2 more detailed infos: The infotainment screen sizes go 6,5" - 8" (Standard for Scout) and 9,2" (now also available, optional, and shown in this video) The difference DSG with dry/wet clutch depends not only on 6speed vs 7speed DSG but also there is both 7speed DSG dry and 7speed DSG wet. Skoda uses different DSG on different models. As for Kodiaq, they use three different 7speed DSG, each with wet clutch. Fabia, Rapid, Octavia, Karoq and Superb still get 7speed DSG with dry clutch, but for the weaker powered engines, the wet one for the higher powered ones. It seems the 6spd DSG will not be used anymore in the future model years.
Yes sir, I am one of the few Americans that uses the cup holders for miscellany...Eating in the car and then hands upon the steering wheel...Nein, Niemal !!! That is not hygienic. No smoking, no eating or drinking in my car. Thank you sir for your service, I really only look forward to the Mercedes and Porsche uploads. Danke sehr schon....Aus Nord Florida.
I personaly like the wood-style trim inside the car. Much much better than all the “black-piano“, “fake-carbon“, or “fake-aluminium“ trims. It gives a feeling of being home in a living room. I wish Skoda would bring this “wood-like“-trims to more or even all models. Maybe not the Citigo. But the rest could really have it. It could also be done in different kind of wood. I like the test. Good job :-)
riolux black would be ok, if the intitior colour would be grey or beige... But I agree that more colour options are better. Maybe cherry? Or, sorry I know the name only in german, eiche?
I also like wood inserts on cars, is just gives a "home" and welcoming feeling to any interior, specially if is made to look real like the ones on the Kodiak.
Always enjoy your thorough reviews. Too bad we don't have this car in US. Completely agree with your comments @14:40...no food or drink in the car.....it is for driving/transportation, not dining.
I also don't like to eat in the car, but I'm not so strict, when traveling we take some "safe" food to save some time, but it's very difficult to do so with kid, so we must make some exceptions, we simply couldn't manage to get anywhere if wouldn't allow to eat in the car :-)
You always make the best reviews Thomas, but this time i have to say... this is an offroad orientation car and you didnt test it off the road! The best car channel anyway And im still waiting for the Octavia Scout review 🤣 Nice job
Skoda gets better and better with the new SUV model-offensive and the high class interior and the up-to date infotainment!! The exterior looks harmonic and cool - in a positive way !! 😍 I hope they will launch a VRS version. I think they hit the mark with the new Kodiaq and Karoq ! I really apreciate the new and well known simply-clever solutions. 👍
Nice review like always, but the Alfa Romeo Stelvio it is not taken into any in depth review, only 2 videos in rush and so, I would like to see a Stelvio Quadrifoglio review, or a Giulia Veloce review, or even the new Dacia Duster review, if it is possible that would be cool. Anyway its my favorite channel for in depth car review, keep it like this, with more italian cars 👌👍😁🚗
My car rules are: - No Crumbly food (Things that can be eaten cleanly are fine) - No Smelly food/drinks (unless I'm having the same) - No Smoking But usually I only have water and mints in the car.
Hi Thomas! I'm with you on your snacking ban. If you're familiar with a favourite UK confectionery called 'Cadbury's Flake', then you'll understand why they are especially banned in my new Fiesta. Great review as ever. BTW, how's Schmuzy?
Indeed it is, Gordon; replacing my 4 year old Golf. 1,000 miles in and so far, so good. Charismatic 3-pot engine and 15" wheels to better deal with appalling UK road surfaces. Comfy, great to drive - just the ticket! - Cheers.
Hi sebxx - yes, but what about LED headlights (EU 2000lm law)? Side Assist, as recommended by Thomas? HUD? Oh, wait, there's no HUD - shame, that's useful for displaying ACC info... Heated steering wheel - a great extra! (I see heated seats are also an extra on a Kodiaq). Cheers.
As always, great and complete review! Just one question. That consumption figures are, I assume, for the 4x4 version. Any real world figures for the front wheel drive versions specially for the 150hp diesel?
