    Hey Mandy and Lee, thank you again for a wonderful video especially highlighting the back streets of Evora. Looking forward to your next video in the Algarve especially the restaurants, Authentic British Fish and Chips, Full British breakfast, Irish Pub and Bar and let's not forget the Pigs and Cows restaurant in Faro. LOL. More British influence than Portuguese there. Stay safe and keep smiling. God Save The King.

      I love reading your comments, Mike, as I never know what we're going to get 🤣😂 Évora is a fascinating city in which to just wander around and look at the beautiful buildings. We had a great time there, and I'm so pleased we visited. Faro next... but I think we somehow missed the places you mentioned! ~ Mandy 😀😁

    Hey Mandy and Lee, it's me again. Let's talk regions in Portugal, what's your favourite and least favourite region in Portugal and why? I trust you both are keeping well and staying safe. I have funeral fatigue.

      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому

      Hello Mike! We're glad to know we're a respite from funeral fatigue. We were watching the queue for the queue for a while, and had to tear ourselves away. Thank you for your great question... and it's one that I'm going to add to our list for our first ever Q&A. I can't guarantee your question will be answered this time round but we'll make as many Q&A videos as is necessary to cover everyone's questions. I'll let people know when their question comes up as have kept a note of on which video it was asked! We're thinking to have the first one ready to celebrate 9k subscribers... it was supposed to be 5k but you know, life passes by. I hope you have an enjoyable Sunday and we look forward to hearing from you again soon! ~ Mandy

    Also had an overpriced and crappy meal in Evora! In a restaurant recommended by our tour guide. But the cathedral there has a restaurant with good food and ok prices, for future. Also there’s a small family establishment near the aqueduct that is very very popular with locals. Hard to get in but the soup is worth the wait.

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому

      Thank you for the great suggestions, Ellen. We show the menu for the Cathedral restaurant in our 1st Évora video... €7.50 for a main. We walked past a very popular family restaurant near the New gate in our 2nd Évora video but it was too busy for me to get close to the menu to get a photo. It might be the same one as your one with the great soup! Thank you for taking the time to write, we really appreciate it. ~ Mandy 😀😁

    I've stayed in 100's of hostels, but it's been about 4 years since the last one - not sure I could sleep in a shared dorm room again - perhaps it's a sign of getting old!

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому +1

      I'm with you on that, Frugal Mr B. Our last dorm was in Warsaw in March 2020... and it was the breaking point for me with all the blokes snoring loudly, talking loudly and sleeping in their Y-fronts! I told Lee no more dorms for me... but I'm actually starting to miss them! We've had such great conversations in dorms, and I'm guessing that if we do anymore hostel Workaways, we're likely to be in a shared room! I suspect that we'll be filming from more dorms in the next year or so, especially if a double room is way more than twice the price! 😀😁 ~ Mandy

      @@FrugalTravellers I agree with you - I've met some great people that I would not have met without being in the hostel, and I enjoy the community especially in the kitchens, so if I do stay in a hostel again I think it would have to be a single room - but then the price might change my mind!

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому +2

      @@FrugalMrB Accommodation prices at the moment in Europe are still really high... maybe in an attempt to make up for 2 years of lost earnings. Our double room in Évora worked out cheaper than 2 dorm beds but that's not always the case. That's one of the reasons I'm so pleased we now have housesitting and Workaway as options whilst on the road, as they can be a great break from travelling and also to help stretch out the travel budget 😀😁 ~ Mandy

    Thank you for your Evora video. I also find this town not very cheap and like you said you have lots of place where you have to pay to enter and besides the value for a meal is higher than other portuguese places. And by the way the name Portas de Moura means that that are the dors to Moura, one portuguese town in Alentejo region south of Evora.
    I hope that you enjoyed your stay in this town and I look forward for more videos in Algarve region. Cheers. Luís

      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Luis. Thank you so much for your excellent comment and for the information about the correct meaning of Portas de Moura! I really should have checked that, and am so happy that we have such well informed viewers as yourself who watch our videos with a great attention to detail and can provide the correct information! 🙏😀
      I hope I didn't come across too negatively in this video, but we never want to just sugarcoat things, and we definitely found Évora to be more expensive than say Tomar or Caldas da Rainha. All of that aside, we did have a great time during our stay in Évora, and would love to go back sometime to explore the Alentejo region. I hope you enjoy the upcoming Faro videos. As always, thank you so much for taking the time to comment, Luis, we really appreciate it! ~ Mandy 😁😀

      @FrugalTravellers  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Jacob. Thank you for taking the time to comment... it's always great to hear from viewers as otherwise we're making videos in a little bubble, so we really appreciate the kind feedback! I think Évora had a tough act to follow after Tomar, as Tomar is so well set up up for visitors on a budget... and there weren't the crowds we experienced in Évora! I love the Roman Temple and it's still a highlight for me, and the 2 buffet restaurants were great... but yes, I wasn't a big fan of Évora or of the noisy people staying at our hostel. The buildings were so beautiful though and the locals were friendly, so we would definitely go back to Evora, but maybe during winter when it's not so hot 😉😂 Thank you again for taking the time to write! ~ Mandy 😁😀

    Hello Amigos Boa Tarde to you both! I so appreciate you showing us around. Like all of Portugal I’ll enjoy seeing Évora but it does help to have your reviews! Note to self: it’s going to be more costly! I know these videos are months behind where you are now… but I’m hoping you were able to visit West Alentejo, including Sagres. I can’t recall if you been through Sagres… I know you are traveling by bus mostly. You’d love that part of Portugal, I think! Hugs to you both!

      @@FrugalTravellers I loved wandering around the old streets, the ease of getting around on foot, and the safety as a woman. I stayed in the Moov hotel at the top of Rua Raimundo both times. Inexpensive, clean, and in the remains of an old bullring! I was there at the end of September the second time and in April/May the first, both times independently - not an organized tour. There were tourists of course, but they were very manageable! Loved the video, brought back a lot of great memories. Loved the Chapel of the Bones and, particularly, the nativities exhibit (not religious in the slightest, but they were stunning).
