I hope you start uploading again soon. Really miss this channel Would you ever consider doing more tactics based videos ? One of my coaches favourite tactics is to leave the tip of his epee on the floor to lure you in and then explode out and score the touch. Already have a rough idea how to counter but would be cool if you did videos looking at specific moves like that
i was looking for a video showing the half recovery from lunge as an exercise for a redditer fencer... lol... 3 min mark pretty much exactly what I wanted (although maybe a bit more intense... I am jealous!!)
I'm 82 and fencing competitively. (Seriously--there are four other women in 80's vet epee and foil who do this nationally) Is the deep knee bend going to be okay for me?
Coach Tyler, Question: say by Sabre fencing you could land on your toes, so that could then execute a surprise lunge; could you explain the difference in this methode; regarding holding your balance?
fun fact, this'll make your martial lunge worse. in real sabre fencing, your rear foot should always be planted firmly on the ground while lunging, and the rest of your body should stay upright. the lunge should be conservative, meaning quickly recoverable. so from a martial perspective, any lunge further than the first kick in the first practice drill, is suicidal.
Fun fact, this channel is dedicated to Olympic sport Fencing not historical fencing. You sound very knowledgeable about historical Fencing, maybe you should start a UA-cam channel on historical/“real” Fencing.
@@FencersEdge if that wasn't the most savage yet subtle "Who asked you? STFU!" I've ever read. I appreciate you for that, and at this very moment I'm going to walk myself through this "not real" fencing drill. Keep Shining!
Yes and no. While it's true that you wouldn't want to jump forward most of the time context is always important. For example if you are pressuring someone and they are retreating backwards a fast jump lunge forward van be very beneficial. Furthermore you could use these exercises to improve your lunges without doing the Olympic fencing lunge yourself.
First off, who asked? Second, none of those are inherently true. Those aspects are advocated by 19th century British systems, but are not universal for lunges by any means. Rapier systems of the 16th century, like Meyer and Capo Ferro feature a very prominent lean with a similar length. Later period Italian-Austro-Hungarian sources follow a similar pattern.
@@FencersEdge I agree with you but I must say, as historical fencer that all of your videos really help me in my fights! Thank you, you're doing great job and please release some more videos with tips and exercises to improve fencing because all of your videos is significant for me.
Coach where are you? I've watched your videos since I've started fencing but now it has been 2 years and you are not here yet
