Honestly... there's times I think I should just clear ALL the shelves, pack EVERYTHING up and start again.... And just return the figures I really want and need to display. Would be a MASSIVE job but 😂😆 might be worth it!!
I kinda stopped but Im not planning to sell my collection. Ive started in 1987 did lots of garages sales flea markets, conventions etc I have dedicated a lot of time and money since then. I stopped buying and Im happy with what I have. Lots of my carded figures on cards are in boxes OTC, TVC
🤔Isn't it obvious (?) *_Knock💥 Out The Ceiling☝_* -&- Build a Bubble Skylight / 2.5nd Floor!! ( + Do the unthinkable: *_86/Get Rid Of_* any & all *_Duplicates_* & just keep the *_Best Figure Representations_* ) 🙃👍
Every time I see either of your rooms, it just gives me the WOW factor. I hear ya as soon as I make one small change, the whole lot gets moved around to accommodate. I am debating with myself to change my main display room around....again. But like you say, it's all about having the time.
My wife had me watch the Marie Kondo show, years ago. It had a profound effect on me ( not so much my wife). It allowed me to arrange my toys in a way that was is artistic, and encouraged me to swoosh all my ships around, and yes gives me joy every time I enter the room.
I had the same dilema about 5 years ago before my room got refurbished. Displaying loose figures are mostly fine for me, the main problem is having scene specific displays. The only scene specific display that have remained consistent no matter what is my Jabba display. On another note, Ive just turned 17, and I just wanted to thank you for your consistently cool Sw content over the years!
I have the same problem, running out of space. I have my carded and loose figures in the same room. I have a shelf of POTF2 figures that I don't really need to display, but I can't bring myself to retire them.
I moved three years ago and had to box up my whole collection - then I had to wait 2.5 years to get it all out in a dedicated room last Xmas - got everything exactly how I wanted it and low and behold we’ve started an extension now and I’ve just boxed up the whole lot again! It’s been a real pain in the ass. The weird thing about not having ANY collection on display now and probably for the next 6 to 9 months, is how it really frees the mind of the addiction side of the hobby - honestly feel like a weight has been lifted in some respects so I think it’s a pretty healthy thing to do actually. When I get my room back up and running I’m going to cut the wheat from the chaff and give everything room to breathe - a crowded collection doesn’t look great
Love the “Movie Poster” display idea Nick ❤ Could you fit those movie poster groupings on any of your corner shelves one on top of each other mate? It would look ace and free up the longer shelves? Just an idea buddy 😊
@carlpike4416 considered that top Carl aye! But I thought I was using corners for mini rig type stuff... What I could really do with doing is taking EVERYTHING out and just start again!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh man, that went to somewhere I didn't expect. I thought for sure you were going to say that the weird thing or best thing about boxing up your collection for months is UNboxing them and RE-displaying them again, playing with them and repositioning the entire collection.
I look at TVC like I did as a Kid, creating my own stories and viewing them as elements of an expanded universe, where stories that are not trilogy-specific exist. Obviously, it would help if you had some rules like Luke can't be with Kenobi/ McGregor... but expand the stories and worlds, especially after the dire Disney era.
Sometimes, having too many things can make a space feel cluttered, and the items you truly value no longer stand out. I believe it's healthy and wise to let go of things you no longer feel connected to, whether for completionist reasons or otherwise. In the end, collecting should be a fun hobby, not a burden. Less really is more at times.
"If everything's precious, nothing is." Get rid of the inferior figures and just display the best of the best. Since I restarted collecting I try to be very selective with what I add to my collection in the hope I avoid this problem. I try to adopt a curator mindset over a (compulsive) collector one.
It’s a very real challenge for every passionate collector. Display space. You have done very well. I understand using unloved figures as Easter eggs. But made the choice to move those on because I didn’t want them unloved in a closet.
I feel your pain! But what a joyous pain it is for the 3.75 community to have. I feel like TVC & Haslabs are only ramping up, can't imagine what all of our rooms/homes will look like in another 4-5 yrs. But I also can't imagine ever ending my collection. And being a completionist only makes it that much more difficult. I've been avoiding moving my collection from the spare bedroom to the basement but I know that day is coming, and my blood pressure is going up just thinking about it lol. But I still happily welcome this problem over not having anything new in the line.
It’s a blessing you’ve accumulated all the figures, ships, play sets over the years. Like I said, a true collector buys more than one including ships. I’m proud of you and cheers brotha!🍺🍺🍺🍺😎🎸🎸
Man I had the same feeling 1 year ago when I came back on collecting. I had so many version of the same character, same were fine some were awful , some where coming in tvc. Now I re arranged everything by source and got rid of doubles or bad version of characters. I paid my Ghost like this last year.: I sold my 30annivwrsary Revan for example since waiting the new one. Had a bunch of bad mace Windu, sold the entire 5o is Ghost Crew. Now I just buy new TVC that I need and side characters on the secondary market that I did not have before.
