  • Are spiritual gifts for today? Why did God give the church spiritual gifts? Should we compare the miraculous signs of the Old Testament with the spiritual gifts in the New Testament? Have the spiritual gifts ceased today or is God still using them as he did in the New Testament? How do we determine what is biblical and what is fake when we see spiritual gifts? Did the spiritual gifts only apply to the Jews and did they cease once the gospel reached the Gentiles? Pastor Jon Moffitt helps you look at the whole bible and the flow of God's story of redemption while looking at the subject of spiritual gifts.

Then why have I experienced healings, miracles, spiritual gifts, been told things by the spirit that came to past, and experienced the demonic too? So have many others.

Not sure I can agree that the gifts were just for the Jews to identify their Messiah.
“Does He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith-”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬
We also have Cornelius and the gentiles in acts speaking in tongues.
Forgive me if I did not hear you correctly.
    Regardless, love the podcast ❤

I have watched most of your videos and love your teachings so much but I think this may be a blind spot for you guys. I heard a pastor explain it really well not too long ago. He said that even if you are a cessationist, once you start going out into the world and evangelizing in some of the darker places you will start seeing things you can’t explain and start seeing people be healed and manifest demons and suddenly know things about people that you shouldn’t be able to know, etc and it’s all for God’s glory. I used to not believe in this stuff either. I was actually an atheist for many years and never experienced anything supernatural or believed in anything like that but ever since becoming a believer I have seen and experienced things that can simply not be explained by natural means. I know many others who have as well. Also when I read the text plainly I do not come away with the conclusion that supernatural gifts have ceased. I would ask you this: if the Holy Spirit is sanctifying us by supernatural means and not of our own will, why would He not also be able to heal or set someone free from demonic oppression through supernatural means? Also I would encourage you guys to look into the thousands of well documented Muslim conversions that have occurred due to dreams and visions. There is a book by Tom Doyle documenting the phenomenon called “Dreams and Visions: Is Jesus Awakening the Muslim World?”. Very good read. I would definitely encourage you guys to remain open minded on this topic because it’s not as black and white as y’all are making it out to be.

    Well said brother,
Not to be confused with gifts to the Church by the Spirit in the New Testament for the building up of the body

Right now I'm going through the most difficult time of my life, I'm about to turn 49 years old in a few days. I committed a very grievous sin about 11 years ago and also more recently, Our Father granted me repentance. Your videos have been helping me to find Rest In Christ, thanks again in the Lord ,May our heavenly Father bless you Brothers

The Bible does not teach that as the Gospel goes out to the Gentiles, the miracles faded away because they are not seen as necessary. Paul and Barnabas reported in Acts 15 of the miracles they had performed among the Gentiles. Paul wrote that from Jerusalem unto Illyricum, with signs and wonders, he had fully preached the Gospel of Christ. I Corinthians 12-14, chapters that deal with spiritual gifts in operation in the church was addressed to former pagans, former idolaters as we see in the opening verses of I Corinthians 12.
One can assert these ideas about the role of miracles ceasing, etc., but the scriptures do not teach this doctrine.

So true. Another one is this
““Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith-”
      ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭ESV‬‬
      The Galatians were not Jews

No one disagrees that if He’s not your Lord He’s not your Savior… I fully agree.
we are not saved by submitting to Jesus’ Lordship. We do not remain saved by submitting to Jesus’ Lordship. But we submit to His Lordship because we are saved. Therefore anyone who doesn’t submit to it proves they haven’t trusted Christ.
The difference is for me submitting to Him as Lord is a FRUIT. For you it’s the ROOT. So according to Galatians you’re on your way to hell

Woah controversial! I’ve had to agree to disagree with people on this topic for sure.
