Richard Matheson's Novel "I am Legend" has been made into a movie 3 times, not including this one. First as The Last Man on Earth in 1964 starring Vincent Price, and it's the closest to the book.
Antioch, California? I live in Antioch! ... and there is NO WAY IN HELL that ANTIOCH would be the "city of survivors" in a zombie apocalypse. Suspension of disbelief destroyed instantly.
Completely agree with your conclusion. The first half was pretty awesome as a tense thriller that really got inside the protagonist's mind. Then, it just turned into a mediocre action film. Shame. Fun review! (:
Mark didn't just star in Iron Chef. He was also in the Hawaii Five-0 reboot series for like sixteen episodes. He even had a role in Kamen Rider Dragon Knight.
The only Asylum movie I own, because I'm a big collector of I Am Legend novels and it's movies. In the special features, the writer of I Am Omega admits that he watched Omega Man to prepare for this movie- meaning that in preparing his script, this was the first time he saw The Omega Man, and that he never read the book. That's Asylum for you! PS- Yes there is another I Am Legend "adaptation": Around this same time as Smith's and Asylum's films, a porno called I Am Cock was also released. I kid you not. Loving your videos. Came here for Planet of the Apes series reviews, stayed for the Alien series reviews and then some.
+michaelkeha I prefer Omega Man, it's bold and fun, even if it's a far cry from the novel. The Will Smith movie is actually a remake of The Omega Man and barely resembles the novel. As further proof it's an Omega Man remake, the first screenwriters credited in the Will Smith film are actually The Omega Man's screenwriters. I do have scraps of appreciation for I Am Legend 2007- and Will Smith was surprisingly decent. But along with all it's problems, the film completely throws out many of the themes of the novel. The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price was closer to the novel, and while it doesn't do the novel justice any either, it's also schlocky fun. Last Man even predates Night of the Living Dead, which George Romero admits was an indirect adaptation of I Am Legend. IAL author Richard Matheson considered Night of the Living Dead the best take on his novel.
Dellaluna13 To be honest I enjoyed Omega man and Last man the most my biggest issue with I am Legend was it just tossed out the whole point of the novel and older movies in that the creatures weren't mindless monsters and it was a failure to comunicate that caused problems well except for the night of the living dead though I do love how claimed fans of Romero's zombie movies forget his zombies were far smarter than the typical zombie which is made more amusing given the critisim made about the remakes where complain the zombies used weapons and tools
People being squemish about rape in a post apocalypse film really don't get how reality works... Child and Adult rape is super common RIGHT NOW... With society still functioning and police and prisons. What do you think is going to happen when those social restraints are gone? Well... Just look at huge portions of Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and East Asia where just leaving the house alone can be justification enough to be raped. Not talking about rape doesn't make it go away, it makes it easier to get away with in the real world because no one wants to have to confront how the topic makes them feel so it's buried and fast forwarded through and everyone puts on a happy face and plays pretend. That's enabling... Enabling makes you as responsible as the one committing the act... And as for rape jokes, humor is the best form of coping mechanism. Comedy is tragedy plus time. Not making jokes won't piss anyone off but it will enforce the "off limits" nature of the subject that is explicitly harmful.
What are you talking about? Obviously a rape scene would make for uncomfortable viewing, because the viewer is aware of the real world implications not because they're ignorant of them. We know It's a simulation, it doesn't make the subject matter any less unpleasant. Rape isn't really something people talk about because again it's an unpleasant subject, awareness of the concept is usually enough. I know this comment is 2 year old but what a load of horse shit
@Airock the Great I never said anything about emotional crybabies. it is completely natural to feel at least some emotion to something horrible happening. it doesn't mean i'm an SJW.
@Airock the Great Cool. Doesn't make joking about things like rape LESS shitty. Especially considering the people who ACTUALLY have to cope with rape usually aren't the same people cracking jokes about it. You gotta realize that some shit is in poor taste.
Or the USA and Europe where child sexual slavery is common. If it's not essential to the story, then there is no need to spotlight rape for meaningless shock value. If it's not advancing the plot then it is just in poor taste and does need to be in the movie.
this movie is ka plow type of awesome! the problem that most peeps might have with it is this. you have to be in a room that as hot as hell and you should have a few or more shots of your favorite adult bev, this makes the beer drinking scene resonate. then you might be able to identify with the dude who enjoys the post apocalypse world, I mean who wants to go to work when you could just run around in a free ruined environment. plus that girl is smokin. love it, but I think I lost this movie, depression. thanks for the review compadre!
