"Schizophrenia: Psychosocial and Pharmacological Treatment" - Juan Bustillo, MD

  • Dr. Bustillo joined the Department of Psychiatry at UNM in 1996, after completing a 3-year Schizophrenia Research Fellowship at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center. His contribution to the field of schizophrenia psychopathology was acknowledged by his appointment to the American Psychiatric Association’s DSM-5 Work-group on Psychotic Disorders in 2007. He is a member of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and was Chair of the NIH Interventions Committee for Adult Disorders study section.
    LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
    1. To pair psychosocial treatments with specific intended outcomes in schizophrenia.
    2. To describe the indications and early implementation of treatment with clozapine.
    3. To recognize the appropriate combination of psychosocial and biological therapies indicated during the different stages in the course of schizophrenia.