Thanks for another informative and fun review - Autogefühl is like my weekly magazine that I look forward to each week. Now for the Kodiaq. Well I don't like the wood looking trim at all and it would put me off buying this car. Outside the car looks fine but I can not get to terms with the Skoda nose look with the shiny plastic. Inside again all looking fine except for the harder plastic on the lower trim - looks scratchy. I think the infotainment icons looks a bit 'cheesy' - like a cheap Chinese mobile phone. More work needed on a more refined suspension and better handling. Overall though the Kodiaq has to be on a the list for anyone looking for a decent sized SUV at the €40 000 price level. Eating in my car is reserved for small sweets and water.
Thanks! They surely come close, its more about the driving position. Check our Superb reviews here: ua-cam.com/users/results?search_query=skoda+superb+autogefuehl
4:50 you mentioned that you can have a 2L tsi with 180 and also a more powerful petrol engine. Does that mean that the Kodiaq will get the 220ps or 280ps tsi? Can’t seem to find any news about it or in any configuratior. Please let us know if you have any insider info ;)
hm I thought they would offer that, at least that was thought to be offered at some point. Maybe they saw no market for that. Indeed atm the 180 hp is max.
Thanks for the review, always helpfull. I am really struggling now if it is smarter to go for a used Q7 with Air Suspension or a relatively, slightly cheaper new Kodiak. I do 25 000 km a year, mix highway/urban. Any arguments are welcomed
Love that car (I own a Style TSI), just not in that trim :) The wood interior isn't my taste... But I wish mine had the alcantara door panels. Note: it's a 9.2" columbus screen you had in this model not 8") I'm curious: did you notice - the squeaking noise from the front interior door handles? - the steering noises when doing roundabouts? - the poor lumbar support on the electric seats?
Hi Thomas and Autogefühl team, just I want to say this ☆PERFECT JOB☆, when I check this car and Tiguan price on internet in my country almost same price, you know Tiguan lower segment but I can't see that much Kodiaq on the ways, I guess some customers wants to buy prestige, not vehicle ???
This one seems very suitable! The sisters would be VW Tiguan Allspace and Seat Tarraco ua-cam.com/video/mp4vfCU5j4k/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/0U-T9875QTk/v-deo.html Hyundai Santa Fe would also fit: ua-cam.com/video/R44ObShJu1I/v-deo.html And there s the new Mercedes GLB ua-cam.com/video/SbubILiPWPI/v-deo.html The Kodiaq however should offer the most space
Thanks for the reply Thomas. I have seen the your review of Allspace but would really like to know if you have to pick one which one will you pick and why...thanks again..!!
Thanks again Thomas.....the price is coming out to be more or less the same 39000 TDI 150 DSG in both models and style with extras in Skoda and Sport version in VW.
THAT WAS A GREAT VERY DETAILED REVIEW, AS ALWAYS. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU, THERE SHOULD NEVER BE EATING IN A CAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS NEW AND FRESH SMELLING. I AM INTERESTED TO BUY THIS VEHICLE FOR USE IN THE UK COUNTRYSIDE WHERE I PLAN TO LIVE A FEW MONTHS A YEAR. CAN I PUT BIGGER TIRES ON THE RIMS TO ACHIEVE A HIGHER GROUND CLEARANCE? IN ASIA I HAVE AN FJ CRUISER WHICH IS A FANTASTIC SUV FOR OFFROAD OR EVEN URBAN DRIVING THROUGH FLOODS DURING TYPHOONS. I HOPE YOU CAN SHARE SOME THOUGHTS ON THIS. THANK YOU VERY MUCH
Hallo Thomas .. the price difference between the Kodiaq and the Karoq is pretty close .. what do you recommend between them?!.. and if the 190 ps tsi is a better choice than the 150 ps tsi?.