18 seconds in...four years later... The more things Change, the More they Stay the Same... (And by change, I of course mean a gradual decline in education, social etiquette, and entertainment; in short...everything got worse.)
@shenmueIII suporta o PNR e Chega e Mario Machado thanks get back to me when California doesn't represent the 8th biggest economy in the world while Red States are like third world countries that depend on taxes from blue states just to stay alive.
@shenmueIII suporta o PNR e Chega e Mario Machado Italy and France are not socialist or communist. Having government programs that provide more healthcare to the poor is not socialism. Frankly, we could really use those programs in the US. People are getting really riled up over racial inequality and #blacklivesmatter is growing so having our taxes go into universal healthcare, education, and welfare would better help this falling apart country.
The movie never clarifies the opening scene was meant to be a flashback , it could just as easily be him having a nightmare about how he imagines the death of his family may have played out in his absence.
I feel bad for Dacascos. He can act real good with the right script and direction. And he should be a bigger action star like he was in the late 90’s dude is great
Here are all the movies The I am Legend novel inspired 1. The last man on Earth 2. I am Legend ( Will Smith ) 3. ( Super Fighting robot) O( Mega Man ) 4. I am O(megaman)
I don't hear the word "super" in the theme song of Mega Man only "the" it's "the fighting robot" though the song is oddly called "Super Fighting Robot" yet they never say "super" in the theme o.O
I remember seeing this in one of those marathon release packages from Walmart. I watched it twice, and found certain parts laughable. I give it a two on my scale, which is better than Killjoy 1&2, and better than Gingerdead Man. I mostly peruse through Full Moon pictures and Troma films for reference. All other Asylum films I have really disliked. This one made me laugh a few times, though. If you're under the influence, it's a semi-decent nightcap.
I think it's a reference to his earlier comment about some people preferring the thought of a zombie apocalypse to a 'socialist' government. Scandinavia is renowned for it's social welfare.
Really? The survivors made a town called Antioch? What's with post-apocalyptic books/movies/games giving things names that pertain to the Christian Bible?
It has to do with Christianity being the primary religion worldwide and apocalypse being associated with the biblical end times destroying modern social order in favor of the Primal social order.
I could just about accept this for what it was, until Our Hero caught multiple gunshots and was left for (what really should've been) dead. ONE bullet wound is gonna slow you down a LOT, even if you're physically fit. Four or so? Blood loss will knock you out if the pain doesn't. You won't be hotwiring a car or chasing bad guys with that much lead poisoning. =9[.]9=
I’m sorry to say that actually made kickass content that is on Netflix Z-Nation I swear I’m not making this up it is a quality show made by the asylum Before you attack me with hate comments because I just complimented the asylum please remember that *I JUST COMPLIMENTED THE ASYLUM!* DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW VIOLATING THAT IS!?! I don’t need hate replies on top of that but I’m pretty sure I’m going to get them

I have the last man on earth and I didn't know that!
He is Alpha....He is Omega..... He is IRON CHEF!
2012: The 2012 election is "end of the world"
2020: With the Corona pandemic *"hold my beer"*
No, 2016 was hold my beer.
2020 is hold my 50yr od bottle of Scotch.
Antioch, California? I live in Antioch!
... and there is NO WAY IN HELL that ANTIOCH would be the "city of survivors" in a zombie apocalypse. Suspension of disbelief destroyed instantly.
You never know man lock your doors
I really wish Mark got a more respectable movie career. He shouldn't have to resort to asylum films to make a buck.
Life giving you lemons I guess..
He's in the new John wick 3 movie as the main villain. Guess he's getting a come up.
Y'all do know Mark was also in Cradle 2 the Grave with jet Lee and DMX eh.
Hope he can grow a better movie career.
@@alejandrocisneros7442 He was also in the Macgyver reboot, and he did a very good job with the role.
Completely agree with your conclusion. The first half was pretty awesome as a tense thriller that really got inside the protagonist's mind. Then, it just turned into a mediocre action film. Shame. Fun review! (:
two previous films, actually. "the last man on earth" with Vincent Price was the first.
@Isaac Baranoff I agree that it was the best.
