Still one of the most perfect songs I ever heard. At the same time, it's hard to realize that the positive shock it caused while listening to it for the very first time won't ever come back.
And to all of you complaining that "they don't make music like that any more" (I read this under almost every song from each and every decade): Remember your parents said the very same thing. And before them, your grand parents said it. It's just plainly wrong. There are a lot of great artists out there waiting to be discovered on your favorite streaming services, on Bandcamp, on SoundCloud and in that little club around the corner. Just be a bit more open and curious. Like you were when you discovered Jewel back then.
Grew up in Alaska I'm curious about that period in her life. Not the San Diego living in a van stuff. I can do without that.

This was y grandma's fav song, and now whenever I hear I just think about how I'll never see her again, never hear her singing to me again, how sometimes it makes me feel all alone because my grandma was my best friend, I could talk to her about everything and she'd always understand. Reminds me of hiding out and making out with my ex girlfriend in the 90's. We started when I was 14 and she was 12 and went on and off but could never be together because of her parents. Well she lived her life had kids and I lived my life. Almost lost her to cancer 7 years ago but she made it and the other day I heard her voice on the phone for the first time in 20 years and it was like we were continuing a conversation from the 90's that never ended. She's with someone but I will always have a place in my heart for her.