Nice! Thanks for commenting. That's exactly what I need to do. And hey, if I ever get a bigger place. I'll resurrect somehow the crapper figures! Like, have a POTF2 / POTJ specific shelf! 🤷🏻♂️👍🙃
Always love looking at your collection mate,I think it's brilliant and amazing. You need a bigger house 🤦😂. Sometimes less is more, I like your room the way it used to be, can you change it back please??😉😂😂😂 Any figures you want to move on,I would gladly give them a new home 😂😂. Wishing you all the best with that and can't wait to see your new set. Take care, all the best and good luck with that, big job mate.😊👍 Ps I like your waffling 😂 don't know why? Just do, it's what makes your videos you I guess and your presenter style.
I have a tiny walk in wardrobe, cubby hole is what it is !. I had to get rid of my 2008 Falcon, just no room to display!. Apart from small playsets /dioramas,I'm only make buying vehicles in Micro Galaxy, only other vehicle I had that I'm not selling is Luke's X-Wing.
It's the ultimate problem, space and lack of it! I've always displayed my figures and vehicles etc opened up and in the lines they were released in. But I too am running out of space, especially with the Ghost and Cantina coming (plus the other pieces coming up). Is there nowhere else in your house you can locate too? Garage/loft conversion?
If it was my room I would probably put shelves up in front of the window. You would gain a lot of new display space. Unfortunately you would lose out on the sunlight
Lol. I noticed that after I posted the comment. I basically got rid of all my POF figures and replaced them with the newer vintage collection. Except for some like the ATAT driver. Lol
Maybe you could build a finished small storage barn with a complete interior to display your items in your backyard. I have considered this for myself.
Whatever you believe would be best. I think if I were in your predicament, I would leave one shelf for Tatooine and then two shelves for the originals and prequels, and unless you really love something from the new Disney stuff, pack everything else up. Then reserve remaining shelves for displaying your ships or helmets or even use one up for a lightsaber, and save some shelves for future items. Maybe add in led lights with the figure shelves as well. I think it would all feel more spacious and aesthetically pleasing to you. You might even consider removing shelves to display the barge or Jabba’s palace so you can move stuff from the floor space, get a nice relaxing chair and table in that room so you can properly view everything, and maybe either add a roll down projector screen over the window or put a tv up where you remove shelves to have whatever Star Wars related things on screen.
Is the main bedroom bigger? If so, move your bed in here and decamp the whole shebang into there... fresh canvas and more space for SW... Or....there's the garden, build a SW man-cave
Had this same peoblem about 4 year ago decided to get rid of eveything non original trilogy..best thing i ever done..dont miss all the prequel, sequel stuff at all
I did the same thing this year. Just original trilogy. Suddenly, my collection was manageable and it represented the Star Wars that meant something to me and my nostalgic connection. I must have sold off 60-75% of my collection. If the space isn't there, you need to let shit go.
I feel your pain. I grew up during the original trilogy era. My main collection is Original trilogy. But then I decided to do the mandalorian and some expanded universe. I decided not to go sequel or prequel for the fear of running out of space. But yet again I am...lol All 3.75 figures. I use curio glass cabinets instead of shelves and some detolf cabinets.
STOP!!.........OOK I love your room, it's awesome, but I think your going to drive yourself crazy if you don't have a clear vision of what your trying to do!! I don't envy you because there's a lot to move but unfortunately that's your challenge! Set out your vision for your room on paper first, double check and then execute. What you have left pack aay for a rainy day! I do think you can find more space, enough to keep you going for a little while!! Good luck😂
Hmm I can see parts of this display that are fixed and many parts that can be manipulated..I don't think your display requires decompression yet...if you remember my old apartment, my shelves were jamm packed. You have plenty of opportunity and space my friend..I don't believe you have painted yourself in a corner..yet..cheers Nick🍺🍺🍻
Know exactly how you feel lol. I will never stop buying 3.75” Star Wars. My collection is tiny compared to this. But when I do the same, mainly when I buy my figures for that month, you HAVE to make room for them don’t we!!! That’s when the headache starts lol. I’ve just done mine. Made some new diorama pieces,so of course, you have to fudge things about. I’ve only got one side of the spare bedroom,so space is limited. I have it all set up on a large black glass coffee table. I’ve had to leave some stuff out, just so I can fit it all in. I dread the day I am finally able to buy a BMF,that’s all my space done then lol. Great video as always Nick👍
Mate who am I to say anything, but if those were my shelves and figures : - I’d drop the movie posters idea as it seems to have kicked the problem off. - I’d start preparing room for next years Cantina by dumping all the new media stuff … keep it Ep 1 - 6 only and any associated spin offs like Clone Wars etc. But that’s just me😁
Yeah, maximizing the display space is always a pain in the ass. I noticed you have a lot of glass shelves, have you thought about finding some glass shelves that run the length of the window? maybe 3 or 4 shelves high, but still low enough to allow in natural light. Maybe you can stack the ones you have? The vehicles could be spread about on that which would free up some space for more shelves where the falcon is, and maybe some floor space for another display or something for dioramas? Another idea is hanging your lighter ships from the ceiling, or figuring out something like what your using for your x-wings (brilliant idea btw) for your other ships. Don’t know if any of that helps. Regardless, it’s going to be a tear it down and rebuild it thing, which sucks. Just take it in chunks man. You got this!