Mark didn't just star in Iron Chef. He was also in the Hawaii Five-0 reboot series for like sixteen episodes. He even had a role in Kamen Rider Dragon Knight.
"And Mark says fuck you to the plot!" BEST LINE EVER!
"Beeeeeer!!!!!"
Kind of amazing Mark went from low budget like this to The Crow Stairway to Heaven to big budget John Wick.
The only Asylum movie I own, because I'm a big collector of I Am Legend novels and it's movies. Sad thing is, I am Omega actually sounds like a good movie name.
From this review I can tell that this might be the only asylum movie I'd be willing to watch
also Mark Dacascos was really good in the "brotherhood of the wolf"
Huh... I forgot he was in that.

Expecting people to be completely emotionless to horrible atrocities like rape makes you look like you have serious problems.
@Airock the Great I never said anything about emotional crybabies. it is completely natural to feel at least some emotion to something horrible happening. it doesn't mean i'm an SJW.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!
I think that describes all Asylum movies XD
If he's schizophrenic he probably thought the video feed was a hallucination
4:18 how did the asylum come up with something so compelling?
The demolition man review was great
Brotherhood of the Wolf and Drive with Mark Dacascos! You gotta check them out!
Don't forget "Only The Strong"!
17:00 I’m surprised you didn’t make obvious joke of Vincent’s Van Go
Van Gogh
Purely out of respect for the classics
The original movie with Charlton Heston "Omega Man" and "I am Legend" is basically a remake of.
drasco played the lead role in the tv series the crow
This movie surprised me. The Asylum should just make movies about lone people going insane.
Man, you're a legend for toughing out all this asylum crap.
this movie is ka plow type of awesome! the problem that most peeps might have with it is this. you have to be in a room that as hot as hell and you should have a few or more shots of your favorite adult bev, this makes the beer drinking scene resonate. then you might be able to identify with the dude who enjoys the post apocalypse world, I mean who wants to go to work when you could just run around in a free ruined environment. plus that girl is smokin. love it, but I think I lost this movie, depression. thanks for the review compadre!

I also thought about reviewing this movie, but I was wondering if asylum ever takes down videos like the bigger companies
I liked him better when he was in The Crow tv series.
Suprisingly not that bad for this company. It looks like if they wanted, they can even make a below decent film.
No Double Dragon references, I'm disappointed.
Was that desert location the same place Shatner fought the Gorn?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 2012 election is the end of the world, lol
Such innocent times
@shenmueIII suporta o PNR e Chega e Mario Machado thanks get back to me when California doesn't represent the 8th biggest economy in the world while Red States are like third world countries that depend on taxes from blue states just to stay alive.
Meanwhile the world is in a global pandemic 3 months into 2020

mark decescos actually I saw him play in "cradle 2 the grave" feat. jet lei
16:25 Year: 2021
Yep, mostly just disappointed in the trigger discipline displayed in the movie.
He was in Only The Strong too! A classic
Most similarities in I Am Legend and I Am Omega are due to common similarities with the Vincent Price version of the story.
BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD
I feel bad for Dacascos. He can act real good with the right script and direction. And he should be a bigger action star like he was in the late 90’s dude is great
Drive is worth a watch
im suprised you didnt touch on that the coffee was a foldgers thing with the L marked out in sharpee
5:13 So basically FNaF?
Here are all the movies The I am Legend novel inspired
1. The last man on Earth
2. I am Legend ( Will Smith )
3. ( Super Fighting robot) O( Mega Man )
4. I am O(megaman)
I don't hear the word "super" in the theme song of Mega Man only "the" it's "the fighting robot" though the song is oddly called "Super Fighting Robot" yet they never say "super" in the theme o.O
I am Legend is about Vampires!!!! Read the book people! Am i the only person who has?!??
Kristian Fischer I read it
You could've just as easily read the wikipedia article gaylord.
Kristian Fischer oooh
That makes more sense
I remember seeing this in one of those marathon release packages from Walmart. I watched it twice, and found certain parts laughable. There is still running water, electricity and gas in an apocaliptic future.
The zombies here still look better than the CGI abominations in I am Legend.
I loved the main actor from this in the crow stairway to heaven
"Getcha some boy yeah"!
Hardcore Henry is a great on for you to review it came out around pre covid I think 🤔 but it is well worth watching and reviewing it 👍
What the fuck is the Advent Master doing fighting zombies with a gun? Come on Eubulon, bust out the interdimensional power armor!!
guess decade fucked up that world
rox driscoll ONORE DIKEIDOOOOOO!
