One thing i learned is that tip culture is verry verry different from one place to another, and generally europeans don't tip a lot compared to americans, like there is a real big difference in tip culture between those 2 regions
Yes I understand that not EVERYONE has to tip. But listen, when you deliver a $40+ order, and you receive nothing, it sucks. A lot of people say “oh you got the delivery fee, so I don’t need to tip.” The delivery fee is NOT A FUCKING TIP!!!! I work at Dominos, our fee is $3.25, I receive $1 from that fee. It also all depends on your location and what’s going on. If I forget something, I tell the customer I’ll be right back with the missing item. Those of you saying that tipping doesn’t matter, probably means you’re not a delivery driver, and you don’t tip your own delivery drivers.
Yeah like $10 for my order cool some extra for delivery cool then boom a lot more extra fees for using the app like fees that cost more than even the delivery that’s where I’m like woah wtf ive been using the apps for a long time and noticed they took advantage of the pandemic and raised the prices I used to order out a lot but now they lost my business because of that and that’s why I now only use the apps when I get big coupon codes where I basically just pay what it would have costed to go myself
When I worked for Domino's there had been times where people said "if it wasn't for the delivery charge I would tip more" and it's like only $1 or 2 for tip. Delivery charge was $4 when I joined August of 2017 (min. wage $11.25./hr). It stayed the same until we got a new owner in July 2018 (min. wage $12.00/hr), then it creeped up 50 cents at a time literally every few months, and it's $5.99 when I left (min. wage $12.50/hr). Today the fee is still $5.99 (now min. wage is $13.25/hr). In that time the mileage reimbursement pay only went up 3 cents per mile in the whole time I worked there (from 23 cents to 26 cents), and that was before any delivery charge increases occursed.

So this kid works in his parents sandwich shop and doesn't expect pay and that's a joke?? Sounds like a hero to me but maybe we have different ethics.

I feel this so much. After becoming a delivery driver, I started tipping so much better because I had gained a new awareness of how much work it is to make a living on tips
as someone who has done delivery, in Australia, a lot of rural properties were in the middle of nowhere, so hard to find that was a big issue for us, also most drivers here earn a low wage and also live on tips, its one of the only jobs that's tips here in oz, that being said smallest tip i ever got was 5 cents no joke and the largest was $80 on a 520 dollar order (there about)

As a delivery driver for that very popular app of whom was listening to these stories while delivering for that app, thank you so much for the appreciation. I’ve been doing this thing since a few months after corona since I recently graduated at the time and I needed to make money. It’s definitely harder than you think. Some days you’ll go home happy that you made so much and others you’ll go home sad that you basically sat in your car for 4 hours without a single delivery, and that means no money.
Aint my problem you gotta drive certain amount of miles, i already pay for the delivery and the stuff i ordered, tip isnt obligatory, if i feel like youre doing a good job i might tip, you need to earn it.
Thank you for bringing this up. I tried to grind the delivery driving jobs just because I was really desperate at one point but I’m pretty sure with all the gas and mileage on the car that it’s more like losing money.
As a delivery driver i can 100% agree. I do truck delivery's though so all restaurants no tips of course as we get payed by the hour. But when your busting you ass and a customer just complains about everything and how wrong things are it gets pretty tiering.
But I mean it’s not like delivery drivers can make “less” money, they make a lot of money compared to the insiders. Insiders are the unsung heroes I think.
Since they are “independent contractors” in most states the companies aren’t required to pay minimum wage so if they are having a bad day they can go home being paired only a couple dollars an hour. That said good days they can make over minimum

im a truck driver and my friends keep telling me that i get to listen to my favorite music all the time as well but also with this youre in traffic for almost 10 hours a day and waiting a lot of hours with the containers that im driving. Yep I agree. It should never be the customer's job to decide how much a company's employees should be paid. Tipping is nothing like how is used to be at first. What used to be an added bonus of customer appreciation, is now something companies take advantage of to avoid paying their delivery drivers properly. Drivers began relying on tips while company higher ups became richer. Soo glad I live in a country where tipping is looked down upon...

I was a doordash delivery driver just recently so I could do college. It really was a lot of fun, but you're completely right. Those 13 miles drives were ridiculous. The last order that made ne stop doing it was a 20 mile drive to another town. 40 mile round trip is not worth it.
Never been a delivery driver or a waiter....but I always tip well because the service they are providing is a luxury and I feel I as the customer should be appreciative

Aint my problem you gotta drive certain amount of miles, i already pay for the delivery and the stuff i ordered, tip isnt obligatory, if i feel like youre doing a good job i might tip, you need to earn it.

Thank you for bringing this up. I tried to grind the delivery driving jobs just because I was really desperate at one point but I’m pretty sure with all the gas and mileage on the car that it’s more like losing money.

As a delivery driver i can 100% agree. I do truck delivery's though so all restaurants no tips of course as we get payed by the hour. But when your busting you ass and a customer just complains about everything and how wrong things are it gets pretty tiering.
But I mean it’s not like delivery drivers can make “less” money, they make a lot of money compared to the insiders. Insiders are the unsung heroes I think.

Since they are “independent contractors” in most states the companies aren’t required to pay minimum wage so if they are having a bad day they can go home being paired only a couple dollars an hour. That said good days they can make over minimum

im a truck driver and my friends keep telling me that i get to listen to my favorite music all the time as well but also with this youre in traffic for almost 10 hours a day and waiting a lot of hours with the containers that im driving. I get payed well, nothing to say about that but i do feel for the young kids that have to deliver for a low paycheck

Listen.. I dont wanna be that guy.. and I know in America this is even more intense, than where I live.. but I hate tipping.. I mean come on dude what do you want from me you work for your job.. why would I want to give my money to someone just because of some social convention that originated at some point.. now people expect tips. And even more with food delivery guys.. I get that their job is hard and what not but it is not my job to pay them.. they work for a company and the company should pay them approprietly.. if they are not getting payed enough for gods sake make my food or delivery costs more expensive but dont fucking expect a tip thats ridiculous imo... is my package delivery guy getting tipped?.. no so why would the guy that delivers food? where is the logic?
I get that its hard out there.. but I want to be able to give a tip if I feel like it.. if I am feeling generous.. not because some stupid social convention...

Yep I agree. It should never be the customer's job to decide how much a company's employees should be paid. Tipping is nothing like how is used to be at first. What used to be an added bonus of customer appreciation, is now something companies take advantage of to avoid paying their delivery drivers properly. Drivers began relying on tips while company higher ups became richer. Soo glad I live in a country where tipping is looked down upon...

Tipping in restauarants is intended to compensate for underpaying employees.
I was a doordash delivery driver just recently so I could do college. It really was a lot of fun, but you're completely right. Those 13 miles drives were ridiculous. The last order that made ne stop doing it was a 20 mile drive to another town. 40 mile round trip is not worth it.
