There aren’t a ton of differences. However the larger screen + faster page flips will definitely make it a noticeable upgrade! I am personally very excited for it
No impressive features at all... Amazon is such a big letdown, tbh... They released the Kindle Basic in matcha color-okay, cool. Then, the Kindle Paperwhite 12th generation with almost the same features as the Kindle Paperwhite 11, and its Signature version with more memory. A colored Kindle similar to the Kobo Clara, but Clara is $180 and the Kindle is $280 😂 With tacky green and raspberry colors, no annotation on the page allowed, no stylus compatibility, and no buttons? Buttons could have sold me since I'm annoyed when my Kindle skips pages with touch and I read spoilers 😤... And don't forget the same boring, overpriced Scribe. Nah, man. I'm getting the Kobo Libra Color.
I think what you said in your previous video about wanting smaller bezels, faster page turns, etc - everything came true!! Please also wish for more color options (LIKE WHITE)!!! so we can get those wishes come true too!! And the agave green was so popular because it was the closest to "white" - I'm so shocked it was taken away
I bought an Amazon fire tablet and Kindle books, store, everything is in VIVID COLOR. Granted it’s bigger than a Kindle, I have one of those, but it’s thin and light, and I love it.
Why is the color version so very expensive in comparison to the "normal" Paperwhite? Kobo did a 30 Euro increase in their color version, the same with Pocketbook Inkpad and Era, and Boox with Page and Go Color 7 ... there are enough other options. No color Kindle for me
It all comes down to the technology being used. It's most certainly expensive but if the color saturation and accuracy is solid with this colorsoft technology and is better than other color e-ink displays, then it might be worth it
I believe the color is more like the signature edition rather than the regular paper white. So all those upgraded features of the signature edition which is around $200 and added color for a new total of $279. Still a lot. Would make more sense at $230 but not $279. I’ll stick with the paper white.
There are two things that make me think that the colors are going to be more muted than they are in the ads: 1) "ColorSOFT". It seems like they're telegraphing something there. 2) As far as I can tell, it's using a Kaleido 3 display. Other e-readers use the same display, and it produces a lot of pastels. So unless they're doing something incredibly different, I don't hold out a lot of hope.
@@myaccount0000 Yeah, but the footage I've seen seems to have the same washed-out colors, unless they're photos from Amazon (which makes me suspicious).
7:25 The New Scribe's display is not symmetrical. It's exactly the same thing as before with a black strip on the side. Honestly, the scribe was the prime candidate for that colour display. Manga is already fantastic on it's large screen, but comic books converted to B&W look like a gray mess. Reading Manga or Comics on the smaller 7" display is not great.
Well, I guess if you pretend the piece of the Scribe off to the side that isn't white... doesnt exit, then sure it's got uniform borders. The original Scribe is fine imo, the screen is a rectangle, couldn't be any more uniform unless it were a square. Imo the original design is better. I like the uniformity of the color of the border around the screen.
why would you read on a screen made of many little lamps glowing in your face and refresh/blink 60+ times a second AND shimmer when e-ink exists. I can read on my freezer too
E-ink displayers are far superior to LCD and OLED displays when reading text or books. First, E-ink displays don't use battery life when displaying a still image. So, a Kindle's battery life can be measured in weeks or months compared to a few hours for an iPad. Second, unlike LCD and OLED displays, E-Ink mimics fine print on paper. In fact, E-Ink displays consist of actual microsized ink cells. E-Ink displays also don't emit light that shines directly into your eyes as LCD and OLED displays do. E-Ink displays are lit from the top down. In addition, E-ink displays can be viewed in brighter conditions and have far better viewing angles than LCD and OLED displays. As a result, E-ink displays on Kindles won't cause eye strain or fatigue from the blue light that OLED, and LCDs emit or from the white light that they emit directly into your eyes since pixels on those panels emit light that causes eye strain, fatigue, and general tiredness.
@tkani5 That's great, but it doesn't make for a great reading device. The whole point of a Kindle is not to have those things, which is a significant distraction to most people. You don't want to be receiving notifications or other distractions when reading. This is why the Kindles sell by the millions globally. The iPads don't make for a great reading experience. They're good at being tablets, but they're not good at being e-readers. Somebody who wants to look for a reading device isn't going to look at an iPad as their primary reading device if they're a big reader.

I wonder if it’s worth the upgrade to get the new kindle paperwhite when I already have the older model?

Still 150ppi for color. Pass.
I swear they do it on purpose so the next couple years they can keep releasing new and improved versions for more money to cash grab

Now that Paperwithe are 25% faster, is there anything new about the Word Runner option (speed reading) or do we have to wait another generation?
The scribe looks awesome.i have the old version and reading on it is great. I don't care about the writing part though.
It does indeed!

ur videos r so solid
Thank you! Hope you’re subscribed 🙌🏼
Such a detailed and solid review! And damn, the confidence. Love it!
I'm pretty sure the Scribe housing is the same....just duotone now.
The new Paperwhite has improved contrast too, they updated the screen. I can't wait to see your review
its metallic bLack unfortunately
I wanted a Scribe color. They failed. I’m selling my crappy Scribe and buying a Kobo. I’m not waiting any longer.
Why would you buy these products when you have iPad ? Almost same price
Porque a tela do ipad destrói seus olhos?
