It's quite common in history. Surrounding yourself with fortifications while also laying seige was common. Seiges could take months even years and if relief arrived to help the defenders you had to be ready to repel.

One can only imagine what would have happened had their morale not been restored with the spearhead of the lance. It really just goes to show how much power there is in maintaining morale, it’s an aspect of warfare almost entirely unmeasurable and yet plays such a crucial role in maintaining cohesion and obedience. Just hearing about these events from a UA-cam video makes one shiver, you really can’t imagine what it must have been like to be here at this point in history which ultimately would have unbelievably long-lasting effects on the outcome of western and Eastern Europe and the world as a whole. The strength to persevere through something like this is truly unimaginable. It’s beyond unimaginable, it’s something nearly of fiction. The fact that Hollywood hasn’t capitalized on this world event of the greatest magnitude is beyond me. Maybe there’s just a fear of controversy with it relating to Christian/Muslim tones. But still, a good writer with a good director would do it intelligently.

Sorry to burst your bubble but he that spearhead lance was quite obviously a fake one, notice how the Crusaders found nothing when they searched but as soon as the dude who claimed it was there searched for 2 seconds he found it instantly? the hint does not become bigger than that, he clearly just took a random spearhead lance from a dead body, hid it and then proceeded to act as if God revealed to him its location and it is quite obvious why would he start such a scheme, it is because he realized how dire the situation of the crusaders was and wanted to do something quickly to restore the morale of the Crusaders, it was a genius plan though so kudos

Well it's more than that the 2nd and 3rd were mildly successful
The 4th just took a different route and caused destruction Constantinople and the business Empire
The 4th 6th 7th and 8 were just pure disaster
      And sheer bad luck
And honestly a tired tell whether these wars were truly holy
But then again the Islamic threat was real and not the religion itself but the peoples themselves and the power holders like the arm and Empire were willing to push the boundaries and then not willing Tolerate the faith Christianity so it's not really A-war against evil people it's war of defending one's faith

Since all the above lived the monastic rule in war, this might have likely proved useful for virtues like discipline, courage, and conviction.

Mahomet is the french version of the name of the profet Muhammad, and "Mahomerie" was used to name both a mosque and islamic faith itself. Otherwise, great video, keep up this series!

The Third and Fourth Crusades stand in slight contrast, though. While ultimately strategically unsuccessful in retaking Jerusalem, they did largely re-open large swaths of The Holy Land to Latin pilgrims and held mostly strategic victories from a military perspective, particularly on the part of Richard I.

Book of Armaments, Chapter 2, Verses 9-21:
"And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, 'O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy.'
And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp, and anchovies, and orangutans, and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats, and large chulapas.
And the Lord spake, saying, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less.
Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out.
Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'

These guys must have been scary to see. Is there any info on how the Norman knights trained. I know there have been videos before how the Romans and legionaries trained for their discipline and combat readiness. I would love to see if there is any info on how the Normans created such deadly fighters to the man. That would be a fascinating video. along with the gear that they would be using that seems to give them a huge advantage in close combat against the Muslim soldiers they were fighting.
