- A group of refugees seeking asylum have set up camp in a Seattle park.
It's the second time in less than a month that refugees have taken over a city space and set up an unauthorized encampment. The first time was in early April when a couple of dozen refugees set up an encampment at the Garfield Community Center in Seattle on the same property shared with Garfield High School.
The stay in April was short-lived, as the group headed back to Kent when a donor provided funding to extend their stay at a hotel.
On Monday, more than 50 tents and about 200 people, including children, took over Powell Barnett Park in Seattle's Central District neighborhood.

Not when you factor in housing,food,clothing,education,healthcare,jail,and prison time they’re inevitably going to cost.They’re a huge burden and a drain on our society. So deportation is considerably less expensive.

Meanwhile I have to pay for state park camping reservation. It is just ridiculous these days.
In NYS, the state parks also limit your reservation and stay to 2 weeks.
Firstly, start with charging them rent. Then charge them for garbage removal, water etc. Then find out who donated the tents and tell them they should be hosting these "asylum seekers" AKA *unauthorized migrants* .
I'm what most Seattleites would call a liberal and I think this is pathetic. I've also sponsored actual asylum seekers, and this is not how it is done.

I live in Orlando, and DeSantis puts all the migrants that haven't filed all the asylum process forms by the time that they arrive in the state, a bus or plane ride to a Democratic state. Many of the illegal immigrants went to North and South Carolina to work and drive illegally.
I was waiting for this. Bus the ones who have no where to go, to Olympia. I'm sure the seat of our fine state gvmt will welcome them with open arms and loose pockets.

I'm confused, I thought America was a horrible place where everyone was struggling to make ends meet. So why are millions of people flooding into this country, and why aren't millions of American flooding into Mexico?

They did the same thing a few years ago (2018 summer) but it was folks from our own country. at a park near the Tacoma housing Authority a few years ago

These people know absolutely nothing about life here. What jobs are the going to get? What housing are they going to get? Do they have education? Do they know how to drive a car or use public transportation? I hope they can figure it out soon because they have no right to expect the government and tax payers to pay for everything.

This is why I'm not interested in buying any house in America that is right next to any public park, public lake, public beach, public school, city hall, hiking trails, library or public anything. I think any public space near a house in America can potentially devalue the house. Also, I don't want to live in a neighborhood that has sidewalks. Sidewalks in America can potentially be turned into encampments. I learned this just by observation. I prefer gated communities. So do many citizens in South Africa.
And yet Amazon pocketed $10 BILLION in the last three months !!! What a world !
