This must be the most efficient whip pan transition I've ever seen and the video is straight to the point and easy to understand. Thank you so much for doing this!
Wow this is a really clear and fast tutorial. I appreciate that you didn't add in a ton of filler and just get to the point. (You've converted me to a subscriber)
Thanks for the tutorial! I recently switched from Final Cut to Premiere, and have been looking for a suitable transition for a long time. But it turns out you can do it yourself in a minute!
Very nice turorial, quick to the point and the transition doesnt look clunky like many others. But for me it doesnt seem to really seem to work after i pre render it. Everything looks smooth in the preview before rendering but after rendering, it only offsets a little bit and then snaps into place which makes it look super wonky. I was wondering if you have encountered the same problem and/or know a solution?
@@SmertimbaGraphics I fixed it and now also know why that happened. At first I had the offset keyframed so it moved only 480 pixels. The weird thing is, in the preview it looked like that would be enough to do a full cycle. But like I said, after pre rendering it it would just offset a little bit. So i played around with the offset value and found out that it had to offset 1920 pixels to do a full cycle after pre rendering (Which in hindsight is very obvious). Before rendering its doing 3 full cycles though, which isnt really intuitive. Well, turns out I had the preview resolution set to 1/4 instead of Full, which means the values dont ranslate correctly to the preview screen, unless you set it to Full. So moral of the story: Dont trust what the preview is showing you unless you set it to full resolution lol.
@@roadtobufftoni If I could thumbs up this comment a thousand times I would! Been searching for a fix for hours and this comment is the only solution I found on the internet!
I'm new to the Premiere, Can you tell me, if i created this Transition using adjustment layer, can i save it as a preset for later use, and if i apply it on an other projects, will it work exactly same as it's working now, please guide me, as First i was doing it without adjustment layer, directly on the clips and was saving it as a preset, but it was not working well on the other project
You can add this project with an adjustment layer into another project, then open the sequence with the transition, copy the adjustment layer then paste it into another timeline
Great video thank you!! For everybody struggling with the common problem introduced when you render the video that the offset is not aligned correctly I found a solution that works for me! Make sure that your "Frame-size" is the same dimensions as your video preview width & height. (you can change this in your "sequence-settings". Also make sure that when you export the video that your output resolution is the same as the source resolution. This way the correct numbers for the offset actually works the way it is supposed to work. Hope this helps!! @SmertimbaGraphics thanks again for simplifying and explaining this transition!
OK, This is great, but after rendering, the second clip jumps in certain moment while the transitions lasts... i do not know what i am doing wrong.. :(
I've seen people comment about that, but haven't seen the issue myself. I will mention you under the comment where people found the solution though maybe that helps.
Sorry for the noob question, but can you tell me the difference between this and adding gaussian blur to a default push transition? I'm enjoying this method because I can apply it to an adjustment layer and use it as a preset but, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something else as I learn. Thanks!
This way you have more control over the transition, it's quicker to apply, it's a more professional approach overall. But built-in presets are fine to use, they need an overlap between videos though I believe, so not all transitions will look the same based on where video starts or ends
Please review this tutorial! This edit only works during preview. Rendering this edit always results in a split frame for some reason when using the needed aspect ratio value for a full number of cycles. Unless you're using an older version of premiere pro perhaps? Either way, I really liked your succinct style of demonstation. Too bad the edit didn't work!
I had the same problem, and I came back to this video to see if anyone else did. Following the advice of another commenter, I found that the problem was because of two things -- the offset value was slightly off, and for some reason it is also affected when previewing in lower than Full resolution. To fix it, I stopped my playhead on the freeze frame and then adjusted the offset value until it had completed another cycle. I then previewed and rendered it and so far it's working fine. Give it a try!
@@SmertimbaGraphics This was a good tutorial. Thank you for posting it! Might be a good idea to add the advice given by the other commenter 3 months ago into your description as this seems to be a common issue
@@bennetthobbs5989 also saw that comment and checked beforehand. It's not a preview issue. I was already using full resolution preview. Also, my offset value wasn't off, it actually seems like that's what makes it glitch: as soon as i'd change away from the correct value, the frame goes back to its reasonable placement in the cycle. But as soon as i scroll it back to any correct value for a full number of cycles, it jumps to split screen as soon as i land on the exact value. Before rendering, both typing in the correct value and scrolling till you get there will work fine with the frame. After rendering, it's like trying to attach 2 magnets from the wrong ends 👎
*Workaround for anybody facing the same issue:* If you drag your offset value far enough away from the correct value (for me it was about -/+50) and then make the adjustment layer as short as possible on the timeline, then the frame being off is not noticeable as much. It's not ideal but i obsessed over this and found no real explanation or solution to this rendering glitch
The video on the left and right is the same and then just switches. how to i fix that? This might not be visible in yours because you have very similar clips but it does look off if the clips have a very different color setting
Brother! No time wasted, no ego, no bs! Such an impressive tutorial. Thanks!

I don't think I have, it rendered fine for me when I edited the preview clips, what settings do you use for export? What's the bitrate?

Either add more blur to the middle keyframe or make the movement faster by dragging the blue keyframe handles inward
how to do it vertically?
Animate Y value instead of X
amazing video, you have my subscribe and like
Thanks for the sub!
Looks simple
What about the panning from right to left?
Works in the same way, just need to put in different values, that will make it go to the left
When I play in playback it works perfect but when I export it is wrong. glitches weirdly
I resolved the issue. I deleted the offset effect and just moved it using the x value. There is some bug or something with offset
Make sure that you're viewing full size in the program window. If not it messes the offset effect up.
@@barnydillarstone Thanks!
ok cool, and how to do it in the other way?
Change the values to move in a different direction
The blur still continues after the whip pan transition.. any clues what am I doing wrong?
You probably did not set blur amount to 0 at the end keyframe
@@SmertimbaGraphics That fixed it, cheers!
i don't have offset panel why?😢😢
Offset effect you mean? Or effect window where you search for effects
10/10
i dont have the offset pannel in the effects why ??
Not sure, it's a built-in effect
jesus mf christ, amazing. subbed.

👍👍👍
My slide got so messy I gave up
Why is that
w mean?
Why premiere has to make everything so complicated? Vegas was so much easier and simpler to use. No need to spend 3 minutes for one simple transition
You can make a preset and waste less time