Nice review and nice car it seems! But what about hybrid drive trains? Skoda have it on any car they produce? And yes some food is ok, traveling should be a pleasure, not a punish :-)
There are 2 different 7 Speed DSG Gearboxes. All Cars above 250Nm have the wet 7 Speed DSG, and even some 1.4TSI 150PS Engines also. The dry one is mostly used on small light cars. As i know Kodiaq only uses the wet DSG in all forms
You can try reading on the DQ200 (7Speed dry),DQ250 (6 Speed wet),DQ381 (replaces the DQ250) and DQ500 (highest Torque) both wet 7 Speed. And i don't blame you, no one can know everything, and things change faster then anyone could be informed :) Good job nevertheless ;)
According to interview with chief Kodiaq engineer (www.auto.cz/skoda-kodiaq-pry-neni-jen-zvyseny-superb-co-vsechno-ve-skodovce-upravili-100732) they utilised DQ500 (wet clutch) for all engines with 320Nm and more torque, because DQ381 was "too new". He is proud that Kodiaq is one of the cars with heavily overdimensioned DSG (DQ500 can be loaded with up to 600Nm).
Sorry one more update now to be exact: As for Kodiaq, they now use three different 7speed DSG, each with wet clutch. Fabia, Rapid, Octavia, Karoq and Superb still get 7speed DSG with dry clutch, but for the weaker powered engines, the wet one for the higher powered ones. It seems the 6spd DSG will not be used anymore in the future model years.
No eating, in any car is right, yes! I would add drinking also. Short stops on longer journies should become a cultural change I hope, like they do in France.
I own a similar vehicle, (1.4 TSI 150PS) with the 7 speed DSG. It's not jerky, but in low gear and low revs, outside of sport mode, there can be a second between trying to accelerate aggressively and the car responding.
Hi Laurențiu Luca - I have driven a New Mk2 Tiguan SEL 150 TDI 4-Motion DSG - I had the car for three days and tested it in various conditions. It had the 7-speed wet clutch DSG, and was as smooth as anything - it was really good. I've read that some people comment that the DSG jerks at slow speed, but this car never did with me. I tried to get it to jerk, and only by stamping on the accelerator when stationary did it complain slightly, but so would a manual too. One reviewer (on a different channel from here!) was rapidly pushing the gear lever from R to D and back, and complaining, but I didn't try doing that...!
My sister has 2016 Octavia 1.0TSI DSG and it's jerky as hell when taking off - the hack around it is that you tip the gas pedal just a millimeter and wait the car to get moving and then start adding pressure to the gas pedal. The jerky feeling is like the car sleeps and then you suddenly want to get moving, can't explain it quite good but try it out and you probably get used to it and find your way out.
imo the Jerkyness comes from these dumb 1.0 Litre Lawnmower Engines, i would go for a Diesel, and hell yeah i will keep my 2.7 TDI, nothing better as Torquw instead of RPMs....
Eating in the car, Thomas, I agree it's a no, no. Chocolate, NO WAY! And drinks, never! My brother spilt a while cup of Starbucks coffee in my Alfa's passenger footwell!! I always sit inside the drive thru, it's safer in every way!!
Like your wife, I don't worry too much about eating in a vehicle, hehe, what about in say a VW Transporter camping car, with a fridge and cupboards full of food! Or what about polo mints or boiled sweets! Great Review Thomas. Agree, interesting to at least discuss a Kodiaq and a Velar in your commentary... I like the Kodiaq, but I think I'd prefer the more compact SWB Tiguan with its better spec, and just about the same back seat space... Many thanks.
EU has so many regulations on so many things like products labeling, even shoes have materials labels for leather etc., why not to do so on car seats and other panels.
It's not, didnt say that :) Still I was wrong. I said 6,5 starts, then 8" optional, and then 3rd step is 9,2" the new one which was shown there. Wasnt originally available at launch.
Hi Thomas! You're doing a great job, I love your reviews. I want to ask you this: What do you think that is a good idea to choose a car between Seat Ateca, Skoda Kodiaq or Kia Sportage. I want a family car, with automatic transmission and a relative good fuel consumption. I make around 15.000 km / year. Petrl or dieasel. Thank you very much and I am a fan of you-re channel. Keep up the good work and sorry if my english is a little bad :D ... All the best!
