Why not treat divided villages as enclaves on either sides and merge them with either countries through a treaty as was done on a big scale between India and Bangla Desh.

I support our New Delhi's decision to implement NRC and border fencing of the Indo-Myanmar border. Myanmar is currently the largest producer of opium in the world and the interests of a few communities in Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh who are opposing the fencing of Indo-Myanmar border should be questioned. Their argument that "WE ..... ARE UNIQUE PEOPLE AND THE FENCING OF THE INTERNATIONAL BORDERS WILL DIVIDE US" should be ignored in the larger interest of MANIPUR, ASSAM, TRIPURA and the rest of our BHARAT.

We can always have open gateways for easy access and fence it .
Just like india-pak border , but better, with border villages and towns having access gates and rest areas being fenced off completely.
B.S.F will guard the fence , while ASSAM RIFLES will keep a check on these gates .
And by gateways i mean , 200-250 metre wide gaps in border fences.
40-50 sunch gateways shall be enough for an approx 1600km long border.
Too less will hamper the movement, too many will become a mess to control.
Please do enlighten me more about the issues with fencing and impact on community.

I think you shouldn't stick your nose in our business, how would you feel if we come to mainland India and draw up a border from Rajasthan to Odissa and gave the southern part to Pakistan and Northern Part to China? And that too..we will put up a fence in the middle, that's what we r facing..our lands were carved up and divided by people who had no idea of the people and the land..people who didn't even live in Asia(The British). The political boundary is more than enough don't fence it..the natives of the land..the owners don't like it.

Well I agree it all caused by then British empire but sadly North Eastern border has been ignored by all the govt since independence. A proper demarcation was needed but now the situation is way too complex to immediately fence our borders. Militarily wise north east has been well defended by eastern command.

Fencing the border doesn't mean cutting off trade between the east it's just because since from the push of junta's regime in myanmar the illegal immigrants and militants can cross the border easily and people can still cross the border but with proper id and paper fencing is just for control over the push from war happening in myanmar which affects the life of northeast along the border

The Chins have taken over Rihkhawdar, Khomoi, Tamu, Khampat, Taingen, Paletwa from Myanmar Junta which are vital to the Sittwe port access. That's the only way to save Indian investment
