I've tried this a couple of times so far, and compared v11, version 12 is SO much more natural. There is a sense of competency/confidence that the system itself has now (not MY confidence in it, but how the system deals with the environment now). It was always sort of herky-jerky and indecisive before...but it's like a real driver behind the wheel now. It's going to be scary how good this system is going to be as it gets smarter. Great job Tesla engineers!
Im on 12.3.3 and it still makes multiple mistakes a minute in the city. Seems okay for suburbs but I havent managed to drive in the city for longer than 2min without observing ridiculous behaviour. I think to reach true FSD in a real city you need a computer that recognizes all or most of non-driving related reality , because truly any kind of unique one-time event can occur on a street, and so many things will never make it into fsd training data, that the average human does have the ability to instantly recognize.
I'm from Seattle and FSD doesn't work on crazy streets we have here, plus directions are most of the time wrong as well. I guess this is work in progress...
I'm in Seattle, there is no way for FSD to drive even on short trips with at least 5 disangments. It works great on highways or in suburban environment, but not in crazy streets of Seattle.
While I appreciate all the positive and confident statements on FSD, my own experience is not that good. I have a 2021 YP, and bought FSD back then for $10k. Definitely have NOT gotten my “money’s worth” yet. I’ve loved the highway mini-attention needed on two round trips CA to NJ, but “regular trips” around town or off the highways just doesn’t get it. Yet. Two days ago with V12.0, the car refused to enter the intersection because line of sight was terrible. Today, in heavy LA traffic, I had to stop it from trying to change lanes…just no advantage with traffic a mess for several miles, *AND* the lane changes were dangerous IMHO. Add to this my relatively aggressive driving style…so when *I* know it isn’t safe, I’m not applying grandma sentiment. As I said, I love love love the optimism, but I’m now thinking maybe mid-2025 for actual FSD not-so-Supervised. At best. (And I’m a MSEE-Digital/BS-CS with AI course back in 1972 - just for reference.)
Pretty convincing, I can see how this already surpasses the average driver’s abilities. It’s rapidly becoming a moral hazard not to have this implemented everywhere.
Farzy this was such a cool idea. My video ended up being here, that’s super cool! With FSD I look for reasons to go just about anywhere. It’s awesome, and my wife and I have a lot of fun with it. Thanks again Farz!
We are having multiple wow moments every day. Construction zones, even on an unmarked lane. The best was a failure on Monday - we returned on Tuesday and the car navigated perfectly. No idea how this happened. We've gone from terrified, to nervous to relaxed and loving it in a week.
These are all well and good, but V12.3.3 still misses simple things. Really simple things. On my last trip, FSD chose the wrong lane at a complicated exit (,the "Mixing Bowl" where I-95, I-395, and I-495 meet just south of Washington DC). On the next exit, it entered the exit at far too high a rate of speed and would not have negotiated the exit without driver intervention. Later, in the space of 1.5 miles on surface streets, it chose the wrong for upcoming turns 3 times (3 times in 1.5 miles!). In one case, it attempted to make the left turn anyway (from the thru lane), and would have pulled in front of right-of-way traffic without driver intervention. It continues to have lane selection issues, even when the intersection is clear and the lanes are clearly marked. This is the only situation where FSD reverts to the robotic wheel-jerk back-and-forth behavior. At stop signs when there is no cross traffic, FSD continues to be extra hesitant to cross the lanes or turn into the crossing lane. Also, when crossing or turning into the cross-traffic lane, FSD is super slow as it establishes itself and then "floors it ." Not unsafe, but not a pleasant driving experience, and very annoying for other drivers on the road. Driving a 2018 M3P with USS in the Washington DC metro area. Given the fact that FSD still can't do the simple stuff, it continues to be a more stressful experience than just driving myself. Trying to hang on to the idea that it will someday be at least minimally useful, but it's not yet there and it's not even close.

First, it recognised person emerging from behind parked car. That she (pedestrian) stopped indicates self-preservation kicked in. FSD behaved impeccably. Yeah, hand gestures were irrelevant, that part is anthropomorphism, but fun. I can imagine in future AGI will interpret hand gestures, probably Optimus first.

that 1:30 event was from the person stepping back, absolutely not taking their hand gestures into account as the person wasn't even gesturing in a way you'd recognize as waving you through. Otherwise a really impressive compilation though
It's becoming more and more so that FSD is going the way of the elevator, where we used to have elevator operators and now you just 'trust it'. Robotaxis are just 3d elevators.
It’s also important to show the times it didn’t do so well.
That is true. Ime, I’ve had zero interventions since V12. Have you seen differently?
They do, plenty of other channels that show failures.
@@ryanreeves8931I don’t have a Tesla yet…. I just encourage a controlled excited for what this will mean for Tesla, not an all out party ….not until no one can deny FSDs superiority over human drivers.🙂
FSD needs horn-control so it can properly communicate with people like the jerk in the Tundra at 1:45. 🤣
Best driver that humans can never be. This software will make traditional driving obsolete. This will create own technology sphere.
I expect getting a Tesla will be very similar to buying a 5G phone. You don’t necessarily want to subscribe to FSD immediately but you also don’t want a car without it. Tesla marketing needs to let people know that their "5G Moment" is here.
Why did the chickens cross the road? Because FSD waited for them!
chazman is legit.. next will probably 3 point turn or reverse and we are getting much closer to the ROBOTAXI level....
You would think they could get auto wipers right if they can do all this
I really want to know: how does the Tesla choose a parking spot from all the options?!!!
Falling together...
Love this ❤
I'll be speechless when I just get the darn update.
Anyone else still stuck on FSD v11.4.9?
Why did the chicken cross the road? Because V12 allowed it!
this was a fantastic video, please do more like this!
I won't be speechless until the car is autonomous, which is not likely for at least two years.
02:07 this is a garage!
Sry, I'm European.
I didn’t actually watch the video. Did the speech end because the driver crashed, or was he rendered speechless because his heart stopped? 😊
