This is how I spent 6 weeks in Thailand. No phone, no GPS, no bookings, just maps, guide books and emails home via internet cafes. Greatest trip of my life.
@@aligallop I too was in my 20s when I did it. No fear, no responsibilities, living the dream. Problem is now most people don't even consider it an option. They don't appreciate that there are benefits to travelling in this way. Your video highlights them all!
Please keep telling stories - the visual art and way you articulate a narrative to camera simultaneously is superb. If only, selfishly, so I can see them. Bravo
YESSS Francois, taking just a film camera was so much fun. It was so so nice taking pics and not getting to see them until we got them developed a week later! Thanks mate
Ali I rarely comment anything on UA-cam, but I'm so glad that I stumbled upon your channel! Thanks for making such a memorable storytelling in every of your videos. Honestly you're inspiring man!
Love it and so true. Almost all of my most memorable moments in life have been the result of random spontaneity. Mad nights out, weird and scary events in random countries, unexpected connections with people. Basically all the good stuff. Thanks for the reminder.
You Sir are an Inspiration in many ways, I Love your work, and you totally nail your Goal to inspire people to travel more instead of watching more travel. My prediction: You will be the GOAT one day here on UA-cam.
This is in total contrast to what I do for a living, and I LOVE IT Ali, brilliant, just brilliant! You never fail to inspire and motivate me - Patiently waiting for the next one! x
Ali this was amazing, I love the storytelling and the rhythm. This was a really good Video, thank you! :) little Feedback: after you arrived at the hotel and went partying it felt like the story was told and the video was over, so in the following 2 minutes between 10-12min it felt like there was a down, if you look at the Story side of the video Yes, that's my Feedback Fuck, I Love your Videos and your personality is so strong, like you have a interesting character. Daily Vlogging would maybe be a good idea. cheers
criminally underrated channel and videos. Keep going, hope to see you big one day so your videos make it to more people so they can be inspired by them to do and to create
Thank you man! massively appreciate the comment. I just watched your vid about travel videos right now and totally agree - 5 years ago I would've tried to make this video a cinematic masterpiece haha, but it really feels liberating to make something that closer represents my personality. Love you stuff man
Found your channel today and am glad I did. I would love to see more about your total process of constructing your videos, from how much video you shoot, time spent editing, where you come up with your choices for music, etc. Then again, I'm a video nerd, so maybe only I'm interested in this stuff.
Another great film man. I always put my phone in flight mode as much as possible while travelling - learned that one early when I lost my phone in Vietnam and spent the next two weeks realising that actually...it was quite nice travelling without the phone. But I'm still guilty of all the pre-booking and Google-reviewing 😂 gunna try this out on my next adventure! And props to you - that was A LOT of driving. Driving a moped on Indonesian roads is intense and leaves you exhausted every time.
It speaks volumes doesn't;t it, that one of the boldest things we could do, is to leave our phone at home. Thanks for a great film and stark reminder of the adventures that lay beyond a screen (I wrote whilst looking at my computer). The world has changed so much hasn't;t it, this was the norm within our lifetime. Diolch eto, Ali!
it's crazy as I was editing it I started to think hang on, I'm making this sound like a crazy thing but 15 years ago this is how I travelled?!? haha so insane how things have changed. Something I didn't add at the end was I filmed the day I got back and I actually felt quite sad and emotional because of the contrast of how I felt compared to those 7 days. Thanks man, appreciate you taking the time to comment
What a great idea! Looked like great fun. I always said that if the GPS went down everyone would be completely lost as they have become so reliant so quickly on it.

it's funny because I suddenly thought the other day - this is exactly how I travelled at 21 in Thailand! The world has changed so much

Love the memories you making. Like how the photos at end looks like out of those old albums. Cheers Mate! We'll done!
