Out of interest, what do you think is the source of the problem? The US has been overloaded with automatic rifles since the Vietnam war era, yet the mass shootings didn't really start becoming a thing until the late 1990s/early 2000s. I am asking because I am not sure availability of guns is the cause, and if we only treat the symptoms the source of them will never be resolved. Do we want to stop the killings, or just pass laws to give ourselves a false sense of safety without ever addessing the cause of the violence?
@@RarebitFiends What symptoms? Are you under the impression that other countries don't have people with mental illnesses obtaining firearms or is it the other countries just have stricter rules on who can obtain weapons? Why are there rarely ever women mass shooters? What is the source/symptoms you are referring to? I do know that almost all other countries not only have mental health help, but since the have universal health care coverage, people aren't hesitant to get help. Gun ownership went from 100 million guns in 1970 to 500 million guns now. A 5 fold increase. We need much stricter laws on different types of guns as well as universal red flag laws so people posting threats on social media can get their guns taken away as needed.
@@chadcoady9025 The symptoms are the shootings. I am unsure of the specific causes, but we know some of them, like media venerating mass shooters and turning them into celebrities. I agree with you that better mental health support is likely critical to solving the greater problem, and agree universal health care is a necessity. These are solutions that get to the core issues I suspect, and we are not the only western nation wracked with violence. Knife attacks and killings for example have been on a steep rise in the UK over the past decade. Where there is a will there is a way, so we must discover and solve for the root issues, otherwise this doesn't stop. In the US it's particularly important we solve for the root issue because frankly there are far too many guns already out there in the wild for us to ever realistically hope to stamp out gun violence by taking away guns. Personally, I am very interested in ending the violence, not in playing team sports the way America seems to love to do with most important topics.

19:30 the gun thing, I’m a parent, I don’t like DJT, but that answer made me sick. Hunting for sport justifying my kids being in danger at school ???? We can have good pew pew laws & hunters, we have to do something.

I was going to write something about the Mr beast billboard thing, but then I heard the eloquent Trump answer.
After that all my thoughts started seeping out of my brain.
Hmm, I always get an urge to eat my face when I hear him.
I should try your thing next time.
Donald Trump’s answer is like a failing student trying to hit their word count for a final essay about the US government by going off in a side tangent about how the kid in the back row likes to steal lunch money.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When a quote from an Adam Sandler movie sums up a presidential candidate's answer, you got problems. From Little Nickie: "At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
Little nicky? I thought it was Billy Madison or maybe some other Sandler movie. Its hard to keep them straight because he pretty much plays the same character in almost everything he does.

UA-cam IS my only form of "social media" and it's kind of not social media.
My favourite substitute teacher, who we managed to get several times, would spend part of the class time doing magic tricks and then the rest of the time showing us how the tricks were done and how to do it ourselves. OK. Tweeting here instead of Twitter.
I'm planning on getting a bagel, but the bagel shop down the road has been taken over by the local gang of homeless cats. Whenever anyone goes into the store, they're fine, but they can't exit as the cats guard the doors and won't let people leave with food. I remember being locked in their with my wife, begging her to down her raisin bagel, otherwise Jacker-bigbutt (The cat leader) would be seeing us on the outside. I'll update once I've returned.
