Audrey! Such a great adventure! College is its own adventure - enjoy every moment! Don’t worry, us old farts will be adventuring for many more years to come and they’ll be plenty of opportunities for exploring together!

A coil spring conversation for your GX is more reliable, tough and cheaper like what I did on mine

Yep, I agree. Was planning on converting this year. Now that I’ve dropped $600 for new air springs, I’m not sure what to do in the immediate future.

@@SoccerMomOffroad Nice!! what springs did you get? Mine has the whole kit with heavy springs in the rear. OME. It’s ok, I have a lot of weight and still no sag.

I went with Icon conversion kit and Icon 2” lifted coils. Plus, I’m installing Firestone coil-rite airbags inside the coils. 80% of the time I’m on pavement with no load so I didn’t want the heavy springs and stiff ride. For the other 20% of the time when I’ve got all my gear, I can air up the airbags to support the coils and prevent sag.

I wonder if that is how my husbands Porsche Cayenne's air suspension works...he has the PDCC that was made 2008-2010.

Hi Julia, thanks for the comment/question. After a little research, though similar, they function different. Where the GX has one long air shaft that folds in on itself, the Cayenne uses more of an accordion styler air spring. In the end, they both do the same thing.

how/why did your air bag trick fail? i was thinking of doing that til im able to the coil conversion...

    • @SoccerMomOffroad
      @SoccerMomOffroad  9 місяців тому

Hey Dan, the "air bag trick" relies on overinflation of the airbag to achieve lift. Normal forest service roads and dirt roads are generally fine. However, if your suspension gets flexed out, there is a chance that the air bag can pull off the lower perch, overextend below the axle and then become damaged. This is what happened to me.

In fallon in 1999 a few kids went splunking in fallon and they where smoking a joint when two of the boys had been exploring a little ahead them and they started to scream bloody murder and as the other boys shined there light they seen a giant taking a bite out of one of their friends they went to the police and they went out there not really believing the whole thing but it would turn out they went into the cave and seen this giant sitting and eating one of the boys he was already done with the other. So they started yelling at them to get down dont move and he stood up to be about 10 foot tall and wasn't complying so they retreated and called in and told their sargeant what they seen and about the boys and said what are we gonna do? So the sarge said I've got some navy special forces coming you will do whatever they say per me so he said ok they waited for them to show up only four men showed up the officers told them whats going on and they went in and then started shooting afterawhile they brought out the boys and then this massive man giant and then blew the cave shut.

Wow! That’s quite a story! Proof that the descendants of the Nephilim are still lurking among us in caves and subterranean chambers😉 Thanks for sharing!

I have watched, and enjoyed, your videos.
However, some of the "music" is overly dramatic, too loud, and annoying.
How about some music with a real western flavor (definitely not Nashville)
    Thanks.. happy rolling.
    Liked and Subscribed.
PS I lived in Winnemucca in the 50s. Family owned property in Nevada for over 50 years.
My father owned the Knights of Pythias Hall in Virginia city back in the 80s.
The lower floor was his antique store, the second floor was the original meeting hall,
and the third floor was his residence, all made by him with local materials and artifacts.
I have a 2000 4Runner with 5 speed.. one of the last. We have been best buds for over 2 decades.

Hey Jeff, thanks for stopping by, for the comment with feedback and for the sub! I tell you, music is one of the hardest parts of creating content, for many reasons, however, I will take your feedback under serious consideration.
Your family's history in Nevada and Virginia City is so cool - such a great place!!! Did you grow up in Virginia City?
3rd Gen 4Runner is a GREAT rig. If you watch other episodes, you'll see my friend Rick's black 3rd Gen from time to time, though his is an auto.
Jeff, once again, really appreciate your support. Means a lot! Adventure on!