Nothing but water in my Corvette, but some snacks are allowed in the other vehicles- especially on road trips. Can't do a 1,000+ mile trip without munchies
A very practical car, but I don't like exterior and interior, especially instrument panel are also not of my taste. Good details on steering and not a word about brakes, as I'm maybe even more sensitive for informative brakes than steering, It can be very uncomfortable as I experienced in new Clio: very good steering and bad brakes behaviour.
@14:34 Thomas "If you eat in my vehicle, I will have you culled" Majchrzak Thomas "Keep your food away from my motor, or I'll have you denounced as a traitor" Majchrzak Thomas "The one-mano gestapo" Majchrzak Thomas "Let's unite in hate, against the crumbs I won't tolerate" Majchrzak Thomas "A universal food and drink ban, are all part of my master plan" Majchrzak
So basically this is just one trim level with almost everything picked from other trim levels. Only difference is those silver nonsense. Kodiaq is pretty narrow compared to hight and those silver "Scout" spoilers make it look even more narrow compared to hight, especially in the rear. I wouldn't pick this trim level even for free. Normal Kodiaq is better looking car, simple and practical. Scout works much better with lower Octavia
hidden umbrella, ice scraper... every simply clever feature are simply cheap things, around 10-20 EUR total, funny that with that Skoda can sell that many cars :D
problem is that you mostly have different weather, different tyres, different roads, different temperatures, different speeds. So the results cannot be compared that well. We can give a hint with a smartphone though.
Zeproo. Thomas used to use a smartphone SCHALLPEGELMESSGERÄT on some of his reviews in the past, and also did so on one of the early Reviews of a Mk2 Tiguan, while driving in Berlin - but I guess you only get a very inaccurate comparison!

Tomas - agreed, no food in car ever! Great video review. Keep up the good work.
=)
David Richards no food in my skoda superb too, also my instagram is s.skoda

Superb review of a great value car! I would prefer the Karoq for easier city driving!
I like this vehicle and hope to buy one, thank you Thomas
Thomas, you are the best! Best regards for you and your teammates from Russia! ✌
+GURU IQ spassibo!
Great review, I have already ordered one for the wife. I must say you make the car look quite small being very tall.
+Falkon786 ohh nice 👍
Thank you for your clear, excellent review. Thank you.
Nice review like always, but the Alfa Romeo Stelvio it is not taken into any in depth review, only 2 videos in rush and so, I would like to see a Stelvio Quadrifoglio review, or a Giulia Veloce review, or even the new Dacia Duster review, if it is possible
that would be cool. Anyway its my favorite channel for in depth car review, keep it like this, with more italian cars 👌👍😁🚗
yeah I have already been asking for a Giulia Veloce, wanna take on this one
Funny You mentioned that. You are absolutely right Thomas. The car should smell like cashmere vanille or something like that, not like food :)
Totally agree!
Really smart looking seats in this Scout! I would like to have those in the Superb. Well done Skoda! 🙂
such a nice car! Thank you for the long review!
+Pio Leiner 👌
My car rules are:
- No Crumbly food (Things that can be eaten cleanly are fine)
- No Smelly food/drinks (unless I'm having the same)
- No Smoking
But usually I only have water and mints in the car.
Hey Tomas can you or have you guys plans to do a full detail review of the Kodiaq Sportline?? Would love to see one
Thomas, Great detailed review as always.
+D Strongbow ✌️
Hi Thomas! I'm with you on your snacking ban. If you're familiar with a favourite UK confectionery called 'Cadbury's Flake', then you'll understand why they are especially banned in my new Fiesta. Great review as ever. BTW, how's Schmuzy?
+Hamish Dunham Ha ha yes I can imagine that
+Hamish Dunham she is fine 😊
Good to hear. She is so cute! ❤️🐱
New Fiesta Hamish! Great! Very nice.
Indeed it is, Gordon; replacing my 4 year old Golf. 1,000 miles in and so far, so good. Charismatic 3-pot engine and 15" wheels to better deal with appalling UK road surfaces. Comfy, great to drive - just the ticket! - Cheers.