I’m in the same boat right now OOK, only much worse because I’m trying to fit all my carded collection on the wall and my loose collection on tables. It’s full to the brim, zero room and I still have the Ghost and Cantina coming. So much “definitive” newer stuff I have spent money on will have to be put away to make room 😭.
Once you place your cantina all the figs from the other shelf will move and make room……. I would place bigger things on top as they may fill up all the space there
I believe all of us TVC collectors with hundreds of figures & scores of vehicles, who don't live in a mansion, can relate. I sold off a ton of prequel & Clone Wars vehicles. I may need to re-refocus the collection again! Lol I even dumped my "The rise of Boba Fett" vehicle battle pack. Now I'm lacking a (big) Jango's Slave 1. The super clean look from the Clone Wars vehicle line really clashes with the rest of the "lived in" universe look of the other lines. Even TVC 1.0 vehicle decos are just acceptable these days. TVC 2.0 vehicles decos are just too incredible! Even thinking of dumping Saga Legends sand troopers & Storm troopers. The new figures are so incredible, swivel hips are really starting to bug me. I can't stand those terrible swivel elbows of the Tusken Raiders from the Discover The Force line, neither. Defintely will need to sift through the collection & take all the recent undesirables to the local toyshow.
What’s up, sir! My suggestion keep the historical line of Kenobi vs Vader, and then all the other figures that you class as sub par or bum you out, put them in a box and hide them away. Keep them away for a bit and see if you miss them. I bet you won’t!
1 : more of a pillar system for the vehicles, because you loose a ton of display hight with all those lower tables in the middle of your room.. 2 : i allways kinda thought your shelving is reallly shallow , depth wise..
A dilemma every collector inevitably faces. Especially if you're into modern. That shit is endless, lol. Helps that I have a pretty narrow focus, I guess. But still. Might have to block out that big bastard window with shelves or cabinets or something. Heaps of display space right there!
Bro feel your pain…. I’m moving house and had to pack everything away… its an immense investment and very worrying when things keep turning up…. Bro i feel your pain
My opinion, Display only Prequels and OT and box up disney plus figures, don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Disney plus series, but they don't compare to the nostalgia of the movies 💪😉 and when or if you get a bigger space to display everything then display it all, Just my opinion 🤜🤛
See that big window area? You don't need a window, board it up and BOOM!! Plenty of room to hang more shelves...problem solved. See that big window area? Perfect place for a room extension...problem solved. See that big window area? You can put out long, metal rods and have all your ships flying INTO the room...problem solved. See that big window area??? Nope... ran out of ideas.
If you displayed your figures in chronological order the majority of your issues would be resolved. Its just my opinion but i think you need some kind of order system due to the amount of stuff you've got
Honestly... there's times I think I should just clear ALL the shelves, pack EVERYTHING up and start again.... And just return the figures I really want and need to display. Would be a MASSIVE job but 😂😆 might be worth it!!
It's funny that you say that. Because that's what I'm in the middle of doing right now 😂😂😂
Just think yourself grateful you have a bloody dedicated room just to display figures ect, 😂
It does happen to collectors who have large collections! My Buffy collection is pretty full so Im done!

I know the feeling its one of the reasons I kinda stopped collecting. I sometimes pick a thing or two but its not like in the good old days
Nice to hear from you François! 🩵👌🙏
It's a good looking nightmare
😂😂👌 cheers Ollie! 🙏
We're gonna need a bigger boat?
😂👌 indeed Chief Brody! Except swap out boat, with room! 🙃👍
Its very easy I'll take the spares and not even charge storage 😂
😂👌👉
Have you ever thought about, dare I say it.....downsizing. 😢
I guess you dropped this comment before you heard me say it! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️😂
Also... check out video description man... I say the very same thing 👌
Love your opinion!! 👌🙂
How about the carded room ? How are you managing with space ?
Gonna be spending more time in there as winter kicks in... so watch this space! 😉👌🩵
And where will you pu that Geonosis Arena?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 exactly!!
P.s that's on the cards Kurt! 😉👌
You have a lot of wasted space. Those figures are placed in the wrong spots. Too many vehicles. Wasted space.
These vehicles aren't usually there! I was in the middle of moving stuff around.
Unless you wanna care to specify which vehicles you mean?
Will you be doing an Acloyte shelf? I think its been canned
😆😆😆 nah!! But... there'll be a place for Master Sol somewhere! 😉👌
You seen what I've done to the window in my cerdee room?! Well, 4 years ago actually.... 😉
If you displayed your figures in chronological order the majority of your issues would be resolved. Its just my opinion but i think you need some kind of order system due to the amount of stuff you've got
How long have you followed me?...
Just pack all the PT & ST crap 💩 in the attic. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 just kidding ❤ OOK 😊
Errrr.... You not seen my 2024 Room Tour?! If you can tell me where I've got ST items in this room... I look forward to hearing.
@@OnlyOneKenobi I’m only kidding around Nick.
