Tbh I agree, more people that watch this should send this video to at least one person you know who is struggling or who you think this would help.

Thank you, Mazin. I have trouble trusting men due to my past experiences and this gives a little hope to me. It makes me feel safer to hear these things said. Thank you for your honesty.

When he talks with honesty and humility, I wish I were him. He is my hero, not how toxic masculinity defines a hero. He is more than his mistakes. He corrects them. He is an observer. What a beautiful soul🙏👍🙏💜

This young man gives me hope for the future in our world. This is the type of a man that I want as a neighbor, a friend and someone I can depend on. This is a man that I could hug without reserve, without fear of judgement and know that I am safe.

A new vision of "Be a Man" is long overdue. It takes courage to change. When we know better, we should do better.

Why is it always toughness vs. vulnerability or dominance vs. submission? You can't defend your ideas, yourself or someone else if all you do is become more vulnerable. Integrity requires some form of toughness. Not kissing that shoe when someone is trying to oppress you is defending your integrity. Asserting dominance over someone close just because you can is a completely is a completely different thing. Both no power and too much power corrupt. It's not the expectations that are bad, but what's missing is proper leadership.

You know, I gotta admit I have personally been experiencing this lesson in my life recently, and I can't agree with you more! Striking that balance is really hard. And trying to make a clear point in under 18 minutes with a really complex topic is challenging too. And, though that dichotomy isnt inherent, it is definitely what I was taught growing up, and that's why I'm shedding light on it. On the way of transcending a duality, sometimes we need to acknowledge that narrative we have been living from, so we can see what its costing us and how its affecting us.
This video has the purpose of practicing the vulnerability part, which is one of the many lessons I am seeking to learn on my journey. Perhaps in another video, I or someone will speak to striking this balance, but I can't say I've figured that one out myself yet, so this is where I am in my journey so far. Thanks for watching

This is what we need , this what women who fight for gender inequality faced for many years. It’s reality come true for me too. We have to end saying be a man, machismo, we need to understand that men have feelings and can express their feelings too and it’s not weakness for a man to cry.we need more men to show up. Thanks Mizan👏...

Such a search for liberty and only going down a road that ensnares further. Praise God for the gospel of Jesus Christ that doesn't place burdens before us that aren't ours to bear; and if we are guilty, the arms of a loving Father who accepts those willing to repent and believe in His Son. True liberty and freedom from our past with manhood modelled by God incarnate willing to suffer on my behalf, serving His bride.

A good example of a true man, is like the godfather from the movies but minus the irony.
I have a friend(guy) who told me this long honorable speech about him quitting smoke. And how he was going to stick to it and what not. He actually quit smoking but only lasted for 2 months.
It was disappointing..... not about him taking an unhealthy habit again, but rather the actions that he took "from the moment of his speech to smoking again" was what made me disappointed in him... he made a promise but failed to keep it and tell me it's hard. keeps giving me excuses when he promised so much. All talk and no game.
My father made the same promise to me when I was born. And has been keeping it for over decades and even to this very day.
It's a small thing, but things like this is a huge determining factor of the life outlook of a man.
A man is as good as the actions he shows. You can look like a man, but true men are man of their word.

All the negative things this guy speaks of are character flaws being attributed to manhood and that is what you all are calling "toxic masculinity". When a man abuses a woman or the people around them, it isn't b/c of masculinity or b/c they are a man, it is b/c they have flaws in their character.

    • @mazinjamal_

I agree. In this video my goal was to say what we are told being a man are ultimately not good character traits. Since then, although I wouldn’t take back most of this, I do think things have shifted to be a bit extreme where masculinity as a whole is being demonized, and important protection and provisions traits are being treated as violent, when they are essential.

I would say that "be a man" means that one must try their very hardest to be honest and courageous and righteous. Do what you know to be right. Help others. Support your family and make your community a better place. Practice discipline and regulation in all aspects of your life. Your actions will have unimaginable consequences.

I think even when mazin was being told to "be a man", he never understood what it meant. It's so much deeper, you don't kiss the shoe broh because because your dignity and pride is more Important, 1 day he's going to be a husband and a father, what about the dignity of your family. I think mazin lacks a good male role model and he's not fit to lead

    • @mazinjamal_
      @mazinjamal_ 6 місяців тому

You right about importance of dignity. I was 9 years old. Today, I would take the beating. I am a husband now, and admittedly while I don’t take back what I said, overall the culture does not appreciate masculinity and it needed more. A lot has changed for me, and I have become more committed to my faith and seeing men like Muhammad (PBUH) and the other prophets as the ultimate role models for us. We had people like Isa (Jesus) who were more loving, and others like Moses who were more strong, but all had dignity.
