Great spirit from Avery tired Reds side at the end of a long season. To win our first trophy against our brilliant old friends Monchengladbach too. Awesome. Traveling Cop on for as ever.
This was the very first game of football I went to watch. A young serviceman stationed in Dortmund, our unit was given 40 free tickets to watch the game. Can you imagine this happening today!!
The Borussia M. It had in itself those players who gave rise to the quality of the game of the single and as a whole if we only think Simonsen who was a great champion and others!
The great Borussia Monchengladbach are edged out by Liverpool 3-2 on aggregate. They couldn't cope with Liverpool's power in the air in the first leg. This was one of their weaknesses and the fact that they never really had a top class striker to play up alongside Jupp Heynkes. They were cheated out of a chance of the 1972 European Cup when after destroying Inter Milan 7-1 in an earlier round the tie was replayed.
@@michaelgrech9396 Yes, but I don't think quite as good as Uli Hoeness to Gerd Muller at Bayern and certainly not Alan Simonsen when he got going at Moenchengladbach.
I'm here cause a big fan of Jupp, most underrated striker ever, only because he hadn't good luck with national team. The 7-1 match was fake, there were 2 great teams, the game was 2-1 when Boninsegna, best player x Inter, one of the best striker in italian football, was hitted on the head with a coke bottle. Uefa inspector saw everything and the game was completed only for public safety, all the players knows. The game was repeated, Inter won 1st leg in Milan 3-1, 2nd leg in Germany 0-0. Inter was a great team too, many fantastic players at the end of their fantastic era with 2 champions league, 2 world cup, 5 italian scudetti, others 2 champions league finals. Boninsegna, Mazzola, Facchetti, Corso, Burgnich, Bertini were 6 of 11 Italians National Team that beat 4-3 West Germany in 1970 world cup semifinals, Oriali a world champion 1982
@@Gianluca-xn7ri Piffle. No one even knows if Boninsegna was hit on the head. The 1970's was the decade of the 'Big Fix' in Italian football and Inter were a dreadfully defensive team who didn't even try to attack against Ajax in the final. Gunter Netzer and Moenchengladbach put them in their place and showed what real attacking football is all about.
Sorry Ruda, 2 games were played between great Borussia team and Inter, 3-1 for Inter fc it's the aggregate.. what team was the best team? I don't think you saw the final because Inter had some good chances, but lost cause Ajax was a fantastic team. 2) Italian football was so no attacking that 2 years before in world cup 1970 Italia beated west Germany scoring 4 goals, and playing all the competition with 4 forward ( Domenghini, Mazzola, Riva, Boninsegna) and 2 offensive midfielder, De Sisti and Bertini, and a left back that used to score 10 goals every championship. 3) all the people that were inside the Inter room, inter and borussia doctors, Uefa officials and the referees saw the big bernoccolo in Boninsegna head. Then he recovered in Dortmund hospital for x rays.. so everybody knews

Yup.
Great support for Liverpool especially at a time when away travel abroad wasn't so familiar and cash not so disposable like today.

From what I can see though, Rupp was not that bad.

Heynckes, Del Piero 's forerunner!
beautiful
BMG had two faces, strong as a bear at home and weak like a empty bottle away.