Agree 100% with you Thomas: no food or drinks on my cars either 👍
About the must haves, ACC and 360 camera would be my choice (along DSG obviously)
sebxx no food in my car as well, also I have a skoda superb, my Instagram is s.skoda
Cheers.
Absolutely no food/drink/smoking , no, never !!!
As always, great and complete review! Just one question. That consumption figures are, I assume, for the 4x4 version. Any real world figures for the front wheel drive versions specially for the 150hp diesel?
I don't eat in my own car Thomas , I just have the water or Juice . I don't like crumbs , haha
I really love this Brand and car .
=)
Shout out to all crazy Skoda scouts.
Thanks for another informative and fun review - Autogefühl is like my weekly magazine that I look forward to each week.

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for detailed and interesting review as always. How do the the Kodiaq and Superb compare in terms of ride, refinement and comfort?
Autogefühl that’s too bad. Was really hoping that they would bring that engine over. But I guess they need to differentiate from the Tiguan.
Very great video as always👍👌✌️ and nice car. Will u do a test of the new Nissan Leaf soon??
cheers! I hope so
Thanks for the review, always helpfull. I am really struggling now if it is smarter to go for a used Q7 with Air Suspension or a relatively, slightly cheaper new Kodiak. I do 25 000 km a year, mix highway/urban. Any arguments are welcomed
Cheers! Guess that comes down to price
Love that car (I own a Style TSI), just not in that trim :) The wood interior isn't my taste... But I wish mine had the alcantara door panels. Note: it's a 9.2" columbus screen you had in this model not 8")
I'm curious: did you notice
- the squeaking noise from the front interior door handles?
- the steering noises when doing roundabouts?
- the poor lumbar support on the electric seats?
+sebxxno I did not notice that, the noise from the steering wheel however I noticed in the very first review, but not this time
And yes indeed sorry, the 3rd step up the infotainment system ladder is the 9.2 columbus

And there s the new Mercedes GLB

The Kodiaq however should offer the most space
Thomas, will you test Leon Cupra R?
+Andrey B i don’t think so
thnks for answer.
Great review Thomas....can you please suggest which one would you choose between Kodiaq and Tiguan Allspace. I am looking for 5+2....thanks
thanks! Compare here:

Thanks for the reply Thomas. I have seen the your review of Allspace but would really like to know if you have to pick one which one will you pick and why...thanks again..!!
actually I would check if there is a big price difference with the concise offer at the dealers
Thanks again Thomas.....the price is coming out to be more or less the same 39000 TDI 150 DSG in both models and style with extras in Skoda and Sport version in VW.
I guess its just personal preference
Is there any possibility that we are going to see a video like this for the Kodiaq Sportline version? Thanks!
we can do that at some point
Just a great car!

Hallo Thomas .. the price difference between the Kodiaq and the Karoq is pretty close .. what do you recommend between them?!.. and if the 190 ps tsi is a better choice than the 150 ps tsi?.
if u need the space, take the Kodiaq, if you need the parking space, take the Karoq :)
190 or 150 hp ... wont matter that much
:D got it
Thanks for the great review how do you evaluate the dsg gear with the 1.4 engine? Is it slow?
Thanks
Thanks 🙏 u ll be fine as long as u dont race :)
Good reviewer.
thanks, feel free to share!
No eating in my car also, also no smoking inside.
I'm also against eating in cars but wait until you have kids Thomas, you'll be vacuuming the car every day 😂 keep up with the great reviews
haha =)
Nice review and nice car it seems! But what about hybrid drive trains? Skoda have it on any car they produce? And yes some food is ok, traveling should be a pleasure, not a punish :-)
The Superb will come with Plugin-Hybrid first

P.S.: Super Testbericht!
Danke! Oh, weiß ich gar net mehr ;)

How difficult is it to start a used car dealer in your country? Greetings from Canada:)
Very difficult. ;)
Always complain when my wife gives the children snacks in the sharan. Especially crisps or pastry’s grrrrrr 😂😂 I have to clean it lol
Thomas, I read so much comments about DSG as it is jerky at low speeds. You drived a lot of cars with this transmission. What is your opinion?
