joke.

He made a joke that British actors made all the time just a decade prior. The UK wanted to make their citizens scared to speak out against government tyranny, and so they used Dankula as an example.
It's sattire, it's a joke , tongue in cheek, there's no malice or hate behind it. It's was a risky joke that got totally thrown out of context by a stupid government and jumped on media. The" comedian" Steve McLean is, in my opinion, not thriving in the comedy scene. He appears to take a self-righteous stance without fully understanding ANY sides of the argument. It seems as though he is just capitalizing on the drama to increase his publicity, although this effort has not been very successful in my observation. Count Dankula effectively utilized his argumentative skills and made Steve McLean appear foolish and hypocritical in comparison.
All nations NEED a Constitution that recognizes the rights of each and every human is born with, not granted by any organization, first and foremost of which is the right to think and say anything they wish. It is inherent in being a thinking being and trying to stop it is the real criminal act.
I don't know how the narrator managed to keep it serious and detail the case at the same time without his voice cracking into a laugh

Absolutely amazing documentary on the BBC. Proves the point that everyone wanted to see. Like sure it didn't show all of the sides of the argument maybe it is biased and leaning only to one side, but all the argument that you need to hear is already there.