Awesome! I knew I was not the only one who recognized him from "Kamen Rider Dragon Knight."
According to Haitian folklore, zombies are allergic to salt. But that's voodoo zombies, why these mutant beings can't stand it is anyone's guess.
he was in John Wick 3! Asylum to John wick
Strange, both Marc Dacascas and Jennifer Lee Wiggins are of Asian descent and their “son” is clearly a white kid.
Wait a minute... the Asylum rip off is actually... better than the film it ripped off!?
decker do the summer of resident evil :D
Ya being a bit nitpicking, I have this movie. It's B rated and the guy is from iron chef...it's not King Lear
Please review Crying Freeman.
So am I, you were saying?
MARK DACASCOS
is
ERIC DRAVEN
from
THE CROW THE SERIES
dude, this is from 2013 holy shit
How horrible would it be if Asylum did Harry Potter?
Or something.
Alucard, More Awesome Than Chuck Norris they made the script, but not the film. It's called my Immortal
asylum had the advent master....and this movie was a year before dragon knight....yeah he was better in dragon knight
Wait... Okay, out of curiosity, dude... how exactly is Norway of all places worse than a zombie apocalypse?
I think it's a reference to his earlier comment about some people preferring the thought of a zombie apocalypse to a 'socialist' government. Scandinavia is renowned for it's social welfare.
Writ In Water
I guess that makes sense. Our healthcare systems are at least better than the US's...
Whenever you review John Wick 3, please introduce him with the beer clip again
`get your facts correct, there was a 1950's version staring VINCENT prince which was faithful to the novel.
*1960s and Price
Skype is still working without upgrades
If it was anyone else I would have hated this movie but Mark Dacascos gave a great performance.
" BEEEEEEEEEEEERRRR"
Hey decker review mega shark vs mecha shark it actual decent.
wasnt I am leg-end about a foot?
Really? The survivors made a town called Antioch? What's with post-apocalyptic books/movies/games giving things names that pertain to the Christian Bible?

DeckerShado is the best reviewer
Don’t forget the crow tv series
Kinda what happens with Public Domain projects, everyone makes a piss-poor attempt to make a movie adaptation, and buttf-cks the plot into the ground
All those omega man quotes and instead of phone radio
I dig the jokes but....VINCENT PRICE I AM LEGEND, CROW: STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN.
People from L.A. think that it is the world.
Iron Chef is fantastic. Though the Japanese version is leaps and bounds better than the American one.
I could just about accept this for what it was, until Our Hero caught multiple gunshots and was left for (what really should've been) dead. You won't be hotwiring a car or chasing bad guys with that much lead poisoning. =9[.]9=
The Asylum made a semi decent movie? What is this world coming to? xD
I’m sorry to say that actually made kickass content that is on Netflix
Z-Nation
I swear I’m not making this up it is a quality show made by the asylum
Before you attack me with hate comments because I just complimented the asylum please remember that *I JUST COMPLIMENTED THE ASYLUM!* DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW VIOLATING THAT IS!?! I don’t need hate replies on top of that but I’m pretty sure I’m going to get them
I dig it man
Yeah, if Bruce Campbell is the King of B-Movies, Mark is the Duke
FYI a Zombie sitcom is called a ZomCom
I liked the way we arent sure if its real or unreal, but then it goes downhill
I'd take a zombie apocalypse over a socialist nightmare anyday. But I'd take one over modern life in general
That crack about the bad guy being obvious because his name's Vincent. Why did I find that annoying? Lol
This movie is horrible. How did you sit through the whole thing? Great review as always.
Omega man was a far better movie than I am legend which just missed the point entirely thanks to that stupid ending.
THERE IS NO FOOOD!
This woman is the textbook definition of Mary Sue
To me Mark Decascos is the bad guy from Cradle 2 the Grave
Theres two asylum movies i like both has volcanos
Not bad for a low budget movie
Yup, I am a metalhead who punches his wife, but only when she gets out of line. Otherwise we play our guitars in harmony during practice.
Three out of Five...So...Better than Halloween
at least this is simple and more realistic I also thing its the best asylum film out there... that dosent mean much
This movie became popular after covid 19 happened
ya are a old channel