I own a similar vehicle, (1.4 TSI 150PS) with the 7 speed DSG. It's not jerky, but in low gear and low revs, outside of sport mode, there can be a second between trying to accelerate aggressively and the car responding.
+Laurențiu Luca No problems with it so far
Hey Thomas!
Have you ever thought about doing a car video review in German with English subtitles? :)
hey Mike, actually no
Incredibly ”good value for money” car.
Why? Maybe Toyota is better
Hi Autogefühl will you be upgrading to 4K anytime soon ??
+Jaswinder Aujla That is really hard to do because the bandwidth is not enough
Autogefühl thanks hopefully in the future!!
With those long videos, will be really hard. Keep them long and informative, full HD is good enough.
I agree with no eating and drinking in a car. I wouldn't go for more than 3 hours without a break so it isn't necessary.
Skoda Kodiaq or Land Rover Discovery Sport?
compare the Disco Sport here: ua-cam.com/video/3WM9lJrzvrw/v-deo.html
Eating in the car, Thomas, I agree it's a no, no. Chocolate, NO WAY! And drinks, never! My brother spilt a while cup of Starbucks coffee in my Alfa's passenger footwell!! I always sit inside the drive thru, it's safer in every way!!
argh!
Many thanks.
if u have a proper table you can clean again outside - ok =)
:-)
where is brian?
he ll soon be back with another review !
Skoda kodiaq or Subaru Outback 2018!? What to go for?
Skoda Kodiaq ;)
Compare it here: ua-cam.com/video/bMvQv2-oXVs/v-deo.html
EU has so many regulations on so many things like products labeling, even shoes have materials labels for leather etc., why not to do so on car seats and other panels.
+Vaidas Kazakevičius Good idea
Pretty sure that's not a 6.5" screen. Looks like 8 or 9".
Great review though for an impressive car... I really like it.
+Mr&Mrs Gadget Best is to watch the 3 reviews full length see what do you like best and also compare the very offer you’ll get
Nothing but water in my Corvette, but some snacks are allowed in the other vehicles- especially on road trips. Can't do a 1,000+ mile trip without munchies
You can eat anything in my car as long as you cook them outside. 😂
@14:34 Thomas "If you eat in my vehicle, I will have you culled" Majchrzak
Thomas "Keep your food away from my motor, or I'll have you denounced as a traitor" Majchrzak
Thomas "The one-mano gestapo" Majchrzak
Thomas "Let's unite in hate, against the crumbs I won't tolerate" Majchrzak
Thomas "A universal food and drink ban, are all part of my master plan" Majchrzak
It's much taller
Still waiting for the SEAT version of this vehicle, should look better and drive better of course.
keeping u updated
the tables are not for eating. it's for childern playing
Always a clever brand but it is
umpersonal to me
Haha I'm at Kodiak watching the kodiaq
amazing :)
hidden umbrella, ice scraper... every simply clever feature are simply cheap things, around 10-20 EUR total, funny that with that Skoda can sell that many cars :D
I hate eating in cars
No EATING IN THE CAR!!! #ME2
Hello Autogefuhl can you also make video with ein SCHALLPEGELMESSGERÄT ? www.velleman.eu/products/view/?id=421066 This would be a nice addition.
problem is that you mostly have different weather, different tyres, different roads, different temperatures, different speeds.
First! Notification squad
This is Skoda you can eat in it it isn’t rolls or Bentley
NO eating! Indeed a car is not a restaurant. Disgusting habit.
wish that BMW bought this brand... VW doesnt deserve Skoda.
40Tman Yeah they already bought Skodas designer!
VW turn skoda to what skoda is today, don t be gratuitously salty.
Schkoda ???! Gerenglich 🤣🤣
Sorry, can`t stand your accent. Even I am german.
Nice. They copied the audi q7 and then made everything uglier. Not a fan
tompparaideri and it cost four times less!!
