I think a trouser length is wider than a yard..if that is the case, then two trouser length should be enough.

The waist area is already wide enough because of the way I folded the fabric and cut it out.
It’s a flare pant,there’s enough room for the bum.

Because it’s a flare pant,if you divide it by more than 3 inches,it’s going to be bigger than your actual waist circumference,unless you want to pleat the excess fabric on the waist.
