  • The respiratory system is responsible for the exchange of gases between air outside the body and blood inside the body. It begins at the nose and runs to the lungs as branching tubes ending in microscopic alveoli. The lungs are filled with air and emptied by movements of the walls of the thorax and the diaphragm translated onto the lungs by the pleural membranes. Let's have a visual look at this anatomy.

    Hi Professor Sam. Thank you so much for all your fascinating videos. I’m a retired nurse but it is so long since I trained and practiced that I have gotten really rusty and I am loving going through your videos and reminding myself of the wonders of the human body. Thank you

    The glove bottle demonstration was great. I struggle to teach my students the principle at time and was hoping to make a prop....and this is a winner.

    The mostly posterior placement of the volume of the lungs is helpful to many creatures when they're in water too deep to stand in with their heads above the surface.

    there's a question does the lungs and diaphragm connected to each other? and why?

    • @readereade2579
      @readereade2579 2 місяці тому

      The diaphragm is the base of the lung and is not connected to it... Because the lung is a membrane that needs to be compressed by muscles, so there is a diaphragm that presses on the lung to get air out
