I don't want anyone to have to suffer mental disorders, but I am happy to see men going in and asking for mental health help. I think too many don't because they feel it's them admitting they are weak, and in reality, I think asking for help, shows strength.
I do like in general a lot of patients that see those care providers feel comfortable enough to bring up mental health struggles.

I live in the US, but even I know that there have been major cuts in NHS funding. Reduction in funding has caused many doctors to leave GP practice, shorter time allotted with the doc and longer wait times. If these things make you mad then contact your local MP.
I live in the States and both my son and I have chronic health issues (mine orthopedic and his mostly autoimmune). We pay $700.00 per month for family coverage (which is low). We meet my deductible of $7500.00 and my son’s deductible of $6,000.00 every year. This doesn’t take into account all of the prescription costs. And yes, even with my husband and I working full time, we really struggle to get by. In the nicest way possible - please stop complaining and fund the NHS. You are so blessed.

@@B_27 I’m sure you’re right that it’s the people who have the money to hire private doctors. Then they can say, “See. The NHS doesn’t work!” and make some more money. But it takes everyone to make that turn around. 🙂 Of course, I’m not from the UK, so it’s not my place to say. Truly. The situation in the US feels so hopeless that I look to places like the UK and Canada and hope that you can keep the wonderful healthcare that you have.

@@B_27 But don’t the citizens vote for the people in your government? The same citizens who use NHS? I’m confused. That’s how we do it in the US and I thought it was the same in the UK. Except that the citizens in the US don’t care about universal healthcare.

@@yvonnetruelove2270 I'm not from the UK but if their politicians are anything like those in Australia (where I'm from) the differences between the major parties are about as shallow as a puddle. Also, I'm sure you're aware that the policies used to gain votes are not always the same as those which are actioned. To put it simply, politicians lie.

A standard GP appointment in Australia is pretty short but if you have a lot of complex things going on, the GP will often see you for a longer appointment of 20 min. I take a list to my 20 min appointment so we get everything done. Some doctors freak out if you have a lot of things going on, but my GP is pretty good!

Actually not true. England has some of the worst health in the world and they all have access to some type of health care. No one can see a specialist without seeing a GP first, unless they want to pay cash for the appointment. Iceland has some of the best healthcare access, but more than 50% of their income goes to pay for it. The reality of socialized medicine is that someone has to pay for it. NHS has been pretty much bankrupt. More than 90% of their healthcare is done by GPs because they want people to avoid specialists.

In America if we visited doctors with rashes, scraps, sore joints, colds, etc., we'd be thousands of dollars in debt. So we don't see a doctor for these sorts of things. We have to be half dead to afford healthcare, that is if we're under 65 yrs old. I had an allergic reaction and had to go to emergency. That visit charged $28,000.00. Because I'm over 65 and have Medicare I didn't have to pay that entire cost. I hope you British people appreciate your NH care. I love your shows!

Actually in the US, most insurance companies have an expectation that the physicians will spend no more than 10 or 15 minutes with each patient. But the docs in the US seem to be less organized and focused during those 10-15 minutes, perhaps because they are trying to work within the scope of insurance regulations and ICD codes.

Get that child out moving with mom Not sending him to a fat classes. This is about whole family healthy habits Not the child alone. Children don’t make themselves fat, it’s the whole families poor habits that lead to an over weight child. Putting all that on the child is going to severely damage their mental health and they’ll likely still struggle with the weight the rest of their life. Whole family healthy habit building is what will stick for the child long term.

Also, we have had children come to St Louis Children’s hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children’s hospital for treatment that Canada deemed unnecessary or experimental and without the treatment here in the United States they would have died.
