A lot of classes in the US don't go over the basic facet that bike control takes a lot of leg usage. Schools are good at telling people "be more relaxed with your arms and hands" but don't follow by stating in order to be relaxed with your hands you need to shift that force to leg and knee control. I've had this technique diddling in the back of my head and this really confirms that my idea was right. I see why so many people who are shaky in corners, they are so nut tight on the tank.
Doesn't this de-stabilise the bike by not using the pegs to slightly lift your weight as Twist of the Wrist originally says to do. This is strangely going against what Keith Code wrote in the book and Andy was lifting too high off the seat.
Sliding across the seat destabilises the bike safest way is to slightly raise yourself using the pegs to switch sides and to keep your balls against the tank so there's less chance of wheelie when you get on the power plus then your arms aren't having to hold all your body weight, and then your central to the bike thus being more balanced. Just saying lol
@mukus198666 that would be Al Fagan he's a professional racer and has just done a season of british superbikes although i dont think hes racing that series this year due to lack of budget. Hes also a motoring journalist for fast bikes. In the full length vid of this it shows he's uncomfortable cos hes always been lifting himself from one side to the other and sites a lot nearer to the tank.
I don't get the lesson here. Did he only show the wrong method? Am I to assume that I should slide side to side, but never take my knee of the tank until the opposite one is in place? Thanks-
@bojanglesme Motogp is pretty much impossible. Most of those guys have been racing since they were little kids. Not riding, racing. Not sure about the other two.

so as your sliding acroos and both knees are not touching the tank when your in the centre. At this point did he say to stabilize yourself by using the handle bars? how do you do this? just by lightly holding the handlebars as usual?
You have to keep as light a touch on the handle bars as possible more like holding a bird firmly enough it doesn't fly off and light enough that you don't crush it, so basically if you feel you're unstable when you have space on either legs just grip the tank with both knees but keep distance like he said between your crutch and the tank.
thanks very much for the advice. I just got 2011 gsxr and been leaning into corners with the gap. Omg I feel so much more in control. I should have known this 1.5 years ago when I started riding lol. ALso does my right ass check sit on the outside of the left side of the seat when leaning left. How far across. is it where the seat marks are shaped on the 2011 gsxr
