Chuck manipulated them to think they liked each other, so now that they knew, they got to see the truth. They knew it wasn't real, but Sam wanted to make her feel better and kissed her as in saying "no, don't worry, not everything was Chuck's plan, we have this" when they both knew they didn't. So it wasn't passionate because is not something they really wanted but something they wished to think they wanted.

I think the exact opposite. The show’s running theme has been the brothers’ toxic co-dependency and finally after all these years, they’re learning to let each other go. If the show is vying for a happy ending(god forbid, the characters deserve one)-the best one would be having Dean and Sam go their different paths. Still in touch of course, visiting each other periodically. For me, I’d like Sam to settle down with Eileen and Dean with Castiel, either retired from hunting or all of them hunting together.

Sam could give it up but I think he would pick it back up occasionally. All in all, that sounds like an ideal ending but it would be very out of character for both of them.
